This is gonna be a game-changer. You can listen to your music on any computer, without installing iTunes. (IT departments coming up with blocks as we speak.)
The game changer will be when you no longer need iTunes to sync media to a device or restore from encrypted backups.

Um.... I don't know if that's true. Maybe I am wrong, but I have some music that I created when I was younger, and if I go solely to Apple Music, I think i will likely lose access to them because they aren't in the public arena, nor published on iTunes.

I'm not 100% but fairly confident.

no, i have content by small local bands that is not on Apple Music that i ripped myself that i can still access anywhere with AM... it just uploaded it all...

I had iTunes match with over 1k songs from artist that are out of print, not purchased on iTunes and not available in Apple Music. Just like with Match, when you use Apple Music it attempts to match and if it cannot, it uploads those songs into your iCloud Music Library and you can access/play them at any time from any device with Apple Music.

Great start, but I do have two ( very minor and edge cased) issues, though:

1. No access to the iTunes Music Store. I realize that this is all about Apple Music, but it'd be nice to have an area to buy music for those who still like to do so (I rarely do so, but still). This is especially true for Japanese users since they still like buying music.
2. The Recently Added section of the library. It only shows the very recent songs instead of displaying all of them by year. This is how it works on the desktop iTunes app, so I hope they can improve on that over time.

But outside of those two, it's fine.

This web version is not showing any of my Smart Playlist, only drag-and-drop playlist. So that's disappointing as the majority of my playlists are Smart Playlists

I’ve always wondered why Apple Music and iTunes are separate. I’m assuming it’s a record company thing but you’d think they would want seamless access for people to purchase music. For the stuff that’s on iTunes but not Apple Music Apple could just gray out those items or note that they’re not available on Apple Music.

For number 1, I think that is the way they are going — just like how Music and the iTunes Store is separated in iOS now.

For number 2, I think — again — it's just mimicking the iOS app that limits how far back into "Recently Added" you can go. If you are used to the current macOS version of iTunes over the iOS version then that would absolutely make sense.

Wow! That's huge! Way to go, Apple! No need for a third-party website now.

May not need Apple Music Family plan for two users on iOS now? I will probably cancel Family Plan and just login to music on iOS Safari using other user's account when I want to listen to Apple Music.

You will keep everything that is on your itunes/match subscription.

Not completely. If you have music that is not on Apple Music you can't access it remotely. I have a number of older and obscure albums, and if I gave up Match those would not be available to me except on the main machine that hosts my library.
No, that is not the case. Apple Music includes the full Match functionality. I have a lot of albums that aren't available through Apple Music and it just uploads them to the cloud, just like Match does with songs it can't, uh, match. ;)

You mean if you hear something on AM you can't hit a button and buy it? I was playing with a relative's account and it also looks like you are restricted to what is in "your" iTunes store. I suppose that's a legal thing. I can see albums on the Japan iTunes site, but can't buy them. I couldn't see them in AM.

I guess I'll (continue to) pass.

Am I the only one having trouble with the log in on Safari? I just get a blank page at autorize.music.apple.com, after entering my verification code… Same when logging in to Apple Music on Safari when pre loading/adding an album over the internet: never worked. It does work with Google Chrome though. Same on my girlfriend's laptop with her Apple ID. Doesn't work in Safari, it does in Chrome.

You can use Apple Music on Alexa. You can even set it as the default music source through the Alexa app.
