I've had this problem a few times on my phone, where parts of the display would be unresponsive and there was nothing I could do but to wait.
Edit: booked an appt for 12/11/18.
I had this issue with my iPad Pro but Apple said their was no issue. What BS.

I had my screen replaced back in September because I couldn’t hear callers in the ear piece. Recently I discovered my screen will stop responding at times and I would have to let it sit or keep pressing the home button to correct it. I hope I don’t have the unresponsive because I was without a phone for 3 hours when my screen was getting repaired.

I have on occasions, frozen screen when there is incoming calls... my screen would freeze and not respond to touch, as a result, I would be unable to answer the calls.

This happens perhaps once every week. Does mine fall into this repair program?

Given the issue is very intermittent, and unlikely to be reproducible at the genius appointment, how do I provide evidence to Apple?

Please let us know if they replace device, screen or only a « module » behind the screen.

I think I have this issue because on Safari sometimes I click on links and nothing happens. I need to pinch to preview the page.

I have a scratch on my screen, so if they replace the screen, it would be great.

I have 90% battery, so if they replace the whole device, even better... i have applecare+ but I hesitate between paying special 2018 price for battery before Dec 31 2018, or getting it replaced in 2019 with apple care when % will be lower.

My launch day X battery have 90% also, and I’m going to get my battery replaced since I have AppleCare+ and was told by Apple that I wouldn’t pay anything. If I got the device replaced that would also be great. I was told to take pictures of my device before getting the battery replaced as some people had new scuffs and scratches put on their device when getting the battery replaced.

Not at all unexpected as the X was quickly discontinued. The build quality is borderline junk.

Junk....you are joking right?!

You do realise that it wasn't about discontinuing but rather that they brought out new devices which essentially are iPhone Xs with some tiny updates. Do you think if they continued to sell the 2017 X at a lower price it might have cannibalised their latest line up!

Assuming it's been a year an that makes me think some already bought an upgrade since the XS is already released, instead of having their screen fixed because they don't wanna pay a ridiculous price for screen replacement.

There was a day long ago when Apple actually tested their products and buying the first off the line was a safe bet of a solid product, software or hardware. The man that made it all go was a rockstar named Steve Jobs who was famous for uncompromising quality. Now we have an art dog building pretty shells for what Steve would have said "This is SH*T" and heads would have rolled before the product went to the customers.

I have issues with the MacRumors website on my iPhone specifically. Anyone else have issues tapping on “read more” on articles and other buttons? If not I may just make Apple replace my screen.
THAT is a software issue with Safari. I have this consistently on my iPhone 7. Sometimes 3D Touch will work on links when tapping it doesn’t. Using other browsers works fine though.

Yes just take it in and they will sort it for you.

I took mine in a couple days ago due to some touch issues and they did not even try to reproduce the problem in store. I simply explained the touch issues and it seemed that to them it was just ‘another case’ and they seemed to get it a lot, and they just swapped my device for a new one and I was on my way.

Granted this was literally just before they announced this repair program so I don’t know if they will try a repair first before replacement now.

But if you are having touch issues do take it back as it will only get worse and not better.

Surely this can't be right? Doesn't everything made by Apple 'Just Work'? ;)

Just walk to iFixIt's iPhone X Display Assembly Replacement
https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/iPhone+X+Display+Assembly+Replacement/102423

You will just wish this fix to your $1,000 device is not a "display assembly replacement" done by a "Genius", stressed under heavy workload, done on their backroom, but instead you are given back a certified refurnished one.

"Opening the iPhone's display will compromise its waterproof seals. Have replacement seals ready before you proceed past this step, or take care to avoid liquid exposure if you reassemble your iPhone without replacing the seals."

"The combined earpiece speaker + sensor assembly affixed to the back of the display is paired to your individual iPhone from the factory, so you must transfer it from your old display to your new one during any display replacement. It contains the flood illuminator, which is part of the biometric Face ID security feature. If it is damaged or replaced, Face ID will cease to function, so take extra care not to damage any of these components during this procedure. If damaged, only Apple can restore Face ID function."

Caveat Emptor.

Sometimes when I first open the keyboard it ignores the first letter or two I type. I always assumed it was a beta issue. Anyone else see this on their X?

Mine becomes unresponsive for several seconds after launching Apps or Settings. Not every time, but quite a bit. Only those. I thought it was a bug. Maybe not.

I had to get this fixed a month or so ago. At first I thought it was a Waze issue because it seemed to always be when I was driving that Waze would start going haywire activating points on the map and such. I had switched over to Apple Maps and then weird things started happening there as well so then realized it was a device issue. Then I started getting random presses randomly thought out the day. It even happened once when I was having to enter my passcode and it locked the darn phone.

I finally made a genius appointment and went in to get it fixed. I had actually taken video of it happening so they would believe me since it was random but the genius didn't bother to look at them and she said they had seen the issue before. When I went to pick up the phone they told me that the phone had failed the quality control inspection after the repair so they gave me a "new" phone (not sure if it was factory new or a refurb).

I wonder if this defect is also the reason why the volume on my iPhone X sometimes goes up/down by itself without me touching it. Has anyone also had that problem?

I had this issue few months back for ghosting. They replaced my screen and sensor under AppleCare. This is good for those that might not have. Last I read that if you replace the screen then needs new sensor otherwise won’t pair with existing. Of course, when I took in they had ‘never heard of that’ and hmms. Wasn’t doing when I took it in but they replaced. Did good job.

You are a lucky person to have “perfect” android phones. Never, ever stop using them.:)
Indeed, what’s not to like. Having said that I haven’t experienced any issues with my iPhone 7. Perhaps I’m just careful with my things as I can’t really recall having problems with any electrical device going back 50 years. :)
