The 11 Pro had a USB-C charger and cable. And people do have piles of USB-A chargers and USB-A Lightning cables.

Understood on the 11 Pro. But 1 year of offering it hardly makes a difference. Every other model has always had usb a.

Apple: “everyone has tons of iPhone charging bricks from old iPhones (unfortunately none of them will
work with your supplied iPhone 12 cable.)”

Typical complaining to be complaining. I’m tired of collecting cables and adapters. Good riddance.
Or there's some point to it in various cases. Plenty of people don't have a USB-C charger even if they might have some USB-A ones.

Lol why? The price of storage does down EVERY YEAR.

And 12 Pro Max's sensor shift module costs the same to produce as 12 Pro's OIS module so therefore no price increase is warranted? No. 12 Pro Max's camera system costs MORE than 12 Pro's camera module, but both devices cost the same as last year.

You're arguing for price change parity in the storage tiers but not when it comes to camera tiers.

You're not following your own logic here.

Oh, how much do those sensors cost Apple?

You collect them? You could donate them to people who actually need them and stop acting like it was a problem that Apple included something in the box that was functional for your device.

Seriously, I don't understand you fanboys defending Apple. If it's just for enviromental benefits and not GREED, then why don't Apple give the power adapter to anyone that buy the new iphone and requested one free instead of selling it for $19 ??????

I have many chargers from past devices so this makes sense for me but wish the price was reduced to match as well. Maybe I can trade a few of the old chargers for a high powered usb-c charger.

So you know how apple could have saved face on this? they could have said if you buy a device and still want either of these items every serial number can go to this website and "claim" a charge brick and EarPods.... then they give the customer what they want and still potentially reduce waist and save some money, I myself would not order them as I have AirPods and I have USB ports in all my outlets in my house.

NO ONE will have an answer for that question. I’ve asked it 10 times and its greeted with a change the subject or silence.

At least tens of millions of dollars for R&D alone (prototypes, software, testing). Not even including bill of materials for sensorshift, new camera lens, new sensor, and combined with lower economies of scale.

I dont mind them not being included in the box, but I hope they keep them around for a long time. They are by far my favorite pair of wired, low-cost headphones. No matter what expensive pair of headphones I have, I always keep my EarPods on hand and use them frequently.

Right, you have no idea what it cost Apple. Thanks though.

Come again? I see a nice big increase from 2017 to 2018. And 2020 is more expensive than 2019.

Talking about knowing how much things costs...you have no idea wtf you're talking about.

The right thing to do is let the consumer choose when you buy the phone by offering the items free at purchase. People who don't need them or want them can decline the additional accessories while people who do want them can accept them. I can't imagine spending $800 for an incomplete product. Can you imagine buying a new car but without tires because they want you to use the tires from your old car or buy new tires?

More choices means more expensive. This is one of the reasons why companies like Tesla limit consumer choice of car customization to the bare minimum when they launched a new car: what car model you want, what color, and what wheels you want. More customization means more expensive products. If you like, Apple would be happy to charge you more to give you that option.

People just need to stop defending this and realize what this is. Its way for Apple to make more money off of the consumer. Thinking anything other than this is just pure blind fanboyism.

I love Apple products, but this is as greedy as it gets and its honestly pretty low.

Why do you let mice nuts like that get you so worked up?

You're missing the point. Margins don't stay consistent every year for every model/tier.
And yet after so many years of new iPhones and materials and increases in storage and more cameras accessories weren't being removed to make up for it. That aspect of it just doesn't hold up even with a spin on it.

Dude what are you talking about. It costs Apple less and less every year. Its basic business principals.

Am I the only person on the planet who has more than a few USB A power adapters AND USB A Lighting cables lying around?
Plenty do as well, while plenty don't too. At the same time those won't change the new phones as well. They are also unrelated and inconsistent with having a new cable but no charger. Not paying less but getting less for it than before.

In before iPhone 2025 ships without a screen and a monthly sub is required to lease it, *reserved*
