More Proof of Imminent Verizon iPhone Launch
By Bob Bhatnagar - Published January 2nd 2011

Every day seems to bring another reveal in the ongoing wait for a Verizon Wireless iPhone launch. This weekend is no different, with online catalog screen shots from offwire.com leaked in news reports showing Verizon Wireless iPhone 4 cases manufactured by Case-Mate.

It's not clear whether or not there are any changes in case design required for the Verizon iPhone 4 model. The entries have since been pulled off of the web. Text anticipating the Verizon launch was also discovered on a Case-Mate landing page:

It’s coming. The Verizon iPhone 4 is on its way and we’ve got you covered with the largest selection of cases and accessories. Sign up to be the first to know when our Verizon iPhone products arrive and are available to order. From the Tough protective cases to the slim Barely There, our most popular cases have been redesigned to specially fit the Verizon iPhone......

You know...here's something people haven't considered...

I hear a lot of people talk about how other cell phone makers come out with dozens of handsets a year and yet Apple only has 1 new one per year.

Wouldn't it be interesting if Apple switched to a 'twice a year' plan? So we get the 5 now for Verizon and AT&T and the 6 in the Summer?

And forget about them being big huge changes like before...think of them more like Macbook updates. Just slight bumps every few months. So...yeah, by the time your contract is up you're 4 versions behind instead of 2...but so what? It's the exact same "2 years of technology" behind as you would've been otherwise. Looking at the big picture you'd be in exactly the same place.

What it WOULD accomplish is that the long "don't buy an iPhone!" stretch of april-may-june would be shrunk to a single month twice a year.

This would TOTALLY screw with the "I've gotta have the newest phone!" crowd...but frankly they deserve to be screwed with. The normal public would probably appreciate a system where they're never all that far behind no matter when they buy an iPhone.

I think that is what is going to happen, and I've and others mentioned it quite a few times...

Its the Verizon iPhone.

Other US carriers would be good since I want Apple to do a US unlocked PAYG iPhone. Then I might get one without paying the ridiculous prices they cost over here.

Why would they release a new version of the iPhone 4 just a couple of months before they normally announce the new iPhone?

I doubt they will put all that development into a product with such a short lifespan whilst working on a newer model

I think it's interesting that no one ever considers the idea that Verizon may possibly get the updated model a few months earlier than AT&T gets it. Not saying that this is how it'll happen, but it's definitely a possibility.

Cdma

If there were an Verizon iPhone - would that than work only in the US? Or would this be a triple/quadruple band? How about those trips to Europe, CDMA doesn't work over there...?

There are times when I miss working at Apple. I really enjoyed the energy and fun atmosphere but stuff like this really made it difficult to last. It became more and more apparent that my life in Apple's eyes was insignificant (gotta luv those last minute launches and Sunday night meetings). I know it's only 3 weeks and lots of places do it but if there is a company out there that knows how to over-staff... it's Apple.

That is a VERY good point. As much as I'd like this to be a sign of the new iPad I think NebulaClash is correct that this will be a new iPhone on a new carrier since it will require a lot more hand-holding when customer purchase one.

Apple Stores are more than just churning out the goods! All hands on deck allows people to buy iPad/iPhone quickly and allows more employees to help set up the device for the customer and help them shop efficiently.

For our business, our Verizon rep told us to call on Feb. 12 to get our hands on the Verizon iPhone. I'm not sure if this is an enterprise release date or consumer.

Why would this be news that Apple is limiting their employee vacations? Does the internet get updates when Macy's limits the employee vacations during the busy holiday shopping season?
This site is MacRumors, not MacysRumors, hence the different focus of the topic matter here.

How much time could it honestly take to introduce a Verizon iPhone...it appears to be very similar to the GSM AT&T version. I figure 10 minutes introducing it and then 5 minutes listening to Verizon's CEO about how much they love Apple and are excited about the partnership..blah, blah, blah.

Most Apple events are 1 1/2 hours so the remaining time will be spent on introducing the new iPad.

Here is my prediction on how it will go down...

10 minutes: Stats
15 minutes: Verizon iPhone
60 minutes: iPad 2 (complete with Verizon CDMA version)

The normal public would probably appreciate a system where they're never all that far behind no matter when they buy an iPhone.

I think Apple already does that by making it a yearly update you know its at least "New" a year from june and looks the same (if the rumors are true) for 2 years consecutive... most of the general public don't realize there is a new iPhone every June some think iP 3g and 3gS are the same as i assume will happen with iP5 .

Macbook pro line up is in this Keynote????

We can hope, but it's highly unlikely if Apple unveils a Verizon iPhone AND/OR the iPad Rev. 2. They can only unveil so many products in an hour or two time frame lol.

This is also likely.

I think it will be the Verizon iPhone with a 50/50 chance they also announce the new iPad 2 which will ship in March and they will also announce a nice price drop ($100+) for the current iPad to keep them selling.

hehe yea... i m so excited waiting for the next line up in MBP :)
i hve my iphone 4 so not tht excited, still wanna see the difrnces in with my one & the upcoming one...
so we are like just kept in predictions by the Apple team hehe lol;)

Please let it be the Verizon iPhone ... Not that I really care since I have no problems with it on AT&T, but what really bothers me is the constant 'rumor' about being released within a few days/weeks and all the coworkers stopping at my desk and asking "Did you hear anything new about the Verizon iPhone" ... I'm sick of those Verizon rumors.

Besides of that, I wish it would be the iPad2, but guess that won't happen until March.

I think it will be the same price points but it will go from 16/32/64 to 32/64/128. They may keep the current generation iPad 16 GB and sell for $399 to make the entry price lower.

But I think there are lot of people(and count me in please) who are DYING for mbp update so it would be fantastic if it does.

At this point, I truly hope that apple will have event at all for next tuesday as I am getting sick of others announcing their stuff which I won't buy.

Also to those who say either they are angry or will anger others if ipad 2 gets released in early this year.. umm.. how do you think people who owns droid feels? At least ipad was out for 10 month.. I bought droid X.. and month later, finding myself already being old.... as in old technology...
With that logic, no product should get introduced in first 4 month of the year as it should not PO consumer since xmas is biggest shopping time
