I'd like to know if there's a new successor to the MBA coming, larger than 12''... I'd certainly want something lighter than MBP but without reducing the screen size...

But quad-core in a 13" is the news, not the Touch Bar.... if you want that new config, then you have no choice
I know, it was more about the fact that the touchbar was being mentioned. I know that is the form it is appearing in, just more about how the sentence I quoted read. Pedantic really, I know.

Apple clearly has a long-term plan for it. They aren't getting rid of it that easily.
Or maybe they can’t admit they’re wrong.

I can’t help but think this is how Apple failed the last time before jobs came back and simplified things with only three models on offer.

Right now, it’s like a candy store.

As gladiator said: the mob is fickle.

omg finally..

edit: I'm still checking the specs. We got now ddr4 ram, not lpddr4. I wonder if they changed the battery type like the 12" macbook battery to gain higher capacity?

Looks like they are no longer selling the 2015 MBPs now, and you only get the new stuff on the TouchBar models. The 13" non-TouchBar is still being held on the previous generation chips.
Probably there will be another 13"-ish Mac laptop with the same processor class that currently is inside the 13" MBP escape (15 W TDP) released as a new entry-level later this year. What's curious is that the 12" MB didn't get a processor update as well. My guess would be that they are going to update it in some additional ways beyond a processor upgrade (second USB-C port?).

No working keyboard?

No sale.

Plus, they are still saddled with the gimmicky touchbar, underpowered ports if you can remember which one, and sub 4K displays. Come on Apple, t’s 2018.

The bottom line is Apple continues to ship sub-par laptops with crappy keyboards

4K display on a laptop? Come on, bro.

They actually claim they improved the keyboard a little:

Keyboard and Trackpad
Your workspace just got quieter.

The MacBook Pro keyboard features a butterfly mechanism — providing four times more key stability than a traditional scissor mechanism, along with greater comfort. The 13- and 15‑inch MacBook Pro models with Touch Bar now feature a keyboard with a quieter typing experience. And the spacious Force Touch trackpad gives your fingers plenty of room to gesture and click.

Considering Apple admitted issues with the keyboard it seems odd they’d ship new models - and even mention an improved 3rd gen keyboard - with the same keyboard issues as before. Sure some people still won’t like the keyboard because they prefer more key travel but that’s just a preference not a flaw with the keyboard.
I can get used to the key travel, but for me, its quality and durability. I just don't know if that has been addressed in this model

I know a lot of Mac users in the office, none of them have been waiting for or care about the Touch Bar.

Like for me, Magsafe and ports are much more important.
The label '13" MBP with TouchBar' is a shorthand for the 13" MBP with 29-W TDP processors (which for the first time now come in quad-core configuration).

The Touchbar needs to be optional, I do not want to have to look down to adjust brightness, volume, trigger dashboard, etc. I am so glad I maxed out my 2014 MBP, hopefully it lasts several more years.
110% true, one of the reasons I won't be upgrading to one of these newer ones it's ridiculous. And no MagSafe... The best Apple invention.
