Well it looks like I'll be trying to squeeze every bit of power out of my M1 Max that I can. Then I'll build a PC where I can get more power for the same if not less money.

I am pretty sure this severely halted the popularity of the macbook Neo..
I think they made a huge mistake, and should not have increased the price of the neo, as when prices globally are that expensive you want everyone on your platform.

A mobile all in one device, with icloud etc.
Ah well

Apple TV by SEVENTY?! Jesus Christ.
Dunno what'll happen here in Europe but god damn, that looks like a preparation for the new price for the Siri-AI model coming in autumn.
I just picked up a spare ATV4K w/Ethernet for $149 at Best Buy. No way I'm spending $250 for one...with AI or not.

Apple know they need to be careful with the price of the iPhone. It’s such an important seller for them if they push too high it will hurt them.
if they raise iphone prices beyond what normal people can afford, their sales will take a massive nose dive and receive ALOT of complaints and shareholders bailing out..unless ternus comes to the rescue lol

These price jumps are higher than I thought they'd be. Fortunately, I’m not going to need a new computer for a few years. I’m also guessing they’re waiting for the next iPhone to raise those prices.

This could make some people to choose its competitor on the Windows side.

Just in time for the kiddies to start shopping for Back to School!

This is the dark ages of personal computing.
Not at all. This will force the personal computing industry to start being smart and stop being greedy.

This is a great time for people to start learning again about what it takes to make hardware go farther. I'm typing this on a 11 year old Macbook Air running linux and it runs great. Cost me $100 total used plus another $40 for a new battery.

It's going to force companies to program to the specs. No more stupid bloated garbage 20gb software package because hardware is cheap. You want the biggest audience for your product, you make sure it runs smooth on light weight older hardware.

This has the potential to be the biggest benefit for the small indie developers, those who can quickly adapt, and those who know how to really do personal computing not the posers we have now.

Not true, Apple has lowered prices many times.
Yes, to give you an example, in 2022 Apple hiked the prices of pretty much all their devices in the UK due to a weakening pound (thanks Liz Truss and your disastrous mini-budget) and also inflation.

The increases weren't this high, but they were still a gut punch. However, they did eventually come back down.

IIRC this also happened in much of the EU - I can't say for certain what happened there and if the prices ever did come back down, but in the UK at least, they did.

However, when they did come down, they didn't come down until the product was next refreshed (despite the prices being raised mid-product cycle) - I imagine that's what'll happen eventually with these increases.

The good news is that iPhone prices have not gone up. My 17 Pro Max purchased last year was $1999. Same price as of today.

Not sure, but it looks like the only products affected are Mac’s
It will go up for sure , business never gives you a free present 🙂

Hahahaha I am laughing my backside off at this! Talk about disgusting profiteering!! hahaha.. don't anyone dare feel sorry for Apple or anything else, they are still making record profits every quarter, still at least a 30% profit on every product sold, they could EASILY swallow some of the costs, and Apple themselves are PART of the problem causing the price increases in the first place!!!

But the Mac Studio price increases just show the profiteering bare faced hahaha.. Homepod Mini hahahaha...

I completely agree this was a needed price hike and wondered why Apple held out so long.

The indicators of an upcoming price hike have been out for MONTHS. AI datacenters on a chip spending spree, the destruction of an LNG plant in the Middle East (byproduct of which is helium necessary for chip production.)

We were teetering on … well, our existing first line Apple products in our home ecosystem aren’t capable to fully exploit the new features … but they still work just fine for our purposes.

Decided to go ahead with the upgrades … 14 models to 17 on 2 phones, intel Macbook Pro to M5Pro Macbook Pro, M4Max Studio.

Got in under the wire. Received my MBPro two weeks ago. Phones in February, Studio in April.

Would love to get the spouse off her Wintel machine. She just retired and will no longer have office tech support and I long ago told her I was unqualified to mess with that. (Not to mention having blood pressure elevating levels of frustration on dealing with Windows issues.)

Perhaps should have kept the intel MBPro, but I dislike having collections of unused tech.

Just went through the box of USB cables. Oy! And the various versions of USB C cables that are 2.x and 3.x and have little to indicate which they are drives me nuts!

I can certainly understand them having to raise prices but by THIS much for mac studios? and they are still charging obscene premiums for RAM upgrades on all macs. that's just greed. guess those profit margins are sacrosanct, eh, Tim?
