Im so glad house repair people don't work like this.

Ahhh yes sir, I see you have one of our faulty central heating systems installed, but we can't repaair it, as your front door, whilst still working has a broken hindge and one of your windows has a crack.
If you pay us to repair these other 2 items 1st, then we will deal with the faulty heating system we fitted ;)

'A very small percentage'. Again. And again.

You can only say 'technology has defects' for so long before you start convincing yourself 'is this deliberate?" just to get media hype.

Technology goes bad, and if its not Wi-fi problems, its something else.

if that's what's supposed to happen than every other manufacturer must fail your test then.

My question remains unanswered.
How is Apple going above and beyond?

I have an iPhone (which is subject to the Touch ID recall - which I have experienced several times without dropping the phone like Apple says will have happened)

What is the Touch ID recall? I haven’t heard of that particular issue.

It makes no difference what the percentage. The problem is clearly sufficient enough for Apple to launch a Repair Program.

What has happened to Apple quality control and how long can the apologists jump to their defence
https://www.macworld.co.uk/feature/apple/apple-product-recalls-free-repairs-3635187/

A useful link but still there will be people who praise Apple for fixing the issues rather than criticising them for making machines that don't work properly. They often call out other companies that have issues to dodge Apple's own and ignore the fact that Apple produces a very limited set of devices and still gets it wrong too often.

They call you a hater (as I have been today) for criticising. That's a typical Apple fanboy straw man but they know very little of the people they attack. We have many Apple devices and despite all the issues, I'd still really like an iMac and a new iPad Pro.

My mistake. I meant multitouch -

I've seen this come and go on my own phone but I have NOT 'dropped multiple times on a hard surface and then incurring further stress on the device.'.

um, when nobody else does it, aren't they going ABOVE (the competition) and BEYOND (the competition)?

I have an iPhone 8 that’s acting up a bit (occasional freezes and crashes), but its serial number is not covered by this repair program, so I’m hoping it’s a software issue I’m having. I’m waiting for iOS 12 to be released, and if the problems continue I’ll try a reset and start out fresh. However, if that doesn’t help then it’s either my phone being a lemon or the affected range is bigger that Apple admits right now.

Which would not surprise me one bit after what happened with the 2011 Macbook Pro's.

Another day... another gate...
"Apple it just fails"

Too bad costumers have to suffer these issues every damm time a new iPhone is released.

Nah, most of them are loving it due to the Stockholm syndrome. Don’t you see the comments above ? Some are even thanking apple for this.

Oh dear. You cannot see that even 'a small percentage' of 'a good 100 million' phones would mean many people inconvenienced with yet another iPhone issue.

Watch Rossman going through the list of Apple defects and then scale that up to those massive numbers. That's a lot of people who have paid a premium for machines with issues that should not have been allowed to happen.

I have an iPhone (which is subject to the Touch ID recall - which I have experienced several times without dropping the phone like Apple says will have happened) and an iPad. Only this year I have purchased a MacBook Pro (which is subject to the keyboard recall) and a Series 3 watch.

I wouldn't keep buying if I was a hater but I don't believe in blindly supporting Apple without recognising that there are issues.

The only thing that this proves is that 100% of phones aren't affected.
Show me the failure rates. Everyone loves anecdotal stories but no one actually knows the failure rates.

We do know Apple devices in general have longer useable lifetimes and hold their value better than the competition.

I am not sure how people are happy with these repair programs:

1-You send your device for unknown amount of time with all your data on it to tech "experts"

2-This is only available in countries with official Apple stores. All the countries and cities with no Apple store worldwide are stuck with faulty iphones.

I know Apple make millions of phones, and there will always be faults, but look at it from the perspective of the buyer. I bought a $1000 malfunctioning device...

I swear tech products were much higher quality in the 90s

Unless the phone is completely dead, I don’t see a reason why you shouldn’t wipe the phone back to factory settings before sending it in.

my wife's iPhone 8 has this problem.
it freezes when there are automatically downloaded iOS updates.
it then always needs a system restore to fix the problem.

Correct. And Apple has the very best customer service and repair in the industry. Good of you to recognize.
[doublepost=1535752816][/doublepost]Very funny for those who try to cast this in a negative light. This is Apple taking care of it's customers. They do so better than any company in the industry.
Depends how you look at it. Ask some of those that have defective MacBook Pro/MacPro graphics cards. They WOULD beg to differ.
