I think they forgot that about 99% of those "2 billion Apple power adapters in the world" are USB-A, which won't work with the new Lightning to USB-C cord shipping with all new iPhones... smh
To address your complaint, they had an emergency meeting at Apple HQ. The outcome of the meeting was that they will make sure to skip the cord as well next time! :D

So if they give you the $19 for the missing EarPods, are you going to give them the extra $100ish for the 5G radio and antennas?
Previous iPhone models have had improvements every year, with 4G/LTE being added, better WiFi, more cameras, etc. and somehow accessories weren't removed to make up for that all those years.

Why would it cost more? Do you think every year that Apple improves their phone they should increase the price? We’d all be paying $5000 before long with your logic. They are supposed to improve the phone each year and are already charging a massive premium for their phones.

There’s Some hyperbole mixed in your post. Apple has always charged ‘premiums’ for their products, not just their iPhones. But let’s look at the flip-side, they expanded their iPhone lineup by offering an entry-level iPhone SE 2 at an affordable price and lowered the price of the iPhone 11 by $50. As much is you can point the finger that they’re charging XYZ for this Or that, they’ve proven they can offer phones lole the SE at a lower Price and even reduced the price of one of their models.

Next time don’t throw away the box that comes with the mobile, May Apple generously offer that for $49 by reducing $10 ....

Honestly, what they should have done is include a voucher in the purchase of the phone for either a free earbud or charger. Thats how you really reduce e-Waste for unnecessary accessories without making it a money grab on high margin accessories. Let people who need it pick it up, those who don't, don't.

In before iPhone 2025 ships without a screen and a monthly sub is required to lease it, *reserved*
That's still not safe for the environment.
By 2025, you pay Apple $999 for the thought of buying a new phone. To save the environment, Apple encourages you to just use your old phone. Imagine how many carbons saved for Apple not having to make nor ship anything to you. Thanks to you, Apple is on track to be carbon neutral. $999 well spent!

/s

Now only making 1000% margin rather than 1900%
Actually, they probably will make more margins in the end as they already added $30 for the non-Verizon/AT&T iPhones. So those price drops are already counted in elsewhere, with an extra $10.

And remember that they also removed the earpods and charger on all models, including the SE, without reducing the price. Talk about sleek move to nickel and dime your own customers.

$9 at the best and worst the price in other country where it multiples by Sales tax and import tax.

late to the party, are we missing TOUCH ID completely in iPhone 12? (unlike iPad Air 4th generation)???

Have not seen Macrumors article about the missing touch id yet ...

They could have doubled to 128GB and increased the price slightly, but they didn't.

There are many reasons and strategies for how Apple price their products. The Pro and Pro Max cost the same as last year, but yet Pro Max has better camera features than the Pro (last year they were the same). Shouldn't the Pro Max cost more this year then? Nope. Expecting one strategy to be applied to all iPhones doesn't make sense.
One reason, one strategy: to increase shareholder value. Economies of scale would factor in here, yet Apple increases their prices. They certainly don't pass those savings down to us.

In 6 years, I’ve used 5 iPhones. I used one of the included earpods and three of the charging bricks. These just end up in the garbage. Better not to include them.
So you like to pay more for less? I'm having a hard time grappling with this.

And yet after so many years of new iPhones and materials and increases in storage and more cameras accessories weren't being removed to make up for it. That aspect of it just doesn't hold up even with a spin on it.

For one, price of flash storage increased between 2017-2018. So it's not like materials are always getting cheaper.

And even if that somehow applies to what Apple procures (which is fairly different a lot of the time) that still doesn't change how iPhones have been getting better and better and storage has been increasing a number of times before (even when some prices fluctuated here or there) without that somehow needing to be offset by removing accessories.

I'm talking about many strategies for Apple to make a business which essentially increases shareholder value considering they're a publicy traded company. There are many ways of going about that.

That's not really what I'm disputing.

They had the "COURAGE" to remove the 3.5 mm audio jack. But when would they have the "COURAGE" to put USB C connector on iPhones? Wouldn't be more convenient and ENVIRONMENT-FRIENDLY for all these years if I could use the same adapter and the same cable for my iPhone, iPad, and Macbook? Corporate greed at the highest level!

But it was announced from the top of a solar roof so I think they REALLY want to be environment friendly. /s

Dude what are you talking about. It costs Apple less and less every year. Its basic business principals.

Wrong again.

Sources in the know tell us that the increase in price for the high-capacity iPad Pro models is due to a dramatic increase in the cost of NAND flash storage.

Again, you don't know wtf you're talking about. You simply don't want to admit wrong so there's no point in this conversation anymore. Have a good one.

I think losing the headphones is absolutely fine and shouldn't be expected to come with a phone. The loss of the power brick will annoy some this year, especially if they've only got old Lightning power adapters.

But come next year, no one will care anymore. It's the right decision from a business and environmental standpoint, and ultimately, with less and less people using the included EarPods in favour of their own offerings, and more and more people using Qi charging, it makes sense. And with USB-C becoming more ubiquitous by the day, people will have chargers galore across various devices.

Is this packing only for US. I saw some article that EU has some laws that companies cannot sell without proper accessories. In India this will surely drive people away. The Pro Max costs more than a kidney.

Man... this is so true. I still wonder what Steve Jobs would think of the dongle nightmare that is the current state of MacBooks.

Apple has now lowered the price of its EarPods with a Lightning connector from $29 to $19. Apple's new 20W power adapter for iPhones also retails for $19, down from $29 for its now-discontinued 18W power adapter
If people are interested in both accessories then they should think of it as a $38 price increase across all models. I believe they should be offering the USB-C power adapter at checkout upon request—$0—but even so it is not a deal breaker for less than twenty, or even forty, dollars.
