Sadly, that's apparently how some of these people think. They like to trot out that profit like it's something that impacts them. And isn't market share shrinking? Less product sold, less profit but some of these guys think market share means nothing.
[doublepost=1487453296][/doublepost]You mean like Hillary supporters are doing? Except, they are actually you know, assaulting people, destroying things but hey, let's trash Trump. You people are ridiculous.

Hello Donald, or surrogate. Glad you joined in. It did not take long.

An iPhone has WAY more "face" in China than a Xiaomi phone - most Chinese would love an iPhone, but it is priced too highly for them compared to Chinese smartphones.

No, I'm an end user who realises that a health Apple translates to a healthy ecosystem that has great software and hardware to choose from; a thriving iOS ecosystem benefits me which benefits Apple just as a thriving macOS ecosystem benefits me and Apple. Honestly, you'd sooner have the situation of Microsoft where they have 90% of the marketplace and their partners are about as excited about Windows future as one about the idea of contracting gonorrhoea?

Have you been shopping at Apple lately? They are slowly killing their ecosystem. Everytime they drop a product line, they weaken the entire ecosystem. As fewer and fewer products are available for the ecosystem, the easier it is to leave it.

What on earth are you on about. With that 'logic' I bet you still believe the earth is flat too. Ha ha joker

I would rather pay $650 USD for an iPhone than get a top end Huawei phone for free.

Since he can't seem to utter a word without lying, no, I'm not sure. I do know that the Secret Service wouldn't let Obama use Android for security reasons. I believe he was stuck with a modified Blackberry for quite a while, but at some point they relented and gave him an iPhone.

Trump may be allowed to use anything he likes if they consider him to be already compromised. They are holding back sensitive information from him, so there's little risk on that front.

I don't think there's any law that requires the President to use a specific phone. Trump has been using a Galaxy S3 and refused to use the modified iPhone that was given to him. Trump could at the very least use the latest Android phone, but he doesn't care about security.

Those china phone are so cheap, I could have buy a few of that for the price of 1 iPhone, obviously Apple can't beat those raw numbers. But per device revenue, iPhone is still one of the top.

Could get those china phone as burner-phone and throw away if damaged.

Price is a factor but function is big too. You can get a smart phone for $30 in the USA too

Totally. No need for secrecy with this numpty-elect.
Yeah, this is off topic, but I want to have something to point to later when it hits the fan:
I think the Russians own Trump, and the various secret agencies know it. At some point he'll do something so stupid and dangerous that the Republicans won't be able to ignore it. Then it's hello President Pence, or more likely: Ryan.

Actually, it's for those who can AFFORD the best smartphone. If you've got near-empty pockets then it's Android all the way. Anyone with a 'hunnert' bucks in their pockets can take home a run-of-the-mill Android clunker to browse and text with. There's nothing wrong with that. If you can't afford a Porsche, some lame Toyota can also get you around town, but just not in style.
It's more like comparing a Camry to a corolla. Lol at folks who act like an iPhone is a luxery product. It's mass produced in China that is often offered at less than full retail prices.

Like in the US the phone is generally too expensive, but people still continue to purchase them even year to year. The marketing here is captivating and the technology is awesome (in general). Either you need to find cheaper alternatives that still maintain the apple standard, or find a chinese marketing team that can capture the attention of its cellular consumers better than american apple ads. All advertising isn't universal, It works here, but no there. Also Apple was at the forefront in the US for smart phones... I think a late introduction into the chinese market makes apple appear pretentious and or ignorant to chinese consumer as they are the largest population... who knows... I'd suggest they fork over some heavy cash and work the celebrity angle in China, or figure out whats on trend since the phone is thoroughly designed.

Not all the China phones are cheap. There are higher-end phones that are full spec phones with all the features you want. The difference? They aren't selling them at 50% profit margin, and those companies don't maintain billions of dollars cash made off their high profit margins. Apple COULD beat those numbers if their phones weren't upwards of $1000 USD.
Look around and see what some of these Chinese companies are offering for a couple hundred bucks. Phones with features that you'll not find even in Apple phones. It's actually pretty amazing what you can get for a few hundred dollars.
Reminds me of phones like the OnePlus 3T (Chinese). Absolutely incredible. Camera aside it's nearly (if not, AS) as good as the phones you find in the premium space. Talking about value for your dollar? THAT.

Just switched from Apple iPhone to phone with Lower SAR radiation. And for business there are 2 tings important, My contacts and Calendar. Do not use iCloud for obvious reasons. Since iPhone does no longer sync Contacts nor iCal with my Apple-powerbook Retina offline using USB connection, need to buy iPhone for sync became void.

I can easily afford an iPhone, but I choose not to buy one. There's just no way I would get an iOS device as a daily driver.

Speaking of your car comparison, I attach a riddle for you - from my cars (yes, I'm rather fortunate). Hope you'll be all right.

I don't think the iPhone will disappear, the Mac didn't disappear as Windows started to grow, but there continues to be decent Android phones coming out that are an amazing value (look at NUU Mobile for one of many examples). You can get very decent 4.5 to 5.5 inch smart phones, with dual SIMS, removable memory, decent graphics/CPU running Android for around $100.

Don't get me wrong, I love my iPhone because I love IOS and its eco system, but on a worldwide basis, I think it's going to be harder for many consumers to justify a $700 to $1,000 iPhone when they have decent Android options in about the $100 range.

China is a perfect example of this. The market in China dwarfs the United States and the competition targeting Apple in China will only become more aggressive offering better and better value running Android.

First, let me say I don't really care what brand of phone the president uses... or anyone for that matter. This quote is specifically about your inaccurate post. It's completely wrong. It's like you really didn't even try to reach for a fact. Obama wasn't "stuck" with a Blackberry, it was his. Yes, it was subsequently modified, but the phone was his personal choice. No, they didn't give him an iPhone (not sure where you got that). He was given a HEAVILY modified Android phone. Most likely the Samsung Galaxy S4. Ars Technica had a pretty good article on it.

Pertinent section: "The S4 is currently the only device supported under DISA's DOD Mobility Classified Capability-Secret (DMCC-S) program. In 2014, a number of Samsung devices were the first to win approval from the National Security Agency under its National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP) Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC) program—largely because of Samsung's KNOX security technology. And the S4, layered with services managed by DISA, is the first commercial phone to get approval to connect to the Secret classified DOD SIPRNet."

Here's Obama talking about the phone with Jimmy Fallon.

Trump probably has been issued the same hardened S4, but rumor has it, he held onto his old S3 Twitter phone.

You are entitled to your personal beliefs. But it's just that: A personal belief. The iPhone with its crippled OS is the last phone that I would buy. Huawei and several other companies offer a much better value. And after all, smartphones are just consumer products with an extremely short lifecycle.
While his statement was non-sense at best, "crippled OS" is definitely a hyperbole.

This isn't comparing iPad to a Surface Pro. In terms of phones vs phones; unless you using specific Android features that I'm willing to bet real money 99% of the smartphone users aren't using anyway then there isn't anything crippled about iOS for smartphone purposes.

With that said, nowadays it's starting to become a hard sell to spend almost $900 for an iPhone with decent storage. I was really surprised they upped the price on the plus model for the 7.

My reply had nothing to do with Trump or politics. You stated he couldn't use Android because it can't be secured. He is using Android.

How many times we have to have this kind of post? Apple and Xiaomi are not targeting the same customers.
Should Mercedes be worried that Toyota Yaris is selling more?

Who should be worried are the Samsung, HTC, LG, etc. Xiaomi is eating their lunches as they offer the same hardware (Android, snapdragon/MTK chipset,p) for less.

Doesn't the president of the US have an Android phone?
Yes, and every secret service in the world has access to it :)

Donald J. Trump‏ @realDonaldTrump
I use both iPhone & Samsung. If Apple doesn't give info to authorities on the terrorists I'll only be using Samsung until they give info.

That's one customer lost, millions of customers gained.

I would say iPhone would be considered a premium product, kind of similar to an entry level Lexus or BMW 328, that kind of level, but it's not an exotic or luxury product.
