when trying to watch youtube videos in full screen mode it looks like this. after you get out of full screen mode the video is gone but the audio is still playing. first bug i have found so far.

This bug was in the original preview 3. I found it so annoying that i reinstalled preview 1 yesterday.

Issues I have found from Preview 3 [non update]:

1. Flash videos. you could click on a video let it try to load, it would play the sound, then the video would flake out, and freeze my whole system. I would have to force a reboot.

2. Spaces. I always have certain apps locked to certain spaces. However in preview 3, it seemed they ignored that rule, and loaded all my apps in the same space. The only fix i found is if you loaded each app one at a time, then it would slowly figure out were it was to go.

3. Safari. Safari has become very fast but also a hinderance. I'm the type of person that always has open 7 or 8 tabs open at once. However, in the latest build, I often have to 'force to reload' all the tabs. While looking at one tab, the others seem to forget what was on the page, or have some kind of a memory dump [??], and have nothing but white space when you go back it.

4. Mail. Apples's mail program seems to want to keep all mail, even though i tell it to delete old emails in a conversation. This probably has something to do with googles settings?? but i have checked and both my work, and gmail use IMAP, and should delete off the server when i hit delete... however some emails keep coming back. Also it always seems like mail has duplicates of emails that it finds, it looks like I delete the same email two or three times a lot.

Just some of the bugs i have found.

I don't understand the big deal regarding Expose functionality. On my trackpad, flicking down with four fingers reveals all the windows of the active program, and flicking up enters Mission Control. What does ML bring back?

i dont see the problem either, Mission Control actually made me use Spaces for the first time. i never understood it with expose lol

i prefer Mission Control ... but i'm not a window horder anyway.

the new option is good for those who dont like it tho i guess

If Apple is still developing Mountain Lion, do you think they will still make desktop computers? Or are we to work from our iPads and iPhones? :p:p:p

I bet that in 20 years, only software developers will use the traditional computers we know of today - the ones with a keyboard, mouse, monitor and computer. Everyone else will use tablet-type devices for their computing needs.

Let's hope so. Thank god it's an option, those of us who realise Mission Control isn't supposed to be a "window" switcher can continue using it as it was intended without the god awful mess that is "all window expose".

Upvoted for being the most typical MacRumors comment imaginable.

Many people type much more than a typical software programmer and enjoy looking at screens >10". The difference between a tablet with a keyboard and/or a screen and a computer is just noise in the progress of the coming 20 years.

Options are always good.

Agreed. I'm one of those who absolutely loves Mission Control. It's far more useful to me than Expose + Spaces and I'd be recluctant to go back to pre-10.7 because of this. That said, I completely understand why people would prefer the old system, as it was much easier to have a dedicated and precise workflow set up and I really hope Apple continues in this trend. It's great to have new features, and I really look forward to ML but the more flexibility we have the better.

Thanks for the replies re Parallels.

How stable are Previews 2 and 3 of ML anyway? Has anyone had many crashes or had to reinstall?

the download "wheel" now drop right into Download folder ( there is a progress bar right there, under the folder ). I don't know, but I noticed a stunning improvement in the resolution as a whole...or I'm crazy...

That "ask to keep changes on close" button could be the reason I upgrade to ML, assuming that it is always possible to disable the "Gatekeeper" feature.

The only real issue I have with Apple's new GUIs is the amount of gray impeding on what used to be a colorful OS. That was certainly a harsh jump from Snow Leopard to Lion.
The advance of grey was already starting way earlier with the "brushed metal" optic back in the days of 10.3. I really miss the days OSX was unconventionally colourful, making it a joy to work with the aqua theme all around (one of the upsides of sticking to SnowLeopard, which at least has some Aqua fragments left).

Together with the acrylic housings of the (OSX) computers back in those days it created a creative atmosphere of lightness, fun and relaxation, that the current sturdy metal machines simply can't offer. Maybe it's "cool" to have heavy iron standing all around you and its probably better for longevity and sturdiness and all - but at least give me colours! My hopes are on LiquidMetal here, changing this somewhat to the better.

So far i have not found a proper theme bringing back at least Aqua in all details (probably as Apple does not support full OSX skin customization) - i only wish Apple would offer something like "full Aqua" optionally to all people who don't need/want to work according to "ideal" ergonomic (read: dull grey in all shades down to black) colour choices for the UI...

Cool down there, boss. I've been using OS X Lion off and on since it's release (when I say off and on I mean for a month or so at a time). Duplicating your file adds more steps than doing a simple Save As. The Mac users I talk to who dislike OS X Lion, dislike it for various reasons, but the lack of Save As is always one that nears the top of their list.

It's not so much the Auto Save that bothers me, it's the lack of Save As. But if having Auto Save means not having Save As, I'd rather simply not have Auto Save.

Yuo can disable Auto Save in Lion - I'm assuming this is also the case in ML?

To be perfectly honest, I'm glad they've gone for plainer/neutral colours in the U.I. It's a lot less distracting when you do graphics work :)

That's what I was waiting for since 10.6...!
I'm buying ML as soon as it is available just for that one function.

I don't understand...you can already spread all the individual app windows apart in Mission Control with a swipe gesture. You can also app Exposé by double tapping on an app's dock icon.

Am I missing something?

I like the "Do Not Disturb" idea, but I think it should include a bit more control.

On the Mac I would like to be able to set a time period, so if I am working on something important I can delay all notifications for an hour or so. On my iPhone/iPad I would like it to allow me to have "night hours" and disable email/push notifications so the screen doesn't turn on/sound in the night, but allow texts or phone calls as they could actually be important.

I didn't say that there wouldn't be keyboards, just that tablets would replace computers for MOST people. Some people will use keyboards with their tablets (either part of the device or separate), some people will have large monitors (even using their TV as the display), but MOST people won't sit down at a traditional computer with a mouse and a keyboard like we do today.

There will be a few people like software developers, book authors, data analysts, etc. which use the traditional computers like we do today. It's the same as the typewriter being replaced by the word processor. The tablet will mostly replace traditional computers.

Oddly, I don't know how you can say that 'Many people type much more than a typical software programmer'. That doesn't make sense. That's pretty much all software programmers do is use the keyboard.

Um, this doesn't work for me. At least the double tap thing. The swipe gesture doesn't spread them far enough, it's still cluttered.

Edit: Got it, you meant double tap while not in mission control, which doesn't help me. The problem for me is that I constantly work with multiple applications. Having to switch between using mission control and app expose back and forth adds too many steps to a process that required only me using exposé before.

2nd Edit: To be clear though, I like Mission Control. I just think it's a bit flawed.

Totally agree with this. Good ideas.

Can anyone comment on iMessage? The last I heard it was very buggy and not working as intended. This is one of the larger things I am looking forward to in ML

Works actually very well on all my three devices. There are some bugs but nothing major (Lion).

And now in ML it's back to the old, real Expose: not scaled windows, all visible at the same time.
Except that redundant "Desktop 1" icon still appears up top along with expose'. Badly needed real estate wasted on a 13" display. I wish ML was smart enough to know you don't need that thing up top with only a single desktop.

even gaming?

From using iMessage (beta) in Lion, it seems to be working okay. However, I don't use it often. In fact, I will never use it often until Apple gives us the opportunity to set our Caller ID to our phone numbers on the Mac and iPad. I don't want to be sending messages through my email address and starting a second thread with half my contacts!

Not sure what you're talking about here, unless you're talking about a feature exclusive to Mountain Lion. I just tried holding down Option in Pages on my 2011 Mac mini and Duplicate (and all other items under File) didn't change to Save As.

Yes, Mountain Lion now switches to "Save As" when you use the option key in the menu (or simply option-cmd-shift-s).
