The game changer will be when you no longer need iTunes to sync media to a device or restore from encrypted backups. This is gonna be a game-changer. You can listen to your music on any computer, without installing iTunes. (IT departments coming up with blocks as we speak.)
Um.... I don't know if that's true. Maybe I am wrong, but I have some music that I created when I was younger, and if I go solely to Apple Music, I think i will likely lose access to them because they aren't in the public arena, nor published on iTunes.
I'm not 100% but fairly confident.
There’s no reason TO have both. All of Match’s features are supported in Apple Music.
You can use Alexa with Apple Music now.Still missing third party integration. I want to be able to use Alexa/Google Assistant with Apple Music. But this is the other big feature for sure.
I too can verifyno, i have content by small local bands that is not on Apple Music that i ripped myself that i can still access anywhere with AM... it just uploaded it all...
BetaThis web version is not showing any of my Smart Playlist, only drag-and-drop playlist. So that's disappointing as the majority of my playlists are Smart Playlists
I’ve always wondered why Apple Music and iTunes are separate. I’m assuming it’s a record company thing but you’d think they would want seamless access for people to purchase music. For the stuff that’s on iTunes but not Apple Music Apple could just gray out those items or note that they’re not available on Apple Music.Great start, but I do have two ( very minor and edge cased) issues, though:
1. No access to the iTunes Music Store. I realize that this is all about Apple Music, but it'd be nice to have an area to buy music for those who still like to do so (I rarely do so, but still). This is especially true for Japanese users since they still like buying music.
2. The Recently Added section of the library. It only shows the very recent songs instead of displaying all of them by year. This is how it works on the desktop iTunes app, so I hope they can improve on that over time.
But outside of those two, it's fine.

You will keep everything that is on your itunes/match subscription.Um.... I don't know if that's true. No, that is not the case. Apple Music includes the full Match functionality. I have a lot of albums that aren't available through Apple Music and it just uploads them to the cloud, just like Match does with songs it can't, uh, match. Not completely. If you have music that is not on Apple Music you can't access it remotely. I have a number of older and obscure albums, and if I gave up Match those would not be available to me except on the main machine that hosts my library.

You can use Apple Music on Alexa. You can even set it as the default music source through the Alexa app.
