With about that much time my install got stuck for probably about 20 minutes before it resumed. I know yours has been longer, but hopefully there's no issue and it will continue to install. Maybe someone else can chime in with some info, but just wanted to let you know it's not hopeless.

Good luck!

Thanks. It gives me some hope. I'm going to try to be patient a little bit longer...

Installed the GM on a MBP and iMac. Install stalled towards the end and it seemed to take FOREVER to complete. I actually went to eat dinner and came back later. It finally did finish. Sorry don't know how long exactly.

For those of you who read my tale of woes back a few posts - I now have Lion up and running fine. I took the plunge of using the Snow Leopard DVD Disk Utility to repair the disk (no problems found) and then repair the permissions. Loads of problems were fixed. After restarting from the HD after it seems to be fine now. Scary and annoying time...but I am now running Lion. This is going to take a while to get used to as my Mac feels quite different now (and not just the scrolling change ;))

You might want to run Repair the Permissions on 10.7 as well. The 10.6 is only going to fix the permissions that 10.6 knows should match for 10.6.

Spotlight is still indexing, but I have no idea what this mobile backups external drive is... Any ideas?

Are you looking for estimated time for download from the Mac App Store? If so, go to the "Purchased" tab and it will be there.

Thanks for the suggestion. Of course being Lion - and only one bootable hard drive/OS - I cannot do this by booting off a DVD (unless I go to the geek level of creating myself one from my Lion installer). It seemed to run though fine and did indeed fix permissions as you implied it would. It does make me concerned though if I need to repair the disc, can I just do it off the system I'm currently running. Maybe I'm just being too old school and that is irrelevant nowadays.

Anyway Lion is running fine now, and thanks again for you input.

So is this normal? The download for Lion went smooth. When I clicked on the installer and I chose my "Macintosh HD" (no tricky stuff like some of you are doing with trying to install on external drives, etc.) it restarted like normal and began installing saying, it would take about 32 minutes. Then, when it got down to "Time remaining: About 18 minutes" it seems to have stuck on that for the past half hour! Progress bar not progressing at all!

I don't know if I should leave it and hope it finishes, or if there is something wrong and I should do a hard reboot and try again? But this shouldn't be happening at all; my computer meets the requirements, I purchased on the Mac App Store, and I have plenty of free space on the main HD (200 GB free on a 500 GB drive.) Any advice or suggestions greatly appreciated while I sit here and wait... :(

Well, it's been over an hour and a half since it showed "About 18 minutes" left to install, so I guess it's safe to say it's not installing properly. Looks like I'm going to have to do a hard shut-down and start all over again (I'll probably have to recover the drive from the Snow Leopard TM backup first.)

I just don't get why this would happen. I've never had this issue on any of my Macs before, and no one else seems to be having installation problems like this... makes me very sad. :(

is the lion installer 3.76 GB?

it said my download didn't fully complete and to try again but after I clicked try again it didn't do anything and the lion installer was there

When the download is done the file will appear in your Dock. Right-click the file and select 'Reveal in Finder'. Just copy that file onto your MacBook Pro through a network, a USB drive, or anything else. I downloaded Lion on my iMac and transfered it to my MacBook Pro over gigabit ethernet in a matter of minutes, it worked great. :D

Good luck!

Where does it put the installer file after downloading it? Will I be able to grab it from a time machine backup I made after downloading but before installing?

Must be something wrong with the burning to the disk. Did you write-and-verify ?

That was it.
I never had to verify before.
I went ahead and installed it on a fresh USB device.
It booted so much quicker then the DVD I made.
It installed without a hitch.

Full screen Safari is almost worth $30 alone.

Lion Download

download was fast
about 40 min
It installed on my macbook pro with ssd drive in 10 minutes

I did have a problem with my trackpad working with the iMac
it would disconnect and reconnect over and over
once I restarted machine the problem was fixed

I like it so far
but it is going to take some getting used to

So I downloaded the file fine but all it says now is waiting. Won't do anything. The icon is in the dock but nothing happens. When I right click on the icon it gives me an option to cancel download but the download progress bar is finished. What gives?

Hi,

I successfully installed Lion, however, after doing so the Install file that I downloaded from the Mac App Store disappeared. It was in the Applications folder at first, but then after the completed install, it was gone. I tried doing a search, it was gone. Anyone know what happened? Anyone know how I can get it back? It doesn't seem like I can download it again on the MAS. In the event that I need to re-install or decide to do a clean install, it doesn't seem like I'd be able to anymore. Suggestions?

Thanks.

I think this is the thread where someone mentioned the lack of a Lion wallpaper. There is one under desktop wallpapers.
