Apple MacBooks This Month? Not Tomorrow?

You win some, you lose some

Alright folks, time to fess up. Some users have been kind enough to realize that rumor sites are not infalible, nor do they have magical gifts of forsight (though most of us have strange tingling feelings in our left knee that we consider magical). However others have been harsher and blasted us for not getting this one right.

With it being 10am EST and still no Apple Store refresh, I think it's safe to say that the MacBook is indeed not slated to come today. We predicted wrongly based on the submissions and reports we got (also, remember that the story was originally a page2 story before Apple's website had the MacBook thing on it). In the rumor business, you win some and you lose some.

Rumors tend to be a mix of puzzle pieces thrown together, and you are trying to just make one of those puzzles. So, you have to pick out just the right puzzle pieces and then fit them together in the right way. Many times, you may only get part of the picture. That being said, if the puzzle that you are building is of the most beautiful portrait ever made, isn't it still worth getting an early look at?

That's why we're in this business, and why we love it. Thanks for all of your continuing support, and stay tuned for any other updates that may come as we get them.

p.s. Please never take anything as 100% "We're positive this will happen". While we may feel more confident about certain stories over others, we don't have that magical forsight power, so NOTHING can be 100%.

How many of the recent Apple announcements happened on Tuesdays vs. Wednesdays? To my knowledge, a significant amount of recent announcements have been on Wednesday, so I don't think tomorrow can be ruled out.

I know apple store employees apparently know nothing,,,but I was told and said it before. we'll be Lucky to see this MacBook in May or June...It's gona be a while...I'm sitcking with that and I tried to leave the rumor sites before..but this is it..Not than anyone really give's a Sht, but See Ya....and these sites should change there names....

I get it, you dont think its going to happen today. Thanks for your input. For someone who really hopes the MacBook appears tuesday, you seem awfully intent on spreading your own... er... rumour that it wont be. Truth is, nobody knows, thats why we are reading the rumour sites. Do we really have to read the same comments from you on EVERY! page spread across 2 forum threads over 3 or 4 days?? We get it, you dont think they are coming today. Please, do like you say and just come back once it's released, perhaps the excitement of the impending release has given you "Annoying post fever".

Yeah. Positive because the story is from a good source, rather than the content of the story being positive. It's unclear, and unnecessary.

As for MacBooks - I'm glad I bought my iBook 12" last year - got a good run with it being the top end model - over 280 days!

as we've seen here, the macbooks did not arrive. Every Mac website in the world said they would. I was so excited.

If so, it's gained some slight credibility from the fact that you couldn't pull off that simple edit without missing that detail.

It was just a silly post, but some found it entertaining. Didn't mean it to be a revelation. Nor did I mean to suggest others didn't realize the 'iffiness' (to put it mildly) of such information. However, having some self-important person feeling 'smarter' because he/she had known about it before or rather indirectly calling me stupid, is just plain sad and offensive. If your smartness depends on what rumours you know, you're probably a lost cause anyway. But you're right, it's actually no big deal. Case closed. Pueri sunt, puerilia tractant...

P.S. I don't think there's something like an 'overly active imagination'. You know what I refer to. That wasn't imagined. All else is, of course, in the eye of the beholder. Not everything is quantity. It's about the quality.
