So if i just bought a new MBP last Friday...any chance i could be squeeze my way into a free ipod?

Last I checked Apple had a 2 week return policy. Technically they can charge a 10% restocking fee for an open box but from my experience they'll treat it like a closed box return and a resale with a new receipt (which you can put the iPod on) and then qualify for the rebate. That's the way it was a few years ago. The least you can do is talk to someone in a retail store or give them a call. Let them know your situation and hopefully (probably I'd guess) you can find someone who will work it out for you. Good luck.

Hi,

So my friend's brother is in school, and I want to get a mac + ipod for *him* using my credit card and having it sent to my house via apple education store :)

Do I still qualify for the back to school promotion?

Thanks.

It depends on how the paperwork goes - just follow the terms of the promo.

Students buy computers all the time with their Parent's or rich Grandparent's credit cards. Some even have it shipped to uncle's house so they can hide it until graduation and surprise them with the present.

I would rather have liked to hear about across the board savings on Apple products or other incentive for folks who already own iPods / iPhones, etc. Something like a Mobile Me / iWork package deal or rebates for the actual Mac purchase would have been nice.

Limiting it to the U.S. education customers seems appropriate on the whole, but not everyone is interested in music players when shopping for computers either for themselves or for their kids for college. It's the Mac, Jack! Save me some money there, Uncle Steve! You can move your iPod inventory in other ways.

If this is all Cupertino will offer this summer, I sure hope what they have planned at WWDC will make up for this disappointment.

Guy, buy your computer sell the damn ipod still in the box on craigslist for $200. There you just got $200 off the price of the mac. Also shows you apple's profit margin:) They can lose $229 off the top of every computer and not blink an eye.

If you already bought your Mac, try calling customer service and tell them you're thinking of returning the Mac. They have "save the sale" codes they can use to offer you incentives to keep the Mac, and who knows, they might go ahead and extend the ipod touch deal. Not sure about once it's outside the 14 day return period.

haven't seen this on here and not sure where to post this: feel free to move where it should go.

Apple (AAPL) co-founder Steve Wozniak says AAPL CEO Steve Jobs sounds "healthy, energetic" ahead of his expected June return to the company. Woz made his comments on the sidelines of the All Things D conference in Carlsbad, Calif.

It's a promotion they do every year - did you really expect something different?

Anyways - it's something for free for doing nothing more than what you were going to do anyways (buy a mac). If you're not interested in the iPod, then sell it and take that cash as a discount on the computer. ta-da.

Yeah, yeah ... I get it ... I can sell a damned iPod. As for this happening every year, no ... I didn't really know what to expect - since I'm relatively new to the Mac community. I have been around long enough to realize, Apple just doesn't get it or care about pricing vs. value with Mobile Me. Missed opportunity, IMHO.

<<sigh>>

I would like to have seen Apple "Think Different" about the promotion this year. There are many ways to make the BTS Special ... well ... more special.

:apple:

Well this is retarded. I just bought my Macbook Pro a month ago and was looking for a new music player since Zunes don't work on Macs...

Sorry for stupid question but can I still buy Macbook 2.4 for discounted price $1499 with this promo and get my free iPod Touch?

Anyone that purchased during the BTS last year could you tell me if it was a mail in rebate or instant rebate please. I wanna go there today but not sure if i have enough to actually purchase the ipod and do a mail in rebate...any help is appreciated thanks!

Now there's a great idea. I might do that if I buy a new MBP this yr. :)

So, not as good as last year. I thought we might see a rebate for the 16GB touch this year, as that would match the $299 given for the 8GB last year.

It's better than last year as last year they did not include the iPod classic in the promo at all.

I think you can still get the 16gig but just get a rebate for 229 and you cover the rest.

Not as good as last year's. For those planning on getting the iPod and then selling it to subsidize the cost of their Mac, you'll only be getting an iPod valued at $229, instead of $300 like last year.

Nothing to sneeze at, but I was hoping for a bit more.
