I don't know how old you are, but I can remember family gatherings where one of my uncles always had a camera in his hands and was always shoving it in people's faces and rarely interacted with others. He made some great photos though and everyone treasures them today.

Still a bit annoying, but he wasn't editing the video on the go half the time. Maybe using those fancy Sony Handicam transitions at most.

LOL, that's nothing.

My area has received a snowfall bounty of 188cm (74") and it's still technically autumn.

That said, loved both ads. The tree, with all the tinsel, brought back memories of my childhood Christmas trees.

The ad's snow level is still amazing for LA people. Our Christmas is lame.

Then my suggestion would be to follow the beliefs of your religion, O righteous one, and instead of spouting spitefully against what others do, go to church and celebrate the holiday.

Please don't confuse a religious festival with your blatant worship of consumerism. They are not the same. Christmas is not about toys and gadgets. It's about peace, compassion, helping others and contemplation about how we live our lives.

In the passage quoted Jesus was not telling his disciples that they could not ever judge the behavior of others. Rather, he was cautioning them to live righteous lives themselves so that their judgment of others’ behavior would not be rash judgment and their efforts would be effective in admonishing their neighbours.

While that may or may not be true, there's certainly nothing in the bible about getting into fist fights at Wal-Mart over a flat panel TV, which is what the Christmas season has become..

You're basically complaining about stupid people at Walmart shopping during Christmas sales. Those people don't even necessarily celebrate Christmas, and I doubt they're following their Bibles properly if they do.

Please don't confuse a religious festival with your blatant worship of consumerism.

You don't even know what I "worship." For the record, I haven't set foot in a store this entire season. But again, you just assumed, and judged.

They are not the same. Christmas is not about toys and gadgets. It's about peace, compassion, helping others and contemplation about how we live our lives.

That's what it's about, to you. And you are more than welcome to continue celebrating Christmas that way. But please, don't force your beliefs on me or on others... especially when you've made a very inaccurate assumption about how I spend Christmas. I'll celebrate it as I see fit... and I'll tell you right now, being over-righteous and telling other people that they're doing it wrong is NOT how I enjoy my holidays.

In the passage quoted Jesus was not telling his disciples that they could not ever judge the behavior of others. Rather, he was cautioning them to live righteous lives themselves so that their judgment of others’ behavior would not be rash judgment and their efforts would be effective in admonishing their neighbours.

I know what the passage is about, and based on your reply, it hit the mark exactly.

EVERY COMPANY DOES THIS!

It's been annoying me more than past years, because they all want to use Christmas songs, Christmas trees, and Santa Claus in all manner of cynical ways to sell us their crap, while pandering to the supposedly overly-sensitive minority in this country who would feel offended if they even hear or read the words...

New Rule: If you're using traditional Christmas imagery or songs in your advertisements then you gotta say Merry Christmas instead of Happy Holidays— you spineless hypocrites.

...

Anyway, Happy Holidays everybody. :)

I get what you're saying about the contradiction, but you must remember that many companies, such as Apple, are global in nature. I work for a global company and led a project designing their holiday communications. It's a much more complicated task than most realize. I consider myself a Christian, but would not force my beliefs on others, nor should a company–especially not a company.

What?

You do realise that Jesus was around long before your shopping mall don't you?

It's no wonder this planet is in such a mess.

That's not what I was talking about. I'm saying that Christmas is the big holiday it is today because of corporate America.

"Oh gee, I can't wait for Christmas to celebrate Jesus's birthday!!!!!"

- Said no kid ever.

What Christmas means to kids is getting new toys and iPads, they don't care about the religious side of it.

And no the planet isn't in the shape it is today because some people may think that Christmas wasn't always a consumeristic driven holiday and had religious beginnings... Although religion in general is a big part of why the world is in such a mess.

It's offensive to me - an Apple shareholder with a rather significant investment in AAPL - to be peddled Jesus in my face by Apple.

Do you realize that X-mas is coming out of every freaking hole, every mouth, every house, store, restaurant, etc. during this time? Now Apple is supposed to wish you one? You don't have enough of it? Are you gonna get a freaking Galaxy phone if Apple doesn't wish you a happy self-delusional birthday of a false Messiah?

Ummm dude. I'm on YOUR side. You obviously didn't realize that.

I also think you need to chill out though. I hate Christmas being shoved down your throat nearly the day after Halloween. But, you can celebrate Christmas with absolutely no religious sentiment whatsoever. I am not a Christian (or a Muslim or a Jew for that matter). Christmas has absolutely ZERO religious meaning to me. I don't put up a tree (but don't object to them), or have any decorations in my home. At most, I might put a wreath on the door. Christmas is two days for me, and two days ONLY. The 24th and the 25th. Before that, it's not Christmas for me (and even if it was, "Jesus" would have *nothing* to do with it). And I know other people who are the same.

Sad just sad. That's all I have to say.

Hello poor Cynic Human …

@ Poor Cynic person …..
This happens to be a completely REAL family, each and every person is part of three generations. I know them all close & personally.
The emotions they are sharing (with all of us, captured by iPhone 5's) are not *faked* in the least. If these people WERE a mix of unrelated Actors, then each and every one should get an Academy Award for Quality ensemble acting.
But they are not. They are one of the most close and loving Real Families I have ever known. P.S. Humans *like* us multi-task rather well. We can focus on our iPhones AND each other, very well. Thus is modern life, with Old Fashioned Values.

It's really heartwarming to watch these "people" slash tv commercial stand-ins focusing on their iPhones instead of each other. Is this an inadvertent parody?

Pathetic. The Apple-led new world is loathsome. "It's just like life, i'dnt it?"

Let's be clear. I made a comment stating that I didn't like the Apple ad concerned. You are the one who turned that into a criticism of me. I wasn't referring to anyone in particular, I was however passing a comment about the increasing commercialisation of Christmas which is far removed from it's original intention as a religious festival. You are the one judging people not me.

Frankly I don't care how you spend your Christmas but I do object to being bombarded with stupid, sentimental bollocks masquerading as an embodiment of Christmas joy. Who gives a **** if the stupid kid makes a movie of his stupid family on his stupid freaking iPhone.

Best Short Reply Comment yet Oddnenz !!!

Glad you enjoyed the new Apple Ad (It happens to be filled with my beloved extended Family members) and every lovely moment you see is the Real Deal.

Just an FYI...

The following Christmas symbols are all pagan in origin:

Holly
Christmas Wreath
Christmas Tree
Christmas Garland (Evergreen)
Yule Log
Mistletoe

And for good measure, these Easter symbols too:

Eggs
Rabbits

Fine then don't celebrate the Christian festival that is Christmas.

I can celebrate Christmas and Easter if I want to, because you can celebrate both without any Christianity whatsoever. I said it before and I'll say it again: While Christmas is a holiday with religious roots and may be Christian/religious for SOME, today it's become much more a secular holiday.

Here's how the following holidays can be celebrated without religion (including American Thanksgiving which isn't a Christian holiday anyway).

Easter=Celebrate life/renewal and welcome back Spring.

Thanksgiving (Not a Christian Holiday) = be thankful for the good things in your life.

Christmas = Be good to your fellow man.

You want to worship the Christian God for Christmas, that's your business. I don't have to.

Lovely family - just ignore the grinches. :)

Wishing you and yours a happy Christmas filled with memorable and meaningful moments.

Oh please calm down, it's only ONE month out of the year. You're making too much of this. It's the final month of the year after many people have gone through stresses. Gift giving and sharing time with people should be promoted to remind people that not everything in life has to be taken so seriously.
And you being an AAPL shareholder? What's your point??

To all *haters* of Christmas.... you know what, I don't care what you think. I am tired of catering to your beliefs...... You believe what you want to, I will believe what I want to...... twain shall never meet.....

Apple produced a wonderful ad, you don't like it.... turn it off. Personally, I teared up at the ad. It reminded me of Christmases past....
