Does anyone know from experience what the chances are that physical Apple stores will restock these for in store pick up before the estimated ship dates of Dec 15th-ish?

They are filtering through to stores but very slowly. I have an online order for the 15th December too but my local store has a couple in stock so I shall reserve one and pick it up on saturday

You’re so lucky! I’ve been checking every day and it always says unavailable so I wasn’t sure if they were still restocking and I just kept missing them or what.

Its pot luck really. I have a 12 pro on order and keep checking the retail store to see if any come in. When I pick my wallet and new nike watch band up on Saturday, I will ask if they have any phones as the retail stock reports can be a little behind

In London England when they grab your phone off you in the street as they ride past on motorbikes they will have your cards as well, so not a great idea unless you are lucky and the useless magnet lets the wallet fall off for you to recover! Also when you want to get your train pass out you have to get your phone out as well, more chance of being robbed, but maybe you live in a posh area with no crims, so yes handy to use in your home or safe environments I guess, leading edge technology attached to bleeding edge technology.

That's the whole point of activation lock. This used to happen in NY but much less now because it wasn't worth it. But also, how do you account for the people who use those wallet cases? So many people use those and it doesn't really deter people from using them and there aren't exactly news reports of this being an issue. I frequented London before lockdown (family & work) and I never felt I was in danger of this in (pre-gentrification) Peckham or anywhere else in London.

On close inspection, my wallet seems defective - a dent on the bottom edge which looks like uneven glueing. Gonna call Apple tomorrow to arrange for a replacement. Not happy!

..you're returning because of that miniscule dent???!?!? WOW.....

Its made of leather - no two wallets will be 100% identical. Leather has imperfections by nature.

Not really sure why you’re so absolutely against the wallet. If it’s not for you that’s fine, some will like it and others won’t. Each to their own and all that.

Plenty of people keep cards in their phone cases already, therefore it’s no bigger risk than that. But let’s be honest if someone wants to rob you they will one way or the other, whether you have a conventional wallet or anything else.

I want to purchase an Apple one, but I’ve decided to try a cheap eBay one first that I got for £5.99 to see how it feels and how much I use it before I go all out.

Well i pick my baltic blue wallet up from my nearest Apple store on Saturday. I am glad i reserved it because I also have an order in progress with the online store for the same product as contingency.. Delivery date for the online order was the 15th December and that's now been pushed back to mid-January. In years of Apple products, I have never had a delivery date rushed back like that

Any of you guys concerned that the wallets will mark the back of your silicone/leather cases when attached to your iPhones?

This is my biggest concern as I really don't want it to leave a mark on my gorgeous baltic blue leather Apple case...!

It could, but much less chance than when charging with magsafe as no heat is involved.

Don't think this will happen, it's just going to be leather + leather or leather + silicone touching, not metal like the magsafe charger.

If a small shard of metal sandwiches in between the case and the wallet the leather will get damaged. Plus, the extra pressure of having that small shard sandwiched between the phone and wallet and being in your pocket will definitely cause some damage. That’s just my take on it. I doubt it will happen, but there’s a small possibility it can happen. I say enjoy the wallet and case and worry about the damage if it ever happens. 👍🏻

One more sleep, 9.20pm here in London, XS Max fully backed up, 12 Pro Max arrives tomorrow, will test the plasticy so called leather Apple case on it as soon as it is delivered and see if it makes any difference, if not the case is going back and I will buy a proper leather one that looks like leather, smells like leather and IS real leather 👍

Luckily my cult prevention medication has been working and I have zero interest in the fail wallet, although I do understand some people may well have not taken theirs 😄

Peace to all and happy 12 Pro Max day to those who only want the best!

The edge is not just purely leather - it feels like rubber/glue. By nature & by production fault are two completely different things. To each their own on accepting imperfections.

It is funny because i am getting crapped on about a dent on my wallet edge out of the box. And then you asked about wear and tear... if it happens, that should be completely acceptable.

Which leather case(s) are you considering? I’m still using my Nomad case.

I ordered a MagSafe wallet (Baltic Blue) earlier today and the estimated delivery for every color was December 15 - 22. I checked again later today and the date for all colors is showing December 8 - 15 but my estimated delivery status hasn't changed. 🤷🏻‍♂️.

Thanks for the link! And those do look really nice.
Beautiful leather, smell nice, can also be used on the magnetic holders in the car without affecting MagSafe charging if you use it, I have posted some pics of an old one a few posts back, if you use the code NODUS10 at checkout you seem to get £3.99 off, but they may do something more for Black Friday so keep a look out. I had better get some sleep may well have my new phone in less that 9 hours 👍😁
