When Apple or any company lets you down, it's time to move along.

Good luck finding something that works for you, OP. Don't worry, you won't be alone after all those people load up iOS6 and see how terrible an update it really is.

Maybe we can write a petition to Apple and let them know of the things that really matter to us when it comes to things involving the iPhone.

Having used iOS 6 map's to do turn by turn navigation (even in Beta) from Manchester, UK to Germany (Heidelberg) I can state that Apple's maps are infinitely better than Google's, very accurate and fast + you get Turn by Turn :)

I usually download new versions of apps within a couple of days of them appearing (that red notification indicator is so annoying :p).

Will try a full discharge recharge and see what happens.

This is quite as good as it gets. Fully discharge and recharge the iPhone at least once a month. Only charge the iPhone when it's below 10% and make sure you charge it fullt to a 100%. Also, don't overcharge it.

Loyalty definitely isn't what it used to be...

Do you understand the word Loyalty ?

This has nothing to do with loyalty - they have a$$ fåkd their customers with this update BIG TIME. Same with Mountain Lion.

Money for NOTHING.

They are starting to rest on their success so it will so go downwards fast. They dont invent new stuff - just keep releasing the same over and over again. It's was GOOD in 2007 - got better and shortly best with iphone 4

But since then ??? The mac's are the same - just a new story to old hardware.

iPad ? Well okay... This is still in the top. But with iOS 6 - no youtube viewer anymore????? Thats just plain STUPID.

iPhone? Look at it... What happen since 3GS ??? Faster Hardware and better camaras. But else... Some small software things that only works in some countries.

If you mess with your buyers... They will tell you the first time to straigthen up.

Second time sales go down...

3. time - you're out... Think Apple will from now on go downwards. PEOPLE cant be so stupid to continue to buy new stuff thats actually OLD STUFF.

Nothing really new since 2009... I dont like Android - but slowly iOS is really really getting behind Android.

And I am a Apple Fanboy. Have everything... So Im one of the stupid ones. But not anymore. Bought 2 iPads this week... Should have bought Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 - so much more for the money. Better OS ... It even takes something a SD card :-O Ever heard of them Apple ? Wooooowwww futuristic.

I don't believe in loyalty as a customer, A customer should go where they get the best deal for them so therefor if that isn't Apple then so be it.

The thing is though why tell everyone?, no one here is going to cry if you go to Android, RIM, or even Windows.

This is what I miss on Apple Maps the most. I dont have a car and dont really care about turn by turn navigation

The new maps don't seem too bad althought it has renamed my adopted hometown to Duncaster instead of Doncaster! My location is more accurate by about a house. I noticed something missing then realised it was the youtube app. This prompted me to try and acess it through the Chrome app and it worked o.k. Also I found I could reply to comments which was a bug bear with the old app. I think it's good that Apple are ridding themselves of being too reliant on Google. Can't see anything coming along to challenge the massive supremac of youtube though. If Google somehow end up preventing that from being accessed by Apple devices then things will really get nasty although there's enough Apple devices out there for a rival video sharing site to be o.k but it's never going to catch up with youtube. A/w Apple haven't lost this loyal customer today.

How??

But since then ??? The mac's are the same - just a new story to old hardware.

So what do you think is so 'old' about the Retina display and new gen intel core processors? Please point to another manufacturer doing something so different?

iPad ? Well okay... This is still in the top. But with iOS 6 - no youtube viewer anymore????? Thats just plain STUPID.

You do understand, right? that Google's license with Apple to license Youtube expired, you can go and download an app to do this, right now... what's your problem?? Not everyone uses Youtube and the old app was pants. Let google develop it...

iPhone? Look at it... What happen since 3GS ??? Faster Hardware and better camaras. But else... Some small software things that only works in some countries.

Name another manufacturer doing something drastically different? Galaxy S2 -> S3, bigger screen, faster cpu and better camera... right??? JESUS!

If you mess with your buyers... They will tell you the first time to straigthen up.

Second time sales go down...

Think you'll find, pal, iPhone 5's have outstripped the 4S on pre-orders.

3. time - you're out... Think Apple will from now on go downwards. PEOPLE cant be so stupid to continue to buy new stuff thats actually OLD STUFF.

Nothing really new since 2009... I dont like Android - but slowly iOS is really really getting behind Android.

So google announce Project Butter that amazingly changes their OS from the crapfest of lagginess it was (on most hardware) to a smooth experience... wooooow!

Should have bought Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 - so much more for the money. Better OS ... It even takes something a SD card :-O Ever heard of them Apple ? Wooooowwww futuristic.

HAHAHA go buy a Samsung then, take back the iPad's they are within the 14 day re-stock window...... You do know that other manufacturers don't have SD Card slots... right? the average consumer probably still has the original SD Card in their phones that came with them...

I found it already strange that another app opened when watching a Youtube video. Neihter want the browser my PC to open some extra software for that.

Are you talking to me? Because Pimlical (the offshoot of the Palm OS product Datebk6) is available on Android, and it is a calendar product that is about as far ahead of iCal as the original iPhone was ahead of a Motorola StarTac.

Your argument is a 3rd party application? If that's the case I can be fairly certain there are loads of apps on the App Store that would blow it out of the water.

HOW COME THESE TYPES OF THREADS DON'T PLAY THE TINY VIOLIN WHEN I OPEN THEM??

OP, go, run fast. This ship is sinking for sure.

Have you tried Apple maps? I was looking forward to a sidestep from Google to Apple, I got the Windows ME equivalent of Maps software.... This thing is not even ready for system testing, let alone live release.

So the completely and utterly useless google map's that was on the iPhone before is better than the new Maps? I am expecting Apple to be releasing some serious updates for it over the coming months but in the mean time... it's brilliant turn by turn is awesome and works flawlessly over different countries in which I frequently drive :)

Infinitely? I guess you stayed to major highways, this is something TomTom does well.

Go off the main road or smaller towns and give it a go.

Google maps being utterly useless?

Were you using Google maps as a Car nav? And hence finding tomtom's version to be so much better?

Mix of Major motorways, autoroutes and autobahns and also village/town roads, not had any problem with any wrong directions.

Car nav and walking nav and yeah TomTom was vastly superior to Google's in this case.

Google, hands down, has the better street view and satellite imagery and also business lookup, but this is stuff Apple and improve upon without pushing out OS updates so I expect them to be updating all of this over time.

Edit: Not used Google Maps on Android, only going off the iPhone version.

This is not even a reason I'd ditch the iPhone.

Actually, there aren't. I've been looking for a decent calendar alternative that syncs with iCal (in the case of Pimlical on Android, I accept sync with Google Calendar instead) and has flexibility and features on par with Datebk/Pimlical. Things like floating events, configurable views, task and contact integration actually make a huge difference to me, and the pickings on iOS are very slim.

One customer is very unlikely to impact their profit margin much. In fact it won't impact it at all, which you would be fully aware of if you knew what a profit margin was.

But I digress. You've made the asinine and sadly go-to point of many on this forum, which is to say 'screw you, the company I like is making lots of money, from people like me, so they're right and unless you're going to join the circle-jerk, your opinion is worthless'

But there are a lot of people who don't understand why they should buy an iPhone 5, or what they gain out of upgrading iOS6, and apathy towards a product, especially one commanding the sort of premium that iPhone does will impact on Apple. Whether that's now, or maybe the next time the sheep that just bought a new iPhone on the upgrade cycle feel like they got their fingers burned, it may well happen.

It doesn't matter to me what someone else does with their money, nor do I care what phone they use.

The reason I chose an iPhone was the ease of use. There are no features I wish I had, no buyers remorse.

I've been with Apple since the late 80's starting out with a II C+ - it worked and I loved it.

Fast forward to now - I'm using a rMBP and couldn't be happier - I actually love that machine - does everything 'I' need it to do.

Been using a 3GS since it came out, not one problem. I can navigate around iOS like it was an empty room. Why change it?

I honestly can't imagine not having an iPad now... Before, I thought it was silly to have both an iPhone and iPad, but when I started to use it, things sank in. It adapted to my lifestyle.

I don't care for profits, net worth, sales figures or whatever. I use Apple products because they work for me.

I'm not one of those people who has to have the latest and greatest... I updated my iBook G4 to the rMBP - so I get my money's worth.

No Windows devices in this house - I actually HATE Windows.

But this is 'my' story.

Peace Out!!!!! "you'll be back, you'll be back!!" (In my blind preacher voice from They Live starring Rowdy Piper) lol!!

What really gets me is the way people complain about design changes. For example: "The dialer should've been left alone! It was fine!!!"
They are usually the same people that said a week ago, "iOS hasn't changed since 2007! Why can't they change it up a little??!"

Most of you people just want to complain. Go buy a goldfish for cryin' out loud.

I don't think it's fair to call ios6 a disaster or anything. I mean, is it a bit "meh" compared to past updates? Sure. Could it have been better? Of course. Do we expect more from Apple? Definitely. But it's an update nonetheless. Not exactly "over 200 features" like they like to claim (most of the changes aren't even noticeable), but it's better than no update at all.

Passbook is still in its infancy. Maps is as well. I expect more updates and whatnot over the next few months. Not even Google Maps was as good as it is now when it first released.

In an ideal world, it would have been better for Apple to release a maps app and kept Google maps until their own app was good enough to be integrated, or even kept Google for another year, but they did what they had to. From what I heard, they weren't allowed to add things like Turn by turn while using Google's maps and the license had expired. I don't know the background dealings, but releasing their own maps was the best thing for apple to do at the moment.

Let's not forget that their lead innovator is also no longer with us. iOS 6 is the first update to be released without Steve around, so its going to be noticeably different. They have to regain their footing, but I'm sure they'll get there.

If you have to leave for another device, then so be it. Do what's best for you. It's your money. It's expected for you to spend it where you'll get the most use out of it.

I have been playing around with iOS 6 and I am hugely disappointed.

Apple Maps - it's so bad, it's so bad.

Contacts - too cluttered. You have fields for Facebook profiles, Facebook chat, Facebook e-mail address, Facebook profile link, regular e-mail address.. There is also buttons for added accounts. "Name in iCloud" "Name in Facebook". Just if you forgot where where you added the contact?!

Colored status bar - sometimes black, sometimes colored. Ugh??!

Dial buttons - if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

= how did they end up here when they tossed ideas around? Did they scrapped the idea of a wifi-bluetooth toogle for a colored status bar? It is obvious that they focused too hard on Facebook intergration. Was the new map solution included in the last second? Just not ready for prime time.

Siri vs Google voice search = Google dominates.

Apple Maps vs Google Maps = Apple isn't even in the game.

Hardware design = Users love curved backs on mobiles. The iphone 4, 4S just feelt odd. I stuck with iPhone because of the software. I thought I would never say this but I will sell my iPhone 4S and get a Galaxy Nexus. I will miss the camera but Google is just better in search and mapping.

BLah blah blah

Trust me, if you are dead set on ditching the iPhone, get the S III, not the Nexus. I have a Nexus (plus an iPhone 3gs, 4, and 5 on order). The Nexus just cannot compete with the iPhone. Battery life is horrible, speaker sucks, cell reception is worse than my iPhone 4 (!), and the camera is awful.
