Lion is beautiful, it's now as smooth as iOS is. Everything feels and operates like finely tuned machinery, even while it's doing a lot of different things in the background. I ended up installing on the iMac first and will do the MBP second, it takes a while to index a 2TB drive but right from startup Lion is working very well.

I thought 1Password may not work right away but it's actually improved under Lion.

Bringing the 'feel' of iOS to the desktop is a really nice touch, everything performs in a more fluid manner now.

149 days to download lion

I think Apple has to do a major rethink about hard copies of the OS and other largish programs including this stupid Cloud stuff.

My Lion Download says it will take me 149 days to download. No Joke. People forget that what ISPs call unlimited downloads is rubbish and that there is a "reasonable" use. The "reasonable" dependes on the kindness of the ISP.

I have very fast net but if I use more than 6 GB a month they start closing the tap making near impossible for me to download something. A normal game (3-5GB) downloaded from apple store would cripple me for a few weeks.

Installed no problems, just as well as I didn't back it up, as I don't store much on my laptop and was impatient.

It will certainly take some getting used to for me with the different gestures.
I must admit I'm not too happy that I'm unable to completely customise them; as I would like to have the 4-finger swipe upwards show my desktop, and not the outwards pinch.

Just a slight gripe which will make hiding stuff when I should be working a little more dangerous! :p

Even though I already had the GM, I just went ahead and paid for retail. $30 is not a tough hit for me, and I admire Apple's products and performance.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

What about the guys like me who bought a Mac After 6.6.11?
How can i Upgrade the System for free?

anyone having problem downloading it?
It says it is downloading but it doesn't seem like it.
Also, is it possible to install lion in two separate harddrives?

From the Press Release

Users who do not have broadband access at home, work or school can download Lion at Apple retail stores and later this August, Lion will be made available on a USB thumb drive through the Apple Store® (www.apple.com) for $69 (US).

of course you can expect a high load on Apple side as we all try at the same time ...

if you are in App Store might be helpful to pause once the transmission and retry some seconds or minutes later. That worked for me. Took me around 40 min to download and 15 min to install

Could the "lowest" build number be done in purpose so as to only get downloads from recently purchased Lion copies?

However, if I were a developer I'd be confused not knowing if the GM released is actually the same or above today's release.

I've installed Lion without any major issues but now when i try to open iTunes i get the error message:

"The file itunes library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer versino of itunes. Would you like to download itunes?"

I was using the Beta version of itunes as im using iOS 5, is that the reason, its copied over the beta?

I thought maybe i have to reinstall the beta of itunes but i can't get on the developer website to download it. Seems to be down at the moment

Any ideas?

Mac App Store version is identical to GM

Here’s the md5 checksum of the InstallESD.dmg within my copy of the released Lion (freshly downloaded from the Mac App Store):

$ md5 /Applications/Install\ Mac\ OS\ X\ Lion.app/Contents/SharedSupport/InstallESD.dmg

MD5 (/Applications/Install Mac OS X Lion.app/Contents/SharedSupport/InstallESD.dmg) = b5d3753c62bfb69866e94dca9336a44a

That seems to match the md5 checksum of the GM InstallESD.dmg, which would confirm that the Mac App Store release version of Lion is identical to the developer GM.

If anyone else could confirm this (on the off-chance I have made an error), that would be very helpful!

I just kept clicking on it until it worked. It's finally downloading. Just keep trying.

It'd be funny if you just bought a dozen copies of Lion...

Would people please stop posting that they bought Lion and stop posting downlaod progress and focus on impressions, performance, complaints, etc. Nobody cares that you are downloading Lion.
