But not on the iPad.
You know the thing that is the size of an actual journal that has pencil support

Absolutely baffling
They have made a series of odd choices with the iPad. I don't think anyone at apple knows what they want it to be. I bought mine knowing I was probably going to only use it for twitch and browsing wiki's while playing video games in my living room. Turns out I was correct. I really love it when you fall in love with an iOS app only to discover that if it works at all on your iPad it will be a tiny little window of sadness. Good times.

This app fails on several levels, at least the version 1.0.
First big problem, it’s iPhone only. When bringing your app cross platform from iPhone to iPad to Mac to Vision Pro to Apple TV is easier than it ever has been.
It doesn’t integrate into the calendar. Didn’t we just see Reminders and Calendar integrated together? This should just be in the regular calendar.
It’s an optional App Store download. Kind of limits its audience don’t you think? If it were an app simply added to iOS maybe more people would be likely to use it.
Requires iCloud+, despite not really using any storage. This makes no sense, Apple doesn’t require iCloud+ for any other of their collaboration features, why would they use it for this? Which is already quite niche.
So the audience is pretty limited, iPhone users, who happen to see this app in the App Store randomly and are also iCloud+ subscribers, and don’t already use some type of social media.

It's pretty interesting to see the overall consensus be so "meh" about this, including from many of us who normally disagree about Apple related things in other areas of the forum

Not you @citysnaps ... I caught your downvote of my first comment in here 😂👍

Can't win 'em all 😁

Probably one of those cute ideas that will go nowhere. Discontinued in a few years, I’m calling it.
Once the initial excitement wears-off most will forget about it and will wither on the vine like Clips and other litter bin destined innovations. Not sure why this cannot be integrated into iMessage for free vice having a dedicated app and sub for it, seems desperate.

Microsoft 365 web is free to use while we have Apple here hawking an invite service for paid users.

Wow, we're only two months into the year and Apple has already released an ALL NEW app, with ALL NEW functionality. And, Apple didn't stop there. For the first time ever, the ALL NEW Invites app is built with Apple Intelligence in mind. This changes everything, all over again. Apple think you're gonna love it and can't wait to see the incredible things customers do with the ALL NEW invites app!

This is a great idea that would be so useful: Trips, where instead of sending photos to each individual person, they can be sent to Invites. Same with weddings, parties, etc. Group chats are annoying to manage photos in.

What restricts the usefulness of this is iCloud+. Is this because Apple don't want people to breach their free 5GB limit?
Why not just use a shared album?

Reminds me of: "Who asked for a thousand songs in your pocket?"

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that an epochal change in how people experienced music, which had already begun in the broader marketplace, and a strangely inconsequential, iPhone only, iCloud+ only, app for inviting people to your latest uncomfortable cocktail party is not necessarily a valid equivocation.

But hey, I'm a gambling man. If a few years from now the event-planning industry has gone on bended knee as a result of Apple's Magical And Amazing™ reinvention of the guest organization process, I will offer my most sincere and heartfelt admission that I missed the boat and will suffer in silence the shame of the guests to my next uncomfortable cocktail party RSVP'ing via email or text. Oh, the huge manatee.

Not going to repeat the horrible decisions Apple made for this app that everyone here’s already said, but I want to bring attention to a bigger problem I’m seeing here.

All these secondary apps Apple makes for “fun” - Clips, Journal, Sports, and now this Invites app - NONE of them are on any devices OTHER than iPhone! Why???? For a company that touts a fluid ecosystem and ease of app making across iPhone to iPad to Mac - you would think these lifestyle apps would be available on all platforms. I think this is what kills these apps more than anything else. Clips I can see being best on a phone, but journaling, sports tracking, and ESPECIALLY invite sending would actually be MORE useful and intuitive on a bigger screen like an iPad or Mac. Get it together Apple!

But that's a forum tradition. And expected. Everything Apple announces is assumed to be a flop (iPod, iPhone, iPad, Watch, etc).

There have been some real flops, though. Lisa, PowerMac G4 Cube, Apple QuickTake camera, Apple HiFi, Apple iPod Sox, ... but those were created under and introduced by the previous CEO.

It's the "little things" y'all... LOL... I mean, come on, Apple...

You're right. Plus. It shows they don't take the iPad seriously in terms of where to focus efforts, just look historically to how it always trailed a year behind the phone for OS level updates. The Mac is "still a platform in their portfolio" but the thrill is gone.

I need to know / see the following before using it:

- What does it look like when someone on an earlier version of iOS receives the invite? How do they respond?
- What does it look like when an Android user receives the invite? How do they respond?
- What does it look like when I only have an email address for a contact, not phone number? How do they respond?
So there are these things called APIs to collect the data, and it most likley sends a photo of your invite.

This actually looks great. I’d love to use this to plan an event if only I had any friends to invite 😭
If you have the Vision Pro then you have virtual friends or is it avatars. In any case don’t limit yourself.

This is certainly a way to drive revenue in services! And services is firing on all cylinders in terms of bringing in the cash! So there's that. I'm glad I extricated myself from iCloud+
