I was going to buy a used but excellent condition iPhone X for relatively cheap. Do you think that's a bad idea now? How likely is it that I'll face this issue?
I spent $1,700 CAD on this thing.. they should just give me a brand new phone.
Does it make it different if the iPhone X still has AppleCare? Or I just simply walk in at the appointment and complain that I have screen issue and they will give me a refurbish iPhone X?
Every electronic component wears down over time, but yes a second hand phone has a lot more life than a second hand car in doggy years...Electronic devices aren’t like car tires. Aside from the battery there isn’t anything that wears down over time, so yes it’s functionally identical to new.
Spin it any way you like, if it has made its way into customers hands it is by definition second hand. They’re not 2nd hand.
Service replacements can be new or remanufactured, ie. made with recycled materials.
Refurbished (sales returns) units can only be purchased, and come with a full warranty.
Oh, just bring back the Home button. I'm sure this won't be the last iPhone or iPad with this problem.
Sure because with Touch ID the iPhone won't have a screen or multi touch functionalities anymore thefore these issues won't happen again...
What's going on at Apple? As soon as the warranties up Apple admits a problem, Don't bother saying it's rare the first six posts, including a moderator, all random people reading a random forum admit to experiencing this "issue".Makes you
Wonder why they didn't extend this courtesy to 6 touch disease or whatever it's being coined and made them shell out for out of pocket replacements

Complaints about ghost touches and displays that fail to respond to touch have been circulating on the MacRumors forums for several months now, dating back to when the iPhone X was first released.
This Apple program does not extend the standard warranty coverage of the iPhone X, and repairs may be restricted or limited to the original country of purchase.
So you lose IP rating after the faulty screen repairs? Too many issues now a days
What exactly is the “display module”?
Will they replace the entire screen or just a component?

I, probably like a lot of others, have had touch issues but figured it was software. Anyone have any dependable test / process flow to see whether you're affected?
If it's entirely random, and they're not identifying specific serial numbers as affected, how could apple employees determine if the claim is legit? And how could the user go in and make the claim knowing they could replicate it in store?!
Anybody know if Apple will supply me with a temporary phone while the one that they screwed up on is getting fixed? I mean, I did pay $1,000 for a “premium” experience, right?

Apple repair technicians are trained to repair phones and re-adhere the display in a way that keeps the devices IP rating.

The “display” includes the OLED, glass, front microphone, and some circuitry and cables behind the OLED.
They did, but they waited long enough for several class action lawsuits to be filed.Makes you
