A few people have mentioned confusing language during the install.

If I want to keep all my SL settings/files/etc what should I select, clean install or upgrade?

If a clean install keeps everything intact (as someone mentioned above), what's the difference between that and upgrade?

Clean install wipes everything!!! all your files will be gone! Update keeps everything intact.

For $30 I'm definitely buying this. No pirating. Thank you apple for such a great price. Hope my little bit of money encourages you to realize how important the Mac is to me and your business. I hope others do the same.

I'm with you there. A great price for the upgrade.
I can't pay for the upgrade until Friday so the juggernaut for the download should have cleared by then.

Love using my trackpad and really think this is a cool way to spend $30.00

Good luck everyone, hope it goes smoothly for you. Go play guitar or bake a cake - if you haven't started the download wait until tomorrow or Friday when it won't be so frustrating waiting for the traffic jam to clear.

Okay so i'm on osx lion atm, & i see a lot of changes, a lot of smaller ones aswell, but one thing that is really annoying me, & i'm not sure if its supposed to be like this or if its a bug..

but using my logitech mouse, scrolling down is now scrolling up & up is down, its as if they mistakenly swapped the scroll functions for up & down, in finder, in safari, everywhere..

You now directly influence the content, not the viewer.

To make the page go down you drag it down, to make the page go up you push it up.

Give it a few days and it will start to feel "right." I'm constantly going the wrong way on Snow Leopard machines now.

Lion updated my FaceTime app

My FaceTime app was updated from 0.9 to 1.1. I never had to pay the 99 cents.

What version of iTunes comes with Lion? Is it 64 bit?

AI is saying a 64 bit update is upcoming but I thought someone mentioned having it with their Lion install.

Are you using Lion? If you are it is there! I changed it myself just now...

Oh never mind i found it, my iMac is in dutch & i was looking for 'Natural scrolling'.. or 'Natuurlijk scrollen' as it would be in dutch but i couldn't see it anywhere, but seems like they translated it as 'Move material in the direction of finger movement in scrolling or navigating'.. jeez x) they could've translated it a bit shorter tbh lol ... but no worries i found it.

App Store

This is a nightmare.

So far today i have bought Lion and Lion server twice. Once today and once on the 16th July ????????. Cannot download as app store keeps reporting an error has occurred. Or sit there waiting then reports an error. My Broadband connect is 33Meg so i cannot blame that.

Come back DVD

so much for a lunch time starbucks download

Ya.. 1.3mbps. That will take a little longer than I have for lunch . Guess I'll just have to sit here and enjoy my coffee for a little while and finish the download at home.

I considered using mywi but I imagine att would notice that.

My FaceTime app was updated from 0.9 to 1.1. I never had to pay the 99 cents.

That's because FaceTime comes with Lion as standard. The paid version was/is only for people wanting to upgrade prior to Lion or on older versions of the OS.

Just out of interest, what kind of wait times are people experiencing? I've still got 1.3GB to go with an estimated 80 minutes wait time.

My free Up To Date copy redeemed, and downloading at 50 Mbps. Will be done in a few minutes :)

Apple Servers *won't* get hammered - it's hosted globally on a CDN. Mine is downloading from a server 3 hops away in Hong Kong owned by the ISP I'm with.

Hey how did u used "Free Up to Date Copy" i brought my mac in that window(free update ) only but i don't have anything like that how to use it plz tell me

I tried this and I still get the version error.

Developer program users:

Move to the trash the existing Lion installer you have in your Applications folder (i.e. the GM version downloaded earlier in July).

Close and reopen the App Store and the INSTALL button on the Lion page will become visible. Click it and you'll download the latest version. No need to pay anything.

That's what I'm doing.

Hello.
Tried searching but can't find answer. I plan on buying the new MBA. Am I licensed to download upgrade on my older machines for free? Thanks.

No, when you buy a Mac the software license is for one machine. However Apple's policy may have changed a bit, so read the license agreement that you get with the MacBook Air. I know the download form the App Store is for "all your personal Macs". So maybe Apple is the best place to ask on this, after all it's only $29 for your personal authorized Macs, that's not bad at all. :)

My guess is that those who didn't spend the $30 to update (I did, by the way) will still be able to update the operating system, simply because Apple doesn't want DRM problems.

It's $30, and if you can afford a Mac, you can afford $30, right?

Sorry if this was asked and already answered ... So since I have three Macs is that 29.99 each? With a disc you used to be able to load it on your own 2 or 3 macs.
