Seriously... Could someone please tell me how you're seeing progress in terms of GB and minutes remaining? All I get is the useless tiny progress bar in the dock. I can't find any way to see the information you're all seeing.

Thanks!

Click the "Purchased" icon on the top of the app store app.

My free Up To Date copy redeemed, and downloading at 50 Mbps. Will be done in a few minutes :)

Apple Servers *won't* get hammered - it's hosted globally on a CDN. Mine is downloading from a server 3 hops away in Hong Kong owned by the ISP I'm with.

lucky you

Not here, mate. Got the (100) error for some reason and said it's temporary unavailable. I was like WTF, that never happened to me before when I download apps from the Mac App Store...

:confused:Same here, staggered releases across the world perhaps?????

So who is doing a upgrade and who is doing a clean install?

I'm not sure yet I wiped my MBP a few months ago and reinstalled Snow Leopard so might just do the upgrade then if I have any problems will do a clean install.

Up-To-Date in USA sends me to a blanks AppStore page, same for everyone else ?

I did a refresh of the page and it came up. I bought my iMac in June after the announcement. Put in the serial number obtained from System Profiler, my purchase date, and point of purchase. I got an Apple Store order form that included my credit card but the price was free. Enter the order and there is a tiny redeem code in the ordered product box. Copy that number then click on the link that takes you to the App Store application. Enter the code and the download will begin.

I guess you're paying extra for the Apple branded drive

I believe they are trying to discourage that behavior :) It is also probably aimed at those upgrading from Leopard. There are very few people without access to good enough broadband or access to an Apple store.

I presume it is still usable by every Mac sharing your Itunes account, so it is a bargain compared to Windows.

Thank you, jackrv.

2.16 GB of 3.74 GB, so maybe it'll finish by the time I leave for work.

To those who are asking "what if you don't have high speed internet," you CAN go buy it and download it from the Apple store, I believe. I mean the PHYSICAL store. You have to take your computer with you, I think, but you can use their internet.

If Lion is only going to be available via download at home or an Apple Store then I think Apple really screwed up.

How many Apple users don't have a practical way to perform a 3.49GB(!) download? Not everyone has access to a high speed connection at home or live a reasonable distance from an Apple Store.

The word that comes to mind to describe the current situation is Arrogance.

PS. I'm on a fast cable modem so the download is fine with me. Not everyone has that luxury.

In the press release it says you'll be able to get it on thumb drive in August for $69.

In the keynote they had said the app store would be the only option, so I wonder if they changed their minds due to complaints.

WTF

I get the error

"this version of 10.7 cannot be installed on this computer"

I have all the requirements!
Except for the fact that it's a hackintosh. :p

I have a i7 hackintosh and had the same problem despite meeting the other requirements, so I think we'll just have to sit pretty until a workaround is found.

Downloaded mine @ 14MBps or 112Mbps. Installing now. I am mainly interested in seeing whether it is the same build as the GM.

Up To Date Serial Number not found!

Just tried to redeem OS X Lion via the up to date program on my imac that I bought from the Apple Online Store on June 17th but it says the serial number is not found! So annoying. Anyone else having this issue?
