Pretty good deal! So the buying the mac and getting free iPod Touch not going on no more I guess.

So if i just bought a new MBP last Friday...any chance i could be squeeze my way into a free ipod?

Can anybody confirm that you can use the rebate on any ipod and not just the ipod touch? I know its been that way in previous years, but whenever I click on the link in the Apple store, it just says the Ipod touch is free.

iPod Touch

So, get the iPod Touch, sell it on CraigsList for $200 still in the box, and then take that money and buy a new iPhone. You can even get a refurb iPhone from AT&T for $99 (8GB) and $149 (16GB) if you don't mind a few smudges on it. Or you could just keep the $200 cash. It's really a win, win situation.

argghhh! did you even READ the article? Especially the chart with the rebates for various models of iPods? (and this is an education promotion!)

Peeps, trust me: not just on this blog but in life, you've gotta read more than the headlines. (end of rant)

$229, eh?

So technically if you can get a free iPod Touch ($229) shouldn't you be able to get a Nano ($149) and a Shuffle ($79) seeing as they add up to $229.

I know the answer is no, but shouldn't that be allowed?

Of course I read the first post. Problem was I couldn't find the pasted table anywhere on apple's website so I was just checking to make sure it was legit. Even the link in the post takes you to a page that just says "free ipod touch". Anyway, found the table in the official terms and conditions for the offer. I guess apple is pushing the touch and not making it obvious that you can get another ipod instead.

THANK YOU. :D

I know it was probably in the fine print and hard to see, but SURPRISE, it does include the whole iPod line. I'm not sure where I got that from, but it caught me by total surprise when I found it.

Don't get me wrong Frump, it's not just you, but that one took the cake, and I liked my cake.

Buying a mac for a *friend*

Hi,

So my friend's brother is in school, and I want to get a mac + ipod for *him* using my credit card and having it sent to my house via apple education store :)

Do I still qualify for the back to school promotion?

Thanks.

Disappointing

I would rather have liked to hear about across the board savings on Apple products or other incentive for folks who already own iPods / iPhones, etc. Something like a Mobile Me / iWork package deal or rebates for the actual Mac purchase would have been nice.

Limiting it to the U.S. education customers seems appropriate on the whole, but not everyone is interested in music players when shopping for computers either for themselves or for their kids for college. It's the Mac, Jack! Save me some money there, Uncle Steve! You can move your iPod inventory in other ways.

If this is all Cupertino will offer this summer, I sure hope what they have planned at WWDC will make up for this disappointment.

Anyone else find it a little unfair that people who get the shuffle only get a $79 rebate while people getting the iPod Classic or Touch get a $229 rebate? I know this is how business works, but the people who get the shuffle are getting stiffed by $150. IMO, everyone should get the same $ amount off. Like the people getting shuffles, or any of the other less expensive would get a free iPod plus whatever's left over of the $229.

It's a promotion they do every year - did you really expect something different?

Anyways - it's something for free for doing nothing more than what you were going to do anyways (buy a mac). If you're not interested in the iPod, then sell it and take that cash as a discount on the computer. ta-da.

Well you have to be able to stump up the $229 first to get iPod Touch. If you can't afford that, then you have to get what you can afford. Shame I know, but, thats how it goes

Uh, it's a rebate - nobody's being "stiffed" as they're getting something free! But anyway, I'm not sure why anyone that wanted a shuffle with this wouldn't just get the touch of classic 120 and then sell it unopened and buy 3 shuffles (nearly) for them and their family/friends?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5H11 Safari/525.20)

I can't believe people are actually complaining about this. Well, actually, I can, but it's still sad.

Anyway, nice that it applied to all iPods this year. Last year it was just the nano and touch.

Dammit I wish they would have offered the Classic last year instead of just the Nano & iPod Touch.

Don't get me wrong, the iPod Touch is a nice piece of hardware, but 32GB is just want too small.

Very likely!!!!

If I remember correctly, last year Apple upgraded the iPod Touch during the promo but only the old models were included in the promo. So this year it is possible that there will be an upgrade before September 8.

If i were to buy an MB in the apple store...is it going to be a rebate or will i just get the ipod for free?

opposed to if i were ordering online.
