It`s frustrating...

I cannot login to mobileme in the system preferences and on https://auth.apple.com/authenticate too.

I get always the message, that my login information are wrong. But my login information are definitely corrent!

Anybody out here has the same problem?

What stinks is that I bought an iPhone (1st gen) from ebay and I wanted to check the tracking # which happens to be in my .mac mail. :(

You do know that each email you get from an Ebay sale or purchase can be assessed right from your Ebay account?

I just talked to Apple Support and this is what they said:

Al: We are in transition to MobileMe.

Al: The maintenance window has been extended. We are working hard to make MobileMe available as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Al: I am sorry but I don't have a completion time yet but please watch the .Mac System Status indicators as this is the best source of information

If Apple does support IE, it would only be IE 7 and later, which (I believe) you can only get on Window Vista. I

IE7 works with Vista and XP, also the sytem requirments for PC does list IE7

"For PC: Windows Vista or Windows XP Home or Professional (SP2) or later; Internet Explorer 7, Safari 3, Firefox 2, or later. Microsoft Outlook 2003 or later recommended."

Check out Apple's support page

They indicate all MobileMe services are "green lighted" or perfectly fine. Too funny.

The .mac green light is equivalent of your cable company's "At this time there are no general service outages or problems in your area." There IS NO contrary message. Never. Ever.

What I don't understand is why Apple can't throw something on there site to at least say, "hey, we're sorry but we are having problems, etc..." Just let us know that you know were here and give us something to go on. Do they expect it to be up any second? by tonight? by tomorrow? Throw us any bone so we have some thing to go off of. If it wasn't ready in the window they said it would be, tell us something!!!!!!

Or... and this is a wild and crazy idea... you could use this opportunity to go outside and step away from the computer. You know... outside? Air? Sunlight? Trees?

Calm down. It's not Apple's responsibility to report to you the troubles they're having.

That's what left me confused about the nag screen. They said IE7 was supported - it's even listed first!

I think there's a reasonable chance that Apple doesn't know what's gone wrong and therefore can't provide us with updates.

I know it's obvious, but something like 'something's gone wrong with the upgrade,we need more time than originally indicated,we're working hard to fix it' would be normal.
Not saying anything is just plain ridiculous

Well Spotted with that one, it is good to see someone trip them up with their own marketing. It's good to see that Apple are not doing anything that could be seen to be misleading or anything like that!

From the text next to the image:

"MobileMe automatically pushes your email, contacts, and calendars — and even your Safari or Internet Explorer bookmarks — to your other computers, iPhone, and iPod touch.
"

It's there for the bookmarks, not for accessing the web apps.

Agree.
They should have left .mac running.

Stupid Apple Stupid.

I bet Microsoft are laughin their asses off right now and next commercial will talk about it how 'smooth' Apple is.

A freaking joke.

They may even be helping out depending on the problem. ActiveSync is big part in MobileMe, isn't it?

This kind of migration you can plan for all day, but you never know what you may run into until you get deep into it. They are probably committed to pushing forward rather than rolling back.

Why is everybody so freaking excited about this thing anyway? It's push .mac with a different interface. Ooooooo.

NO - but it is Apple's responsibility to provide the services that I pay them for. 13 hour outage and counting......

Ironic... isn't it?

Wonder if they're going to be producing any more iPhones? I was contacted by a businessman from an Eastern-European country wanting as many iPhones as I can get my hands on...

OhH!!! you're lucky!! I hope you took him up on that offer - I'm sure he gave you a great price!
:D

ummm... yes, it is ... we're the customers. without us, they don't exist. we pay for the service. we use the service. they are supposed to provide the service. they don't have to tell us about problems they are having that we haven't paid for, but you better believe that they have to tell us about this one.

They did.

They had a post on the .Mac support page that said the maintenance window has been extended. Give them a break.

As I mentioned in my response to BV - enough with the "patience" thing. What poor implementation design to take .Mac down BEFORE confirming mobile me as working in an extended test mode. 12 hours and counting !!!!

Might I suggest hosted exchange for you needs, or heck, why don't you run your own service. OSX Server can probably do everything you need and you can use their Calendaring server. Then just get your own domain. .Mac was never meant for business critical use. THere is NO SLA that I see anywhere that states that they have to have 99.999999% uptime.

As far as taking down .Mac early, this can be construed as not so wise, but I am willing to bet that they needed to take it down to transition data as both services share so much. Plus if this is on the same servers, it makes their job so much longer while people are constantly updating things. I am pretty sure they did what they could and that taking down .Mac was necessary.

Can only 1 MobileMe account on an iPhone can use Push?

I have 1 master account, 1 sub-account, and 1 e-mail only account on my iPhone 2.0. The advanced settings indiciate that only the master account uses Push, the other 2 use Fetch (there is no option to switch it to Push).

When I switch the master account to Fetch, there still is no Push option for the sub-account/e-mail only account.

What is going on? I can sort of understand an e-mail only account being Fetch-only, but I though sub-accounts had the exact feature set of a master account (only with less storage).

Why is everybody so freaking excited about this thing anyway? It's push .mac with a different interface. Ooooooo.

- Push features are a huge thing for many people. For the first time, I'll be able to keep my Windows PC, Mac and Windows Partition on my MacBook in sync.
- The new iPhone 3G and iPhone 2.0 software (for iPod touch as well) has been hyped significantly. MobileMe is a part of that.
- .mac has been down for over 12 hours. It's an inconvenience to most users, but catastrophic to others.

Patience ??? - Good grief, my business operations rely, in part, on .Mac. This service has been down for over 12 hours now - that is a MAJOR OUTAGE costing me productivity and $$$.

Your business relies on you being able to log into .Mac web interface? That is pretty risky. I would never have a business model like that.

Look folks, the only thing not working is the web applications and syncing. Everything else is functioning normally. Dotmac email, me.com email, idisk, every web page I've very put up with the old homepage system, the (horrible) iweb system and even my homemade sites in my Sites folder. Everything is there and accessible to all.

Can't you all just have a little bit of patience? You'll be able to upload your latest iphoto gallery soon enough. You've lived without push until now. IMAP and POP has been working for you. It's still working.

Relax just a little bit.

Jeez, like kindergartner kids.

Calm down. It's not Apple's responsibility to report to you the troubles they're having.

Well I am not sure who else would be responsible for telling us about an issue at Apple other than Apple themselves. They don't need to give us details but updating the 'down for maintenance' page with an updated ETA or a "we are sorry for the inconvenience while we get the new MobileMe up and running" would just be common courtesy.
