I'm not sure of the breakdown but the Touch is also used by businesses for their point of sale.

The only business I’ve seen use a touch as a POS is Apple themselves at their stores. Most of the POS software I know is iPad only, touches and iPhones have access to overview of the business but not actually the power to make sales.

The "blah, blah, blah, iPhone SE" folks are really making me laugh today. Get over it people, and PS, that phone is trash anyway. I had one for work and it was utter garbage! Thank God I got an upgrade. Also, I finally know where the terrible parents hang out, so thank you for that information. 8 year olds with iPads, 5th graders with iPhones. Unbelievable. Queue the defensive people, who are clearly upset because the truth hurts. And go...

The first part of your comment doesn’t make sense, I said that it was a rumor not a fact and then you point out how this is a rumor site. Second, Apple has had plenty of devices in the past that only receive a couple of iOS updates before they are left out. The original iPhone got two updates, 1.0-3 The iPhone 3G only got two updates, 2.0-4 The iPhone 3GS only got three updates as did the iPhone 4. The 5c only got three updates etc. I’m not saying it’s going to happen, I was simply stating that it could happen because Apple has stopped updating devices of that age before.

At least for the SE, Apple was selling them as new in the clearance store into this year.

Apple gives the new iOS devices at least one year of upgrades which is why I expect to see iOS 13 at least on the SE. If the SE runs iOS 13, I expect the other older iOS devices with a similar processor to also run iOS 13.

Rather than looking how old the device line is, I think people need to concentrate more on when Apple stopped selling the device as new.

I see this comment a lot by various users, and it doesn’t really make sense to me. It was in the clearance section, this is usually a sign that something is EOL and will not get updates or support from a company anymore, and they are trying to rid themselves of it.

I do agree it will get updates because of the A9, but I would never buy a new “clearance” item and still expect large support for it. Especially when it’s already years old.

Maybe you should get over yourself. The SE is a great phone. I’ve had to use iPhone 6’s, 7’s and X’s through work and gladly come back to my SE. Did no one ever teach you that people have different requirements/preferences?

Sent from my iPhone SE

You're funny. No need to get triggered though, this early in the day. Besides, I've used it chief, and that phone is the worst Apple product I've ever owned. Sorry for your loss.

"New iPod". They've done nothing but update the chip and called it the new iPod, why didn't they remove the bezels? Add a better camera? added fingerprint or Face ID? oh yeah, they don't do that... because its Apple.

With Apple's push for Apple TV+ service ... with the Apple TV hardware using an A10 ... Apple is perhaps trying to set the A10 as the standard for Apple TV+ experience and hence design around the A10 and its capabilities. It may work on older processors; but some effects or features may be removed. Purely a guess.

I’ve had an SE for 3 years now and it is amongst the best Apple devices I have owned.

Back in 2017 it was the got the best customer satisfaction scores out of all their phone range.

That's because poor people are easily impressed...and cannot type ;) You should probably buy some more Apple products, if that phone is amongst the best Apple devices you've ever owned. I'm being serious.

Got enough apple products, and my life is supporting Apple products.

If given the choice between a Xr, Xs or SE I would take the SE every single time.

I don’t think you understand the difference between “I don’t like a product because it isn’t right for me” and “a product is objectively bad”.

Seems like a pointless product. It's redundant if you already own a phone. And, too expensive and limited by fixed storage when compared to using a $50 Android phone with headphone jack and $60 Sandisk 400GB.

Oh please. Outdated design, sub 720P display, no finger print sensor, single camera that probably same with last generation that is same camera from 2012. This price of crap worth $250 Canadian for 32GB.

On contray, you can buy an real phone with 1080P display, midrange processor, fingernpeinter sensor, dual camera for much less than $250. Slap a 128GB SD card, you get a devices much better than iPod Touch.

Apple is doing what they have done best, recycling old technology and charging premium.
Believe what you want to believe.  uses parts it used time & money to specialize & the A10 is an excellent processor. If you want EXTREME go buy a generic 10GB ram chinese phone. They will sell it to you for a few dollars.

Not sure why everyone is so upset about this. It's a budget product that is literally marketed for children to play games on. The whole reason they probably gave it an update was so that it would be better equipped for kids to play games through Apple Arcade. A 12 year old doesn't need an edge to edge OLED screen with Face ID and a 12 MP camera to play Candy Crush.

Well no, if it was pointless and not making Apple money long term, then they wouldn’t keep it around. The reality is, the iPod Touch is a completely different product that suits a different demographic. Maybe that’s what you’re failing to see. Is that this is a perfect device for a teenager or someone that doesn’t want to bring their phone into the gym with them, that’s smaller, includes a 3.5 mm Jack and runs iOS. I mean, I would rather have an iPod touch versus some cheap laggy android device.

Good news for people with kids whose parents don't understand that an old iPhone without a cellular plan is better than a outdated touch with a new chip.

(I fixed it for you)

Old smartphones without a cellular plan can still dial 911 (Emergency Services in the United States.) So parents may not want their small children to have the ability to do that.

Probably cost Apple well under $100 to keep making these and selling it for the price they are asking. Especially at the higher tier storage levels.
So what? Please use dirt, since it costs nothing to buy. You can play in it, roll on it.

Someone always has to complain, kids don’t care about bezels...
Actually, no one cares about bezels. There the 230 Million iPhone 6 in use across the globe.

I understand this is a niche product but new colors or something would have been a nice touch.
There is no Pink XR.

At least it has a headphone jack and doesn't have the fingerprint/face tech in it.
Never trusted a gadget that had those. Especially given that Apple has been less than honest in its information sharing practices.

Its amount of DRAM will determine whether it becomes a BIG success or not.

"If" AAPL was wise enough to put 3 GB into it, then its Performance will be on-par with the 7+, 8+, XS, & XS Max, AAPL's four highest-performance iPhones, & it will ultimately become a BIG hit.

If ONLY 2 GB, then it will act like the 7, 8, X, & XR, when pushed hard by High Performance apps, & do NO better than the touch 6.

From looking @ the webpages on the apple website, everything looks impressive, so "the amount of DRAM" is key !
what are you talking about? No one buys an iPhone or  consumer device looking at RAM. My iPod Touch 1G works perfectly with 128MB ram ,yes mb. Apple's OS design has been excellent from iOS 1 & macOS X 1.0

 never has allowed TouchID & FaceID data to leave the secure enclave. You can change your touchID sensor on a broken iPhone ,but they will not work because the secure enclave data does not work with unauthorized sensors.Plus, touchID & FaceID data is NEVER stored in the cloud.
