Apple Launches OS X Lion Via Mac App Store

I highly recommend that you do a clean install (create a bootable DVD first) instead of an upgrade. I did the upgrade and it overall performance was so slow. The clean install make the system much better.

This link will take you to apple's "up-to-date" program page. You'll register your newly purchased computer there and I believe they'll provide you with a download code for lion.

In the App Store click on the "Purchases" icon and you will get the above screen.
 
Merge Folders

Can anyone let me know if "Merge Folders" made it into the retail build?
Couldn't believe the GM didn't have that. dragging a folder named "stuff" into a folder that already has a folder named "stuff" is supposed to give an option to replace or merge.
 
just tell me 16 days remaining ... and I have a 100Mb/s glas fiber line ... I guess you all need to stop downloading ...

just got an error message; now retry and get 24 minutes left ... there is hope !

As for GM build etc. - I get the following message when I click the "Buy" button - "Install Mac OS X lion 1.0.4 is already installed and was not purchased from the Mac App Store. Do you want to buy OS X Lion 10.7?"

Wonder if this will mean I don't get to update when updates come out.

Yeah, mines going along, albeit rather slowly. I grabbed the free version for my new imac through the up to date section. Did I mention it was slow....

I'm having the same problem with my MBP I bought this past Friday, June the 14th :/ Don't know how to solve it.
 
I have used the serial number of my mom's MBP which she bought yesterday to redeem a copy of Lion. I did have to enter credit card information, even though the total was $0.00.
 
Anyone knows the download location on the mac when you are downloading it?
I don't want to download it several times, just copy the files.

done!!!!! in less than 20 minutes here in Canada using the Canadian App Store!

It's weird that even though I haven't installed yet, it appears as installed on the App Store

yay finally!! now 3 hours till download is completewhy im i in vacation in puerto rico when this launches? enthernet so damn slow ugh
 
So far so good in Utah

Downloading now... Servers seem to be holding up and serving Utah well.
 
So, can anyone tell me where the OS X Lion Installer file will be after i download it... so i can make a bootable disc
 
Australia speed sux balls for me. Maybe one day well be lucky enough to get upgraded to 56k modems.
