Great ad, I like it.

I do find it interesting, though, that the whole ad focused around Christmas (the song, the Christmas tree, etc.) but at the end they went the the "politically correct" Happy Holidays.

EVERY COMPANY DOES THIS!

It's been annoying me more than past years, because they all want to use Christmas songs, Christmas trees, and Santa Claus in all manner of cynical ways to sell us their crap, while pandering to the supposedly overly-sensitive minority in this country who would feel offended if they even hear or read the words...

New Rule: If you're using traditional Christmas imagery or songs in your advertisements then you gotta say Merry Christmas instead of Happy Holidays— you spineless hypocrites.

...

Anyway, Happy Holidays everybody. :)

Mind the cameras? Pardon me while I fixate on my iPhone while life is going by? The snow is screwing-up my screen?

That's real life buddy, deal with it. People these days are very fixated on their phones rather than life. People constantly texting on their phone while driving their car when they are suppose to be focusing on the road and the people around them to avoid an accident. Apple is just telling the real story, they can't stop it from happening. Your vision of life today dealing with cell phones resides only in unicorn dreams.

The long red hat that Santa wears are called "Holiday hats"... not Santa hats.. jeez wiz!

:D

Its only called a "holiday hat" for the people give a damn. For me it's a santa hat.

Nice change from the blatant mindless consumerism of the Thanksgiving "Go, go, go, shop, shop, shop" JC Penney ads.

I hate Schiller's schmaltzy family values ads, effective though they may be with the moms and pops of middle America. If they need to do this, at least give it a little more realism and not this glossy Hallmark stuff.

It is interesting to see, though, how Apple has transitioned from targeting the "crazy ones" - artists and rebels or whatever - to becoming a true mainstream American mom and apple pie brand. Even though I don't like Apple's Disney-ish tendencies, it was a smart move by Cook to rid Apple of its "elitist" image.

I liked it

I liked it but I don't think it would make some one not using iOS buy into iOS. They should have showed more of the Apple TV and told people it's an Apple TV. They could have done this just by showing the top of it where it says Apple TV.

Hm... most artists and rebels go home to mom and have her pies during the holidays. It's not like every Apple ad is "homey". Merry Christmas to you too.

You obviously didnt understand the commercial. It appears that the teen is ignoring the family the entire time playing on his phone. In actuality he is recording a video for his family to show how much he cares about them. Stop being so cynical.

♥ This!

I actually likes the fact that I didn't know it was an Apple ad until the very end when they showed the logo. So much better than these stupid cheesy Amazon mayday commercials that run all the time.

It's really heartwarming to watch these "people" slash tv commercial stand-ins focusing on their iPhones instead of each other. Is this an inadvertent parody?

Pathetic. The Apple-led new world is loathsome. "It's just like life, i'dnt it?"
Grinch much? Sheesh.

I got a little watery-eyed at the end. >_>

only one problem with this ad

He's holding his phone in portrait most of the time, but the video he plays on the apple tv is widescreen. Other than that, great ad.

Great commercial. I love it. It is just what I expect from Apple.

But do you have any idea how long it takes to make a video like that?? A long fricking time. If that commercial took place over the course of 3 days then it would be realistic. But hey, it doesn't have to be realistic. It's a commercial!

It would be really funny to hear how long the shooting took for this though.

My guess is the ad's that focus on the "crazy ones" individuals, etc. win over cynics, independents, and right leaning folks. (perhaps those that would buy android products out of spite). You also see this in movies where there is one hero, Die Hard for example. Action type movies tend to have conservative values.

The ads that focus on groups, being apart of a culture, win over liberal and academic types. The silhouette dancers ipod commercials, and the these community oriented commercials seem pretty liberal.

Both reek of elitism, i'm fine with it.

Exactly, the nerve of Apple showing us icky, gooey, goody goody heartwarming life.....ya know, something positive...

Sorry but I really did not like this ad. The ad highlighted a kid that was not participating in the family holiday fun. Instead he was messing around with his phone, seemingly ignoring the people around him and the interaction they were seeking from him. Sure in the end he was actually making a video rather than playing Candy Crush.

Seemed a little off base for Apple to be highlight exactly what is most irritating about cell phones. Showing people with their heads stuck in the phone rather than interacting with others around them. In other ads Apple has highlighted how the phone can be used to increase connections with people - FaceTime. In this ad Apple showed someone ignoring human interaction to use his phone.
