Tim is definitely taking the hit on his way out so the new guy doesn't have to and then immediately step in dog poo.
Completely agree, I feel we're seeing Tim's Game Plan playing out in realtime.

Tim is super sensible and I'm glad he'll still play a role in the company, even if it's outside of the day to day running of the Business.

Can't wait to see the Turnus era.

Just took delivery of a Neo 512 and base MBP M5 2TB for interns starting next month, glad I didn't wait. I was thinking about upgrading both of my 16" and 14" MBP Max M3 128/8TB's soon (pending concrete news on the Ultra), but scratch that now.

Big money grab, just like the oil companies:
Prices rise like a rocket and fall like a feather...
Not really because Apple doesn’t do it this way usually. They wait for the new product to drop to increase and decrease prices. They never touch the price otherwise. Making it now shows they had no other option other than taking a loss or increase prices.

This is the dark ages of personal computing.

This is the most elegant description of it so far.

Alas it’s not the end. I’ve moved nearly entirely to a 6 year old Lenovo desktop with an i5 9400 and 16Gb of RAM, 512G NVMe + 2TB HDD and in total the whole thing cost less than the full size apple keyboard. Runs Debian stable.

Nothing is in the cloud. I have no subscriptions to be perpetually screwed by.

I had been waiting for the Back to School Promotion but no announcement. I got fed up and ordered a MacBook Pro 16" yesterday. Not sure if I made the right decision as the Ultra could be out this Fall as earlier as September. I cannot imagine the cost of the redesigned Ultra!

Once again, Greedy Tim never fails to pi*s me off.

The price of everything goes up. Real incomes adjusted for inflation go down.

People are squeezed more and more. I'm sure some people aren't living that life but a lot of us are. I look at how much I make (It's not a mint, but it's respectable) and wonder where my money goes. How can I have so little when I make as much as I do.

Answer is everything is a squeeze anymore. Everyone is charging more for everything, but employers still dole out 3% raises like it's 2008.

How this doesn't end in a massive recession is beyond me. Then everything will be cheap because no one will be working and stuff won't sell.

I’m so glad I broke down and got my kids MacBook last week. There was a line of people buying them on a random Saturday of at least 10 people I assumed it was coming.
