Poor design is correct. Obviously not "designed in California and made in China" rather "designed and made in China"... I Purchased a pair that failed, good luck getting support. Call apple, no call beats, no call apple. $45 ebay knock offs sound just as good I hate to say it. Apple earbuds that come with your iPhone are far superior in sound quality.

They can replace these at the genius bar now. It's pretty worth.

Well after Tim Cook became CEO, there has been a bigger shift towards profits rather than giving more to the consumers. Not entirely sure if this was "his" idea, but if it is... I wouldn't want him to have anymore control.

I disagree. IPad mini, bigger screen iPhones are huge things that consumers were asking for.

These were the first "Apple product" that I've ever returned.

They were uncomfortable, laggy, and not knowing when the occasional Bluetooth disconnection was going to happen in the middle of my run made using them very frustrating. They threw me off my "zone" on several runs so I stopped taking them and used the wired headphones with an iPod Shuffle instead.

I felt totally ripped off of $200+ and had to take them back. Once I made that decision, Apple's legendary customer service kicked in and made it all better. They took them back, used, the box in unsellable condition — no questions asked.

I'll wait until Apple engineers get their hands on them and make them a true Apple product. I look forward to seeing what spin Jony Ive will put on BT earbuds.

I still have my Apple Bluetooth ear prong. The best damned ear prong that I've ever seen. It was a shame they stopped making it. So elegant... So delicate... So usable...

I had one of those too, it worked fine but I have a hard time keeping that type from falling out of my ear.

It blows my mind that so many people fall for this crap.
So which Bluetooth earphones suitable for workouts do you suggest then?

It's easy to say that something is "crap", but from looking at the comments here, all the "experts" seem to find it very difficult to propose a real alternative.

The only actual alternative being mentioned here (interestingly enough not by the people who keep calling the Beats earphones "crap") are the Jaybird Bluebuds X. As I said before, I own them myself, but they have their own set of weaknesses, so I am wondering which earphones all those "Beats earphones are crap" experts actually suggest. And by that, I mean wireless earphones.

What's wrong with the bluebirds?

I quite enjoy my pair when I workout. My only thing with them is theres a delay that makes watching videos impossible while other BT headphones have no issue.

This is the only question needing an answer. Have they fixed this in the latest version?

Hopefully Dash might be the solution when they ship twelve months late from Kickstarter.

Ownphones might be an option http://ownphones.com

I bought a pair of these a couple months back for running. The sound quality is pretty good for earbuds and they are by far the most comfortable and durable of all wireless earbuds I've used.

I have a pair that is the best running/workout/skiing earbuds I've owned, but the lag is still there so you can't use them to watch videos. Too bad, because when I fly on airplanes I'd much rather wear those than the over ear headphones they usually provide you on the plane.

Was hoping for powerbeats 3 or at least a price drop. Good headphones when I bought them last year but expensive then and even more so for a 1 year old product. Should be $149 right now.

I completely respect anyone's personal choices but while Bose (IMO) is still #1 in terms of just "noise canceling" the build quality of their products have severely gone down. The newer QC headphones are abysmal at best. Very cheap feeling plastic and the ear cup pads certainly don't appear to be real leather....not sure if they ever were. For $299 USD they simply aren't giving the consumer the quality come to be expected from legacy Bose.
Good noise canceling, and their sound sucks as well.

From what I've read beats doesn't really have a good reputation for sound quality. $200 for these seems incredibly steep when much more reputable brands are less than half these.

I was already disappointed that Apple named their radio station "Beats 1" instead of "Apple 1", but to see them actively embracing the Beats product line makes me want to throw up a little. They run the risk of diluting their brand by associating themselves with these junk products, and I don't see how Jony can stand behind these products as good designs and hardware.

Not sure about the Powerbeats, but the Beats Pro have excellent sound quality and the absolute best sound separation between tracks out of every headphone i tried (Sennheisser, Bose, AKG... And more). I only reference these since this thread has turned into a whole debate about whether any Beats are good at all... As a former Beats denier I was won over by actually trying and comparing rather than believing self-proclaimed audiophiles whose only platform is YouTube.
