I must say none of these music rumors are interesting to me. I think there's so many other things Apple should be spending their money on. To me music is so last decade and it blows my mind that Apple of all companies is so far behind in this space. Is there anything Apple could announce that would blow people away at this point? Is someone going to leave Spotify or Google Play Music because Apple's paying Pharrell big bucks to be a DJ on iTunes Radio? I doubt it.

Apple let your hardware/software be cool not what "other" people perceive as being cool. Didn't you learn your lesson with the U2 deal?

Apple execs seem convinced that "human curation" will be the differentiator that sets their music service apart. I just wonder how much people care at this point. Do people really care that a station or playlist they're listening to was 'curated' by Pharrell Williams?

What dispiriting news.

The only good rap songs to have ever been written were a few hits of the 80s performed by the Beastie Boys, Andrew Lloyd Webber (Starlight Express), the Rock Steady Crew and the like.

Since then, all we have had is thuggish animal music whose advocates were particularly prevalent during the Ferguson riots.

Apple aligning itself with violent thugs, sadly, doesn't surprise me these days. Let us all look forward to a time when rap and hippo-hop music is wiped off the face of the earth forever; that will be a great day for humanity and the fight against evil.

$10 a month streaming will, of course, be a failure. But Apple knows that; it hardly wants to kill its golden goose, iTunes. It's just a sop to current trends, like the Apple Watch. Wearables will soon revert to dismal failure. The great thing is, however, that tech will get cheaper, and, in the light of such failure, will be a boon to us all.

TL;DR

Music so last decade? If you live isolated in a cave, maybe...

I swear some people in here are the most anti-social, deluded people ever.

I am glad Apple is finally debuting a streaming service, wonder ehat will they do to differentiate the regular music Store with the streaming service... Maybe Hi Res tracks?

Who the f*** are these 3 guys? DJs are no artists - they just put on music. This job is totally superfluous today. And please leave me alone with all the hiphop and rap junk.

I guess, Apple is recruiting a lot of experts in other types of music as well, pop, dance, rock, classic. This is quite serious and they are throwing billions already (Beats). I am sure they are seriously after original content. Only thing they can't do is write and perform the songs themselves, other that, they are doing everything possible. Same for TV too.

I guess then they will have a premium service just to get rid of David Guetta ?
I had considered switching to Apple solution. But I come from a curated service handled by people who really know music, I won't leave to listen to FM radio level cr*p curated by David Guetta and the like...

Why would they when they're not right now ? David Guetta is far from being an expert in electronic music, he's just a guy who happens to be married to a very good businesswoman... I love a lot of genres in electronic music and I certainly would not listen to a playlists curated by David Guetta...
The only way this could be positive is if David Guetta actually made huge playlists and if we had the option to build a playlist of all electronic music not picked by this guy...

People can like bad music. Just like Hitler had a massive following. Was he a good guy?

There are objective ways of looking at right or wrong, I believe.

Some argue that God provides us with a guideline, others that net suffering should be taken into account.

Music is, pretty much, noise that people like. If there's music you don't like but I do, is it good music or not?

I think it's pretty funny to see how people are defending these 'artists', while massively bashing Dr. Dre when Apple took over Beats. I remember quite a few comments on him being not an artist. At least Dre made many classics that are still popular today, and knows how to rap. I can't say the same about Drake or Pharrell. Apple could've at least found some inspiring, original artists.

Wow, nice forum update design. Still new to me but I could get used to it.

The new design is very "UI heavy", draws the eye away from the content and towards the excessive amount buttons and design elements. It's also weird that the "report" button is so much more prominent than the "reply" button. I keep hitting that by accident. Not sure I like it!

I wonder how long it will take this thread to land in PSRI.

I am not sure if Apple getting the artists mentioned will make for a better service. I suppose it would make some folks who lean towards Hip-Hop/Electronica to want to check out the service. Maybe MacRumors should run a poll to see what kind of music its readership likes to listen to.
