I am actually worried now because Tim Cook would do such great sacrifice to put this rare innovative feature that exists in every $150 phone upward on their $800 device, obviously we should not expect such futuristic technology without price increase.
I wasn't trying to defend Apple's decision to price gate that feature. I happen to have a couple of 120Hz screens and I honestly couldn't tell the difference in day-to-day usage compared to 60Hz screens. The 120Hz feature wasn't even a factor to why I decided to buy them in the first place.

I certainly hope it does - along with a LCD plus version.

Touch ID and bezels are infinitely superior to Face ID and idiotic hole punches/notches.
The fingerprint readers that OnePlus uses are just as good as Apple's but they're under the display. The fingerprint readers that Google used with the Pixel 6 and who knows what else are so bad, I barely can use it.

Apple can and should provide an under the display fingerprint reader. They can have their full screen aesthetic and we can have our Touch ID.

Or to “differentiate” regular products from the “Pro” line.
When I was about to buy the iPhone 7 replacement, Apple did something strange, they introduced a ultra expensive model that wasn't any more premium than the iPhone 8 but it was convenience oriented with Face ID.

Learning all of those new gestures was not convenient and I still haven't. Besides, Face ID didn't turn out to be all that convenient during a pandemic but Apple got another US$400 on the iPhone X, and got people confused with the ten/X part again.

Strange people still at this time talk about how bad the iPhone X was. Mine is still working after I gave it to my wife. BTW Face ID worked with no problem. Costly ok, but it lasted far longer than expected years later

I'd rather they didn't.

The home button enables a FAR better UI than an under-screen fingerprint reader.

I don't understand all the noise about 120Hz. It provides ZERO improvement over 60Hz. As you've noted, it's not even perceptible.

Yes it is bad. The X not getting iOS 17 when the iPad 6th Gen got iPadOS 17 and 7th Gen iPad getting iPadOS 18, two iPads in which they’re A10’s run dual core ( A10’s 4 cores don’t run simultaneously) whilst A11 has 6 cores which run simultaneously and it doesn’t get iOS 17, yes oh yes it’s bad

There’s a rule in the Apple world and that’s not to get an original in its kind and that’s including the original and first faceID/all screen iPhone. And that is evidenced by the X’s successors getting iOS 18 getting features X users wish they will get

Maybe this is one of those M1 moments when Apple gives their users an actual good deal so they can pump the numbers up on how everyone wants AI features. Or they'll find another way to hobble the low end while saving exclusive features for the high end. They could stop at just the camera and display differences but this is Apple after all.

The iPhone X wasn't bad. It lasted and still works for (for my wife) those who still have it. When I bought the iPhone X years ago, I knew it would be obsolete someday I didn't believe it be supported up to this date. I am Happy I owned it. Saying it is not a good Upgrade from the iPhone 8 is nonsense

It’s not that the iPhone X was so bad. But I took one look at its price and decided that I never again would have to have the latest and greatest iPhone.

Got a typo here - should say iPhone 14 Pro Max:
The ‌iPhone 15‌ models have the A16 Bionic chip that was first used in the iPhone 14 Pro models, which had corresponding model numbers of ‌iPhone 15‌,2 for the ‌iPhone 14‌ Pro and ‌iPhone 15‌,3 for the ‌iPhone 15 Pro‌ Max. The ‌iPhone 15 Pro‌ and Pro Max have the A17 Pro chip, hence the 16,x identifier.

I've been wondering if Apple could get away with shipping the base iPhone with a 60Hz display in 2024. The 15 Pro is my very first 120Hz iPhone and I love it, but not sure if it's a too flgashippy feature or are we over this now?
It’s common used now in every midrange phone even in some cheaper phones. I expect Apple will keep this a “flagship feature” for as long as possible. That’s how things goes these days under Timmy 🤑

Apple Intelligence is going to be half-baked until 2025, so get that year's model which will have an even better Neural Engine.
better wait another year till all bugs and shortcomings are ironed out. Apple says its beta. We all know what that means 🤐

We don't know if this is marketing only. A18 could be a slower and cost reduced N3E version of A17 Pro.
^this

it would be odd to see apple pivot from this…they made the transition to differentiate regular and pro chips since iphone 13/pro

Apple’s SOC hegemony is over. I hope they won’t cheapgoat on RAM and display refresh rates this time by feeling more pressure from the competition.

Ah yes, Apple future proofing our devices for “features to come in the future.” Features they will most certainly then restrict from those future-proofed devices to push an upgrade cycle lol.

It’s same as with PlayStation. Once you play on the new generation. Previous games generations start looking like sh… and you start thinking how you could enjoy playing the game with such poor graphics ;D Have you ever tried 120 hz display? Try it. You will never want to move back to 60hz.

I have an iPhone 14 Pro which I believe is 120 Hz. I didn't really notice any improvement from the iPhone 11 Pro. I wouldn't even know what to look for.

I don't game or even watch videos (except maybe a few of the short videos I record myself) on my iPhone.

120 Hz is very noticeable. Just because it's not to some of you, doesn't mean it's not noticeable for everyone.
