In your country, go to apple.com/promo to see the current offers. I don't know whether specifically that link works in Thailand but it's worth a try.
Thank you sir, It's nothing now.

This is a good deal imho, I just don't know if I should pull the trigger on a 13" MacBook Pro with the M1/16GB RAM at the moment, especially if the new ones will change or improve drastically. I, unfortunately, have not kept up with the rumours or news, but have been wanting an M1 MacBook Pro for work for a while now. Decisions!

Question on the Back to School deal, if I return just the AirPods, will I get a refund? Also, how does the refund work? Do they pro-rate it between iPad and AirPods or will I get the full $159 back?
Did anyone try this?

I never understood why this is limited to college aged students (and of course educators). Plenty of high school (and even younger) kids need their own computers.

They will not refund you for the AirPods since it's a part of the promotion. You would have to return both items(Macbook or iPad with the AirPods) in order to get your money back. Apple had already figured it out long before you came up with this idea.

In Canada, anyone can take the advantage of this promotion since Apple doesn't ask for proof.

The offer's terms and conditions state how refunds on this promo work:

"Returns and exchanges are subject to the policy of the Qualifying Location where the purchase was made. If an Eligible Product is returned, or is exchanged for an ineligible product, the Promotion Product must also be returned in its original packaging or the Promotion Savings will be deducted from the amount of the return or exchange, as applicable, and any remaining difference will be charged to the Qualified Purchaser. If a Promotion Product is exchanged for another Promotion Product where the full retail value of the desired product exceeds the original Promotion Savings, the Qualified Purchaser will be responsible for payment of the difference. If a Promotion Product is exchanged for another Promotion Product where the full retail value of the desired product is less than the original Promotion Savings, the Qualified Purchaser will not receive credit for the difference. Eligible Products or Promotion Products purchased at an Apple Authorized Campus Store must be returned or exchanged at the same Apple Authorized Campus Store, subject to such store’s policies and procedures."

I don't believe the text above covers this scenario. My understanding is:

a) If you return the iPad/Mac, you have to return the AirPods as well or they will deduct their price from the refund of the iPad/Mac.
b) If you return the AirPods to buy something more expensive, you need to pay the difference.
c) If you return the AirPods to buy something less expensive, they won't give you the difference.
d) The iPad/Mac/AirPods bought in a Campus Store need to be returned/exchanged at the same store.

Point c would be the closest but it is about an exchange for something cheaper, not a return.
Unless the logic is you give them the AirPods and they don't give you anything other than "thank you goodbye"... in which case, really no point. :)

Has anyone actually tried this?

That’s what I imagine as well.

Wondering because I’m in a situation where I already received the AirPods (and was charged $159 for them) but the iPad is still pending shipment and unpaid for.

So the scenarios would either be:
1) I return the AirPods and they don’t give me anything (weird but ok)
2) I return the AirPods and they cancel the rest of the order and refund the AirPods
3) I return the AirPods, they refund me $159 and then add that amount to the price of the iPad when it ships

Or they could just refuse to take the AirPods on their own.

Mostly curious about the operational handling of this, more than about actually returning anything.

Keep in mind that Apple still charges you for the Airpods since they deduct $159 from the iPad on top of their educational pricing, that's why you have been charged $159 for the AirPods. When you have received your iPad, you will see "educational individual" and "special pricing(the price of the AirPods)" on your receipt.

What would happen if you returned the AirPods is you get nothing back as on Apple's checkout page where you are being asked to choose which AirPods you want, there is a "No, thank you" option.

That would make sense.
