You can put your own city and state. However, the UptoDate program doesn't appear to be working right now, so hold tight. Keeps rejecting everyone's serial numbers...

Yep posted this earlier:

Also, if yu bought on the Online Store, what are you suppose to put in the City and State location of the store, which it still demands.

UPDATE** On the phone with Apple Sales and they have not been able to verify that there is a problem with the online form even though i walked them through it step by step and verified that it does not recognize my two iMac serial numbers, which were purchased on June 21st! Their only suggestion is to try again in 24 hours! HOWEVER, they did credit $50.00 to the account I paid for my iMacs with so I hereby delete my nasty comment about them.

Thx fellas, I figured they were being bombarded with download requests. I just thought that my serial number really was ineligible. Thx again.

Go to the purchased tab in the app store. You can see the progress there.

Okay so i'm on osx lion atm, & i see a lot of changes, a lot of smaller ones aswell, but one thing that is really annoying me, & i'm not sure if its supposed to be like this or if its a bug..

but using my logitech mouse, scrolling down is now scrolling up & up is down, its as if they mistakenly swapped the scroll functions for up & down, in finder, in safari, everywhere..

It's natural scrolling, the way it's on iOS devices.

You can switch it back in the preferences.

That has been done on purpose. It is called natural scrolling. It is like that no matter what mouse you use. If you want to change it back watch this video:

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Mobile/8J2)

It is not a bug. They copied the scrolling from the iOS. You can change the scrolling direction in the system settings.

Lion Up-To-Date Program doesn't recognize my serial number

So the Lion-Up-To date program won't recognize my serial number as valid. I called up Apple and they said they were aware of the problem and are working to fix it. They basically told me to try again later today. They said it should be working by the evening, if not by tomorrow morning.

Blah, it's free so I can't complain that much but I'd really like to try it out. At least I'll let everyone else work out the bugs. ;)

I've installed Lion without any major issues but now when i try to open iTunes i get the error message:

"The file itunes library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer versino of itunes. Would you like to download itunes?"

I was using the Beta version of itunes as im using iOS 5, is that the reason, its copied over the beta?

I thought maybe i have to reinstall the beta of itunes but i can't get on the developer website to download it. Seems to be down at the moment

Any ideas?

If and only if you DID NOT make significant changes to your iTunes library while using 10.5 beta....:

Look in your Music/iTunes folder. You'll see a file called iTunes Library, possibly with a .itl extension. You need to replace this file with the version of the file from your 10.3.1 iTunes. Looking in the same folder, you should see another folder called Previous iTunes Libraries. Look for the most recent file corresponding to the date when you first installed the iTunes 5 beta. Use this file to overwrite the currently iTunes Library file in your Music/iTunes folder.

Again, only do this if you did NOT make significant changes to your library while using 10.5 beta. If you did change your library significantly (i.e. by adding music or whatever), you'll likely need to reinstall the 10.5 beta.

... if the version number was different, wouldn't the checksum be different?

I'm not sure how much clearer I can make it.

Once again....

The GM developer release from earlier this month and the release now being sold via the App Store ARE IDENTICAL.

I've confirmed this by comparing the MD5 sum of the main installer (InstallESD.dmg) within BOTH the GM dev release and the current release. The md5 sums are identical, meaning they are the exact same package.

See post #494 for the fix

Download went smoothly. Took about 20 minutes, and the install took about 1/2 hour. The real curve once you get it going is the inverted scrolling. It took a few minutes to get used to. Every program seems to be working, and I am digging the launchpad as it freed up about 75% of my dock. I couldn't have asked for a smoother installation and introduction to Lion, and I hope it goes as smoothly for you all.

Have you followed the steps exactly? Are you actually on the developer program? This won't work otherwise.

The steps assume you're using App Store from a Snow Leopard installation. If you've already installed Lion over Snow Leopard then you're an idiot because Apple specifically told you not to, even for the GM release. You should have been installing it on a separate partition or hard disk.

Here are the steps again, as clear as can be:

1. In your Snow Leopard installation, trash the "Install OS X Lion" GM developer release that's in your Applications folder.

2. Close App Store if you haven't already.

3. Open App Store.

4. Click on the Lion link. The button will now read INSTALL. Click this and you'll download afresh the Install OS X Lion installer package.

I'm doing this now but the download is slow and won't be with me for an hour or two.

I installed OS X DP4 (11A494a) over Snow Leopard, and now I want to install the App Store's OS X 10.7 Lion over Mac OS X Lion 10.7 (11A494a). However, the App store tells me this: http://d.pr/UsZx

How do I install the app store release of 10.7 if my current OS is 10.7 DP4 (11A494a)?

I can't seem to reinstall Snow Leopard either.. So, basically, I'm stuck in the middle.

No thanks. I don't want to mix two operating systems together, considering that one is far less powerful.

A few people have mentioned confusing language during the install.

If I want to keep all my SL settings/files/etc what should I select, clean install or upgrade?

If a clean install keeps everything intact (as someone mentioned above), what's the difference between that and upgrade?

Up to date program

Up-to-date program: not working. I bought 2 MBP last month... it only recognizes 1 serial number. Called Apple Support, guy said they are fixing the problem as we speak... "keep checking every hour" (he said).

If buying new macbook with lion preinstalled, do I have to upgrade on old macs

Hello.
Tried searching but can't find answer. I plan on buying the new MBA. Am I licensed to download upgrade on my older machines for free? Thanks.

I downloaded and installed Lion this morning when it came up for sale, went smooth and very fast. After using the OS for a bit, I am very pleased with it. I was expecting something horrible based on everything I've read on this board the past week.

My only question for anyone who can answer is...

Was there some sort of vibrating feature added to Lion? By vibrating, I mean the same as the vibrating on an iPhone. I've been googling, but haven't read anything about such a feature.

Reason I'm asking, is because I've loaded a few different apps and I hear a vibration on my desk. I have sound off on my phone, so I figured it was a notification on my phone but when I reach for it nothing is there. I then realize that the vibrating is coming from my Mac. It's just like a 1-2 second notification vibration.
