I'm surprised they didn't update the Thunderbolt display. That thing is getting as long in the tooth as the Apple TV was prior to its update.

for $100 more

makeing the full price of $1,298.92

the RAM can no longer be upgraded by the user?

LOL
Sadly, you could upgrade the memory on 21.5" iMacs as long as you dig deep. I want Tim Cook to go f*** himself and stop with his utter greed.

24GB SSD for a 1TB Fusion Drive? WHAT KIND OF BULL IS THIS? AND FOR 120$?
Lighting connector on the BOTTOM of the mouse? WHYYY? Also, I really wish Apple updated the wired keyboard. At least it is being sold.

I've been hoping for a new trackpad (Got accustomed to the force-rouch with the 6S), but that price is pretty out there.

My 3-year-old, solar-powered Logitech keyboard seems a lot more magical than Apple's new keys. People still charge keyboards?

Apple has always charged about twice for SSDs what you could get them for from third-parties. At least the SSDs that Apple currently uses are absolutely top-of-the-line in regards to performance. What do you pay for a high end ~500 GB PCIe SSD these days? OWC sells a 480 GB one for $440. In Germany, Conrad sells one for €460. You can get a 2.5" SATA 500 GB SSD for €200, but it will be noticeably slower.
Is this down to interface or the actual SSD itself?

I believe it has the same keyboard as the new 12 inch Macbook.

It's not. It has a scissor mechanism, not butterfly. But it does have a bit less travel. Here's a review: http://sixcolors.com/post/2015/10/apple-magic-keyboard-review/

We don't offer stripped-down, lousy products. - Steve Jobs

21.5" 4K iMac

☑ 5200rpm spinning drive from last century
☑ integrated Intel graphics, the same as found on the FULL HD model

Bad graphics (and, in the old days, skimpy RAM) were alive and well under Jobs.

No backlit keyboard is a deal breaker for me. It's the only thing that would've warranted an upgrade. Force touch on a Mac doesn't add much since you can do a 3-finger tap on most things for the same functions.

Wow. I knew the new accessories wouldn't be great, but I didn't think they would be this bad.

Just a few cons:

- what happens when your $100+ device's battery dies? It's useless unless you give Apple more money.
- you have to tether them to charge them. This is the whole thing these devices were meant to avoid.
- they're way overpriced compared to the older models that had the same functionality (no, force touch is a gimmick to most people)

I already have two sets of the old keyboard and track pad, I'll be buying up more, since the future looks grim for this category.

With the lack of USB-C ports, I wonder if this will be the last iMac in it's current form. Perhaps 2016 will bring a new re-design?

OUCH they are expensive!!! I knew Apple doesn't do cheap but £2,500 for a top iMac is a bit pricey for me, looks like my 2012 iMac will have to last for a little longer, and have to get my new job soon to pay for new stuff. £109 for a trackpad way expensive :L but will probably end up getting one in the end

Yep. It pretty much embodies 'form over function.'

They couldn't be arsed with putting the port on the front, like every other rechargeable mouse has. Nope, instead you have to turn it over/sideways, and stop using it. So you can plug in the keyboard and keep using it while it charges, but not the mouse? Mmmk.

Might as well get the trackpad instead.

OMG, that's so stupid. Unbelievable. I guess Apple expects you to buy two: one to use while the other charges.

Has anyone noticed that the 1TB Fusion Drive now only includes 24GB of SSD. This means that Apple is charging $200 for 24GB of flash!!! (it was bad enough when they were charging this for 128GB) This is a good demonstration of Tim Cook's bean counting mentality!
Incredible. Apple must be the only one moving away from SSDs instead of toward.

I'm sure there are some PC trolls, but there are some legitimate comments and short-comings with these new products. Just doesn't seem like Apple's pushing the envelope other than dropping in a retina display. iMacs make up such a small percentage of Apple's revenue these days, it's probably not their top priority.

Where have you seen this? Couldn't find any mention on Apple's website, but it's insanely poor if true.

So it's $100 to go to Fusion drive. Mac Mini still costs $200 to do the same. At $100, why would ANYONE not do this? In terms of percentage of total cost of the machine, this was more relevant in terms of the Mac Mini, especially in previous versions where you had to upgrade from the base model to be able to get Fusion.
