This post is incredibly active so I don’t know if anyone has mentioned or noticed this already, but the image used on the display appears to be in landscape. Most reports suggest the larger device will support landscape mode, like the current Plus models and iPads do, but that landscape will not be available on the smaller device. Anyone else think the image suggests both versions will support a landscape interface?
Then I’ll take that as a hint to jailbreak my current iPX for true landscape orientation

Apple fanboys are ultra defensive about the ridiculous iPhone excess/tennis name lol

Sad...

What’s sad is people on here being critical of others over their brand preference. This is so tiring and stop with the Apple fanboy ****....like there aren’t Android fanboys, Samsung fanboys, etc....

I know I’m reaching here, but I hope the circle in the invitation refers to touch-ID coming back under the screen, that circle is reminiscent of the steel ring around the home button.
yes but the copper qi coil rumor (also, is have copper wires really a feature?! I mean c'mon!)

what I have had happen: apple lightning cables fail at the rubber strain relief or the internal wires open circuit. As well as getting little charred lighting contacts that eventually stop working
Charred?!!! Did you have actual lightning?

Brand preference and blind fanboyism are not the same thing....

lol there is a guy a few pages back that said he won't buy it because of the name

People are living a good life when 90% of the posts in this thread consists of complains about how stupid the naming schemes is in a post about leaked images of the new iPhone models.

When you read through these comments it almost seems like the name of the phone is massively important for most people and some kind of deal-breaker...

Who cares about the name? It's not even displayed on the phone itself, the back only says iPhone... Why take this so personally? Does it even matter in the end? Will it affect your desire to get the phone, will it affect the total amount of sales? Not at all....
[doublepost=1535756748][/doublepost]Well, there are many more material options including various composites, but carbon fiber, synthetic crystal and ceramic are three very interesting materials. If Apple made a phone that had a display made of sapphire crystal instead of glass, and the body was ceramic, it would be very, very difficult to scratch. Shatter... now that's a different story.

What does distinct form factor mean? There’s only so many ways to go with a smartphone which is why they all kind of look similar now. Apple did try colored plastic and people hated it. The tech press hated it because they’ve decided anything not metal isn’t premium. Apple has used aluminum, stainless steel, glass and plastic. What other materials are there to use?

Well I don’t agree with you opinions of iPhones but nothing you suggest would be any sort of radical design change.woukd still look like a flat slab of glass. Because that makes the most sense. No point in reinventing something that doesn’t need to be.

Which I completely agree with you about. It doesn't take a radical new design to innovate new features and keep a phone feeling fresh.

I wish Apple would have figured that out years ago before killing every Mac line.

Right - you probably said iPad is a horrible name because it sounds like a feminine hygiene product, back when it was fist introduced.

Nope.

XS is weird. However, in fairness, we don’t know the actual styling for the name. 9to5 ran with XS but later said it could be XS, Xs, X(S), etc.

If X is the name of the future of iPhones, where do they go next year if they’re going to treat it like a tick tock style with S updates? XI? XIS? Mixing Roman numerals with letters? Will they have a significant design change for XI?

It’s all messy. And lets be honest, it’s because iPhone is massive for Apple and with numbers they can keep driving sales and upgrades. It would be much nicer if they just stuck to simple names like their other products. Like iPhone SE, iPhone and iPhone X. We already have iPad, iPad Pro, MacBook, MacBook Pro, iMac, iMac Pro...

So I guess we aren't getting any explanation for how these were found? The story is very poorly written, with no details and various levels of confidence in the actual name. Wtf is going on?!

The OLED display opens a lot of possible features that Samsung has been delivering on for years. An always on clock, new/stock/text message ticker, etc.

The last few years of flagship Samsungs have come in much nicer colors than iPhone, and the finish that samsung has that almost looks like color behind a thin layer of glass is far prettier than Apple's cheap-crap looking rough aluminum finish (or in the case of Jet Black, shiny that looks like the same finish as a dollar store toy).

Revolutionary features like an SD slot and 3.5mm stereo pin would be better. I still don't see any reason to replace an iPhone 6s. imo the iPhone 8 is the same a 6s with a better camera and wireless charging. Of the 3 features, the only one I care about is the headphone jack. I don't see the 2018 models changing the equaltion.

So you give the finish of a Samsung phone as a positive feature, but then say you see no reason to upgrade from a 6s to an 8 with a similar finish? FWIW, the Samsung colors are hideously ugly.

Also, an SD card slot and a hundred-year-old port are "revolutionary features?" Damn, the bar is low these days.

And Apple is universally lauded for their design prowess, with numerous pieces in art museums. But no, I'm sure they developed an enormously expensive and complex process just to produce a "dollar store toy" finish.

Some people just have poor taste. Buy a Samsung phone if you love them so much.

they might do the xs and then next year the x2 and continue on like that as a separate branch from the numbers of iphones.

Brand preference and blind fanboyism are not the same thing....

Lol of course not. Way to go....

Way to read my post and spin it some other way. Keep spending time on here calling out blind fanboyism or whatever other crap you wish to peddle, really sad to see some have nothing better to do....

Why does a phone need to feel fresh? Most people don’t replace every year anyway and those that do probably are probably on installments and would upgrade anyway. I guess I don’t ever look at my phone and think gee I wish it looked fresh.

Seems like change for the sake of change, especially if you’re trading one problem (scratching) for another (easily breakable if dropped).

Looks like the name is official: iPhone Xs

It makes complete sense to continue with the numbering system.

But Apple already has so much trouble with people calling the "ten" the "ex"... and now people will call this new one the "ex-ess" model, not the "ten-ess". Shame. What a dumb name, if you ask me.

Agreed. The gold looks stunning. I wonder what it'll look like in person though, whether its more yellow than copper? I'd much prefer a yellow gold.

I'm not in love with Apple's newest "blush" gold aluminum color. I feel like the original champagne gold of the iPhone 5s and the 12" MacBook is great and the rose gold addition forced them to consolidate the colors into one. It's ok, and copperish, but still prefer the original.

That said, I feel like the gold tint of the stainless steel is something completely different. It's not quite yellow gold and definitely has some of that blush/copper look to it, but looks nice to me. I'm just tired of the space gray/silver/black/white colors and excited for the gold to mix things up. Here's a better look at it from the FCC leak:

Saying that the iPhone excess/tennis name sounds stupid is not trolling. Just because this is an ‘Apple forum’ doesn’t mean everyone has to kiss Apple’s rear end and fawn over them when it is not deserving.

Ps it doesn’t suck to be me because I allow myself to have an opinion

So lets get this straight...

You hate brussel sprouts and the new iPhone name.

You sure it doesn't suck to be you?

OK OK OK, now I'm trolling you. I'm sorry!

I'd rather eat a brussel sprout than have an iPhone tennis.

Fingers and toes crossed leaks are wrong
