I have a 11” Android tablet with AndroidOS 14, 90Hz refresh, 2K display, Quad speakers and QLED screen plus 256GB built-in storage and 512GB SD card far less than an iPad Air plus I don’t have to be walled into the garden. iPad has longevity but the rest is not in its favour.

what good does it do to have the comparable V12 engine under the hood of the rest is mediocre. If the hardware starts to fall behind in 2 years time then I will consider to upgrade and have updated feature sets. Cameras on a tablet are questionable other than video conference but as long as the front one gets the job done then it’s fine plus with mediocre camera quality my privacy is partially protected one can hope.

Purchase an iPad Air with the same onboard storage and RAM as an Android tablet for three times less, granted it may last 3 times or longer but so can the competition unless the itch to upgrade or it is not supporting certain software titles I fail to see how iPad is staying relevant organ than for content creators. Even the most affordable iPad is overpriced compared to features.
I agree, you're preaching to the converted lol, I put my 16 PM on the back burner and am using an S25 ultra as my daily driver, some of the OS-level app integrations are just sick.

It was more of a point of distinction because you're right, powerful hardware is useless without software to enable it. iPads don't do anything a comparable android tablet can do. My pixel and S25 actually do more than you're given range to do on the phone side. I think it's something Apple can't ignore for much longer. Unless services shields them from reality forever.

I'm curious, honestly asking ..

Are there any Apple products you feel weren't a success and they should have not released?
(or otherwise tweaked/re-thought the approach on)

I'd have to think about that for awhile. Off the top of my head... I'm very happy with the Apple products I've purchased over the years; many desktop Macs (including a Mini that has been running my home automation and security cameras 24/7 for the last 6 years), laptops, phones, iPads, Watches, HomePods, keyboards, mice, Wifi box, ImageWriter, LaserWriter, displays, ...

All of the above for personal use, and in the two startups I was part of in the past.

Two reasons I’m not downloading this:
1. I wouldn’t use it.
2. I’m know there aren’t a lot of people who use the dark app icons (at least not in my area), but there is no way that could go dark mode. No way.

Um... Thanks, Apple. I guess.

Hey, how's that multi-source audio coming along on iPad? What about improving Safari (especially on iPad)? Have you worked out the kinks with Stage Manager yet? Have you fixed the light/dark icon issues? Have you resolved other graphical/UI artifacts and such? I'm just curious.

Such a strange thing to be spending resources and time on, given the overall product and software landscape at Apple

This nicely sums up the situation. How can Apple honestly look at the state of their current software and think, "You know what would be a good idea? Adding more niche, edge-case applications."

not sure if that is sarcasm...but the app icon does go Dark Mode. the colored dots and white stay the same but the "envelope" is now black.

Apples website for Invites specifically states invitees do not need an Apple device or account and can respond on the Web.

iCloud.com/invites states at the bottom.

"Apple invites is for everyone. Guests don't need the app, an Apple device, or an account to RSVP to an event"

Adding to your point, the worst of all is the invited parties have to be Apple account holder!

Who bother to join the event if the invited parties are required to create an Apple account?

From the story: While anyone is able to respond to an Invite that's sent out, creating invites is limited to iCloud+ subscribers.

From Apple's press release: Guests can view and respond to an invitation using the new iPhone app or on the web without needing an iCloud+ subscription or an Apple Account.

So no, you don't have to have an Apple account to reply.

But you need an iCloud sub to send invites

It would have a lot more chance in the competitive landscape here if it were available and free for all

I'm an iCloud+ subscriber running iOS 18.3 on an iPhone 16 Pro Max.

I can't find Invite anywhere. I've searched the App Store, Settings and my iPhone.
Wait. Tim is going to spam you with ads for it in other apple apps. When using the free tier of Spotify, 80% of the ads are to sign up to the paying teir of Spotify.

just weird. still at least the paywall suggests its not one of those junk apps that they insist on preinstalling on your phone.

Interesting idea, far from the first of its kind, but hardly useful in my life. Most of my friends send a text “meet up at the bar Friday at 6pm”, done. No need for fancy apps.

Yeah, but that solution isn't "built with Apple Intelligence in mind"

It's critical to force jam "AI" into every possible product, announcement and marketing message now
