Still very disappointed there won't be a new and updated Ipad Air 3 till 2016!! :( :(

Does not make sense at all not updating the most populer size Ipad which is the 9.7 inch ipad.

I was going to buy the Ipad Air 3 but it looks like there won't be a new updated Ipad Air so it will be the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 then!

Why does it make no sense? When the Air 2 came out it was far beyond everything else Apple offered for an iDevice. This year everything else is just catching up (iPhone, iPad Mini.)

There isn't really anything they could add to it right now that would make much a difference. A8X isn't far behind what a A9 is rumoured to be, it already has 2gb of ram. The only thing would be Force Touch, but who knows if they are even ready to be able to put that in the larger than iPhone panels.

The iPad Air 2 doesn't need to be updated this year. It's still the fastest, most powerful iDevice they offer currently. Even compared to a brand new iPhone 6s or 6s+ it's not far behind, thanks to the tri-core A8X and 2gb of ram. Mini 4 will only be brought up to Air 2 standards, Pro will probably be more powerful for obvious reason.

Not if the iPad Mini gets the new A9X chip, then the Air 2 will not be the fastest anymore. Unless Apple decide to put slower chips in their iPads then their iPhones.
The only reason they won't update the Air is because it's lacking sales, in fact I won't be surprised if they scrap in 2 years time.

I doubt they would put an A9X into a Mini. A8X or A9 tops. Have they even begun producing the A9X at all? Never even heard rumours of it yet.

So l, question is will it be a bit like this:

"Welcome to this event! We have lots of exciting things to show you! An all new ipad an all new apple TV and TV streaming service! Oh yea we also upgraded the iPhone but look at the TV and ipad!"

Sounds like an amazing event I just hope that iPhone gets enough love as I'm ready for one!

i hate how they rush through the keynote nowadays focusing on the wrong things. instead of talking about how the design came to be and the thoughts and details they put into it, they instead show some stupid game demos and SMILIES

What if the iPad Pro is simply the next iteration of iPad that would've been the "Air 3"?

I'm eagerly anticipating an iPad Pro. But so far everything has been rumor and the rumors have been all over the place.... so I can't get too jazzed up over it yet.

I absolutely want stylus support and iPad Pro features, but I don't want a 12.9" tablet. If the iPad Pro is the next 9.7" tableted, i'll be thrilled.

But like you, I can't really get excited because the rumors are all over the place.

no ipad air update? how are ipad sales going to get any better with ipad mini 4 and ipad pro update.. those sizes are too small or too big :(

No Air 3? :(

I'm not trying to complain because I know there is a lot of built up excitement for the iPad Mini and Pro, but I'm finally ready to upgrade my iPad 3. A mini is too small for me and a Pro would kind of defeat the purpose for me.

Exactly!!!

I completely agree!! the 12.2 inch Ipad Pro is way too big and and not that portable and being that big ot defeats the purpose of a tablet for me and the 7.9 inch Ipad Mini is too small and does not offer enough screen real estate.

But the 9.7 inch Ipad or any 4:3 9.7 inch tablet(Like Samsung Galaxy Tab S2) t offers the best of both worlds in plenty/ lots lots of portability and offers just enough screen real estate!!

How about keeping the expectations low so we'll be pleasantly surprised...

iPhone 6s! It's 1.07 times as fast as iPhone 6!
iPad Pro! It's exactly the same as iPad Air, only thinner and 1.04x as fast!
New Magic Mouse, it's the first completely flat mouse!
New Magic Keyboard, resurrecting this amazing technology!

Aaaaand one more thing...

We're introducing the all new Apple TV! It's exactly the same as previous generation but we increased RAM from 512 MB to 768 MB and it's thinner!

but will they improve the screens of the mini? I loved my mini but I traded it in for an iPad Air 2 because the colors represented by the Mini's screen were so dull and washed out. I prefer the Mini size, with the Air 2 screen quality!

I doubt the Mini will be getting an X chip. Would it be able to deal with the power use?

Color me skeptical about an iPad Pro announcement. And I would be completely amazed if this fabled tablet had USB ports.

It wouldn't even surprise me if there's no mention of the Apple TV.

You can pay more than that now for an iPad air.

However, a stylus..... Steve Job is going to rise as a walker and come looking for brains!

I know that you're kidding, but people need to stop caring about what Steve Jobs would think. Technology changes so rapidly and Jobs died years ago. No one makes phones based on what Alexander Graham Bell thought a phone should be anymore.

I wonder if it's going to be positioned as a Surface Pro competitor? Or just s bigger iPad? With multitasking now in IOS 9 a bigger iPad might not be such a bad thing.

Let's be clear on something. A larger display does not make it pro. More icons on the grid does not make it pro. What makes it Pro is a file system. Desktop widgets. Or default apps. Or full OS X. I do not take the name iPad pro lightly. It either has those things or it's another toy.

a9x wouldn't matter as much as having more ram.

So, iPhones 6S, iPhone 6S+, new Apple TV, iPad Pro, iPad mini 4, new keyboard, new magic mouse, new Watch sport bands .... anything else?

This will be an expensive month!
The keyboard and mouse are the only thinks out of place here. All the other items are iOS-related (considering the watch as an iPhone accessory).

The keyboard and mouse are more typically viewed as Mac accessories, so I'd expect them to be announced when a new iMac comes out.

i"m surprised to hear this, i thought that Apple would be announcing it at a separate event in October, not sure how reliable this information is tho. Wouldn't Apple be worried that the iPad Pro could upstage the iPhone 6S or the other way around? i'm looking forward to seeing the iPad Pro so if it's announced next week that's great :) I'm just surprised that they would do this.
They probably do not care because they might target the iPad Pro to, well, professionals. Therefore the average consumer won't be affected anyways by the iPad announcement.
