It'll be a device that when you look at someone who has one you will laugh because they wasted their money.

I am pretty sure the first thing people will do when they see this device being used by someone else they will not think that...They will want to see it and use it first. Of course the device is not for everyone. I personally would not buy a PC with Windows on it. My preference and choice from an experienced user of Windows. I very much prefer OS X over it. I still have many more years of experience using Windows under my belt then OS X.

I wish they give me access to one for developing... Especially since Canada won't be getting it until the end of April and I want my game to be compatible by the US release....

keep it isolated in a room with blacked-out windows, according to four people familiar with the more than 10-page pact that bars partners from disclosing information about the iPad.

To ensure that it can't be removed, the iPad must also remain tethered to a fixed object, said the people, who asked not to be named because their plans for the iPad have not been made public. Apple (AAPL) won't send out an iPad until potential partners send photographic evidence that they've complied.

I would be very curious to see the decor of Steve Jobs home... :D

Even geniuses like Willy Wonka had really weird tastes in office decor with everything cut in half and can surely show their displeasing wrath if you fail to abide...

But I sure would like to see the decor of Steve's home.. ;)

To second what you are saying here, I am systems engineer for a hosting company. We have several hundred servers that we handle. I can assure everyone here that the Unix AIX and HP - UX servers are not the ones that are being patched monthly and rebooted regularly.....OS X is my favorite OS for general computing use by a LONG mile.....BSD Unix is a huge reason why.

No registry for malware to hook onto is the smartest idea ever for the end user - OS X. Having a registry for malware is the smartest idea ever for the software companies I believe - PC world. You get everyone in by pricing low.....has generated BILLIONS..and my Vista PC at work is still slower than molasses....fail.

Agreed, but then let me have 4 480x320 apps side by side open at the same time... Having just one centered on the screen is as lame as it gets. ;)

Your solution actually sounds incredibly lame. Lets just slap some iphone apps onto a grid and call it a day boys, what innovation!

[/I]Wow.What's keeping it out of sight going to do?
Are they worried it would take away from the release if shots started leaking?

First, you would see that the iPad really does have a camera, and secondly you would see that the WSJ executive who tweeted on the iPad several weeks ago is still hanging by his feet and twisting slowly in a darkened locked room.

Cost of PCs Vs Macs are the biggest reason most go with PCs. I think that is a very good point.

Isn't this exactly what went on after the iphone was unveiled? Why is that shocking? Just :apple: being :apple:

This thing has so much potential to be massive. I can't wait to get one.

I agree, with all its bad comments its been getting, I think this will become part of the furniture, just think of the times when you visit the loo, you can have an ipad on your ilap:D

lame...

Mmmmh, putting iPhoneOS on the iPad was lame on the first place.
If you (like me) are expecting some kind of decent window managed multitasking, a modified OS X would have been way better.
(I know, iPhoneOS IS a modified OS X, at least at the core level, but you get the point).

No......what point?

I mean, I love :apple:, having switched over 2 yrs ago, but jeebus... It's a publically announced computing device, not a secretive nuclear warhead. Let's keep things in perspective

If only the U.S. Nuclear Scientists at Oak Ridge could keep track of their removable hard drives and laptops this well. Even the FBI lost a laptop full of sensitive data from a secure conference room within their own headquarters.

The iphone OS was DESIGNED for devices like this, it just happened to make it onto the iphone (as an ice breaker) first. You may consider it lame, I say it was made for this kind of casual computing.

Simple, easy, fun. Thats the iphone OS, and just watch as it develops over time.

One more thing...

What is the difference between the demo models during Jan event that people got to touch vs. the secretive room where developers have to sign an agreement not to reveal anything about the bolted iPad to test the applications on?

It will be the longest "One more thing..." only to be revealed on April 3rd.

Let's look back: SDK components, the non-disclosed shipment details of hardware components and lastly the delay.

All I can say when you add it all up is there was a hardware change.

i think is gonna be C too :(

I think this is what makes their advertising work well. They make you complain of not having what it should have, then they add it.

is that a treasure map with important landmarks just to the right of the ipad in the main image for this story? does anyone know what application that is?

After a bit of research I have found the secret feature Apple is hiding. Multicolored skins. I think the rainbow skin will be the most popular. I do not think the unicorn skin will do all that well. I am thinking about getting the Velcro skin. It could be quite cool to hang the device on the wall of the lab when I am not using it.

stupid tampad has not even came out and I am already sick of it.

I'm sorry, but I still don't get it....

It seems like Apple is creating a niche so they can fill it with their own product...

Crafty?

Ya know many said the same thing about the iPhone and all it's coverage. Perhaps those that are sick of the iPad coverage can now understand how some did not like ALL the iPhone hype? and then again perhaps not!--))

I Love the iPad coverage/hype and look forward to it's release in the wild--)))) ;)
