If it'll be more expensive, then they'll keep the current gens and keep the pricing or drop it slightly. Similar to when they were fazing out the cMBPs with the rMBPs.

I hope not. the cMBP is an outlier for how Apple usually does business, at least on their computer lineup. The last thing they need is more SKU's lingering around to confuse the consumer.

And what happened to Apple's image as THE tech leader? On the one hand, we have Phil touting Apple's "courage" in removing the headphone jack from the iPhone, while they still sell a 4 year old laptop with an optical drive? Cognitive dissonance if you ask me.

Going to be bunch crap if ask me. 4 USB-C and 3.5 headphone jack, as pictured above.

If you buy the new iPhone 7 and have their new lightning port headphones. You will need a Lightning to USB-C adapter to use their new products together. The adapter they provide with iPhone 7 wont work; you will require an additional adapter.

WTF? If you release two new products in same year and only months apart they both need to support the same technologies.

Not to mention we will be required to sync iPhone via WiFI and unable to plug phones into MBP to charge natively.

Great point! Why on earth would Apple not include a lightning connector? Surely there is enough room. I'm sure you're right...and if you are...I have to seriously question Apple's lack of continuity on ports...crazy!

Also, MagSafe has been the best thing EVER for laptops. Why on earth would they remove this?!?!

Wonder if they will remove the 3.5mm audio jack.

I hope they don't remove the magsafe port, I think that is one of their coolest laptop innovations.

I am curious if Apple will kill the Mac Pro and Mac Mini. I can see them saying that because nobody purchases those anymore (due to the lack of updates.. Apple), then that is the reason why they will stop shipping those products.
I hope not. I have student programs and those computers are the only ones we can really afford. Also they are easy to move in bulk.

A spec upgrade w/o any of the gimmicky touch bar BS or removal of the MagSafe, headphone jack, SD slot, sounds perfect to me.

3-4 TB3/USB-C ports, SD slot, headphone jack, MagSafe, BTO options for 2TB SSD, 32GB ram, and God willing decent dGPU, and I'm happy.

Hell, go back to the non-retina 2012 form-factor with more serviceability/upgradability, and I'm running down main street naked, cheering!

I Think it really depends on how well they see the surface doing in the near future. If they have any concerns, they will add the touch bar and eventually other gimmicky things. I would try the surface if it ran iOS. I like the concept, just not willing to give Microsoft a try.

What they really needed to do was to retire Lightning in favour of USB-C.. But that would require.. courage? :)

I just got my iPhone 7 and realized I'm the one that pays the price for their courage. I'm going to have to tape a dongle to the back of the case or something. An iPhone case with a dongle compartment I guess?;)

If it's gonna have 4 USB-C ports and a headphone jack only, than it absolutely won't deserve the "Pro" tag...

Everyone prepare for #USBGate, #SDCardGate, #MagSafeGate and #HDMIGate…

that's what they said, when the current pro arrived without a CD Drive too.

Except it will only have USC-C ports, and no HDMI nor will it have USB-A. Will see what Timmy releases but Timmy has released some pretty lame stuff lately.
There are plenty of docks out there with all of those ports. Plus a native USB-C to HDMI adapter spec is in the works.

Maybe Apple doesn't expect them to stay plugged into the wall all the time.

Isn't that the point of having 10-hour battery life?

Perhaps you're supposed to charge your laptop overnight... and then use it unplugged most, if not all, of the next day.

iPhones and iPads don't have MagSafe either. :)

You'll get into the habit of charging it... and then using it unplugged.

Just seems since this basic design concept has been around since 2008 there would be a solution to the overheating / GPU failures. Other than using a lac-luster GPU I mean.

So they're going to release laptops with cpu's that are already on the market for 1 year...

Gone are the days I guess when Apple would release new machines with brand new Intel cpu's that nobody else had for a few more months... Now they are charging premium pricing for oldtechnology, milking it for years on end...

Maybe, just maybe they will surprise us with Kaby Lake MBP's. Though I'm not betting on it.

So you want a Core m-based MacBook Pro? The best Kaby Lake processor out there is the 15W, which would be suitable for an updated Air but likely only for a base model 13" Pro.
but the 15W processors apple usually uses in the MacBook Air are not available yet either.

Really tempted to upgrade to a new iMac. Hopefully the specs are decent compared to my mid-2012 rMBP. I feel like Intel hasn't been increasing speed very much the past few years.
That's because Intel hasn't been increasing speed. 2.4GHz - 3.7GHz is where they have been at for a couple of generations now. Their focus has been smaller and more transistors, so that they don't need to increase the clock speed, and power usage. Better transistors = clock speeds don't need to increase = less power draw = less heat.

And I just sold my mid-2012 15 inch RMBP on Monday, so I've got a good chunk of the $$$ ready to spend! What timing....I need to play the Lotto with this kind of luck.
