It seems that gallery, contacts and iDisk work and the rest is still freezing and causing trouble.
in idisk when you've selected a file do you get the option to share the file as demo'ed in the quicktime demo video of MM services - the one where you email a link to a file to someone and you can select to password protect it or set it to expire? I don't have this button - just download.

MobileMe has the WindowsMe curse! fuggered from the start!

I'm not ready to put them in the lot with Microsoft just yet, but well see how things look by this afternoon. I think too many people are screaming OFF WITH THEIR HEADS too early.

any word on that 2.0 update just yet, i mean we have 7.7, 3g is fluttering around countries now, mobileme is grea....(almost), it seems logical if they are going to bugger the system up it should all be on the same day.

It was down before I could try it :) I was trying to get to Mail but without any luck. Also the default after logging has been iDisk instead of Mail.

How come?

So, I'm curious, with MobileME being in yo-yo mode, how come my galleries and website still work - they were both hosted on mac.com, so must now be on me.com (I would assume).

Just thinking out loud.

Off and on, more or less.

Wow.... It is very slow at best, and then certain featuers fail. Push is not working for me, even when i click the mobile me sync button. I WANT MY 100 DOLLARS WORTH.... and, uh... how do i login? i think they, just might have overlooked that feature...

For those looking this is how far i got on MobileMe in the last 20 minutes.

-Signed up for a trial
-got my username, and email configuration
-MobileMe Preference is on my XP machine under control panel.
-if you try to set it up, it says mobile me is unavailable.

At this point when it goes online i think i'll be able to sync some stuff up, but I know some of you are looking to just try it out, so coming from someone who just pulled it off in that last 5 minute spurt, this is about how far you can get.

You can get intermittent access to certain things, but going to www.me.com and signing in via System Preferences or Control Panel (Windows) doesn't work.

stop teasing Stevie!

ITS OFFICIAL...

The Mobile Me / iPhone 3G rollout has resulted in more productivity loss for U.S. corporations than the NCAA Tournament and Oprah's colon cleansing binge combined!

So, went out for a couple of hours for a few beers, came back and............no change. Talk about an "own goal". I think your guys just lost the moral high ground Steve.

Ya, I haven't done anything productive in the last 6 hours. Since 8am anyways.

Why does it take so long for them to FREAKIN update the servers? They already have the horses from.Mac, what is the issue here? If any sys admins could respond, please clear up my thinking...

MobileMe

Hey um so I was just wondering, is it just more or has someone else not been able to download MobileMe update. There's no update in the system preferences.

My uninformed guess is that there are some significant coding or system design problems - the server updates were scheduled to be complete about 8 hours ago.

This is an unimpressive launch to say the least.

Push Mail

Sorry if this has been covered, but skimming 650+ posts is a lot: not only did .mac (and .me) push mail work with firmware 2.0, it STILL works, even though the whole .mac works otherwise is pulled down temporarily -- I can't even login to my .mac acct from my Mac. But ust sent a test from an external (gmail) acct to my .mac acct and it hit my iPhone via push before i could blink to check.

Don't know if this applies to .me domain addresses (new, or used in place of or along with existing .mac addresses) until they get MobileMe back up and running, but .mac push MAIL only works like a champ, even with MobileMe and iDisk and the whole other .mac works down -- IMAP and POP .mac mail still works from your Mac, too, in case you're getting nervous and it's your primary address.

Not so much. Looks like it stays up for a few mins and then degrades into a non usable state. I am guessing there is a load based memory leak in their backend tomcat app/weblogic/insert java engine code that is running the service. I am sure they have all of their developers and ops guys on a conf call right now with Steve checking in everysooften and there is some major pressure to get this working.

The voice of reason. :)

Has Apple officially stated this thing is up and running?

They haven't?

And we are mad about it not working because of what?

Until it's "launched" you can't rationally complain about its lack of functionality. Or even its lack of existence.
