I suspect this could be the case. If Apple does not release sales numbers after the launch and Cook just says demand is "off the charts", we'll know there is a problem.

Apple stopped releasing launch weekend sales numbers after the iPhone 6. No reason to think they would do it for the X. You most likely will not see any hard numbers until Q4 results are announced next year.

I've never heard of these YouTubers. My tech subscriptions that would review this include MKBHD and Barnacules, if he even gets one. I think Techmoan said he's on a 6 and may upgrade. I was also subscribed to Chris Pirillo, but I've been following him recently.

Am I missing out? Should I subscribe to these folks?

MKBHD is a great tech YouTuber but I’m not a big fan of his videos on iOS products. I’m guessing he only uses iOS during review periods. He’s missed some important features in videos that he should have known had he been more familiar with the OS.

No iJustine? Shocking. She is the biggest Apple fangirl on YouTube. She has been a fan since the dark times of Apple (mid-90s).

Apple, show her some love! Nintendo did so for her when Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was released last March. They brought in a Mario mascot. Justine even got to interview Shigeru Miyamoto (who doesn't speak much English) a few years back and has an autographed 3DS on a display that she proclaims is her favorite thing ever.

Good to see SoldierKnowsBest get it. He is probably the one I am most familiar with here. I expect The Verge to drop their video review in two days. MKBHD and Mr. Mobile probably drops their's by next week. The Verge tends to be the most popular because how well it is shot and isn't too long.

Yup. I agree completely. Get ready to be attacked. :apple:

You agree, specifically based on what? The only official statement we have from Apple is that sales are “off the charts”, and this does not jibe well with “desperation”, along with iPhone 8 doing great in China.

We’ll see in 3 months how “desperate” Apple really is; Wall Street seems to be very pleased so far, with a fresh all time high set today.

They only blink on these videos because the video camera being used is not filtering out the infrared lights properly. In actual life your eyes wont see it.
Exactly. Much like pointing a tv remote at a camera to check the batteries.

This must be the most random bunch of YouTubers ever. I mean there are so many better ones to pick from. MKBHD, Unbox Therapy, UrAvgConsumer, Jonathan Morrison etc. High Snobiety ain’t even a tech YouTube channel, just some watered down news publication.

UrAvgConsumer has a video out as well.

So let me get this straight...
Apple lures them into a “nondescript building” and offers them a free iPhone X?

Not creepy at all. :D

These seem identical to the announcement day hands on.

Where are the real reviews - or more importantly - my own launch day hands on?
My guess the full reviews on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning (or whenever the embargo is over). I think these previews are just to wet our appetite.

I would urge all reviewers and users to not give Apple a pass on this phone. Especially regarding the new Face ID system. If it turns out to be the best thing since sliced bread, then so be it. But if it is not as great as they tried to make it seem during the keynote, if it is slow, if it doesn't work that well, then let Apple know in no uncertain terms. Don't just accept it as better because it is new and Apple says it's great. I'm an Apple person for sure. I've had a new model every year from the 4s to the 8. And I have thought every one was a little better than the one before and never regretted upgrading. We also have an iMac and MacBook Pro (both older) and 3 iPads of various ages (none new), and two other iPhones for wife and daughter so I'm not some troll or hater. But, after seeing multiple users show off the face ID, I can honestly say I think it is a step backward. It is slower than touch ID and requiring the look plus the swipe up just makes it seem even slower in actual use. I'm just not sure it was the best way to go. Maybe the best they could come up with in time this year though. After many real world users get their hands on it, we'll know for sure. Not impressed right now though.

Smart marketing, these few Youtubers will get more views than the top few publications will. I think the opinions of these may carry greater weight than those of The Verge or Engadget these days also.
Agree, it’s a smart move. Just avoid Apples’s cafeteria if you need a shoot location.
