The Apple store does not tend to go down until 6:00 GMT so by my calculations, it is still more than 3 hours away.

I feel exactly the same way....... The days are getting very long, I am so close to buying something else. And the MBP is ruled out due to the size. One more week, then I will start scanning the Laptop PC market....... Please Apple do not force me to do that!!!!

strange to read this: obviously you're waiting desparately for a Mac to become available, which is OK; but then, if the wait is a bit long, start scanning the PC market (!?)...
duh..
have you ever actually tried to work with a PC laptop?
well, I have, and I would rather wait a full year, than ever revert to a PC.

So stick it out for a few more days, or weeks. You'll be rewarded for your patience, I'm sure.

if it was real we would be looking at the real one on apple's site right now

fake

yeah coz i dont remember seeing that all the while i've been refreshing apple's store for over hrs now...but wasnt looking that way though...but gotta be fake coz how come we never heard abt the macbook plus?

I'm expect that's a fake. But MacBook Plus? That could make sense as the higher spec MacBook that replaces the 12" PowerBook. And is my dream computer. :)

The real beauty of a closed proprietary system: you can release things completely late, over price it when it does come, anger your customers, and they have no choice but to come back. I was hoping the Intel move would make Apple a little more punctual. Yeah right.

I know - but when you really need a portable laptop, the power book and iBook are a bit old (though I would definately prefer the Apple solution). The reality is that no one really knows when the MacBook (or 12” MPB is due, if ever). I mean if I knew I could get a Macbook in 4 weeks I could probably wait. But it might be 8 or 12 weeks (or more) and then in 4 weeks time I have to find a solution and have been without a laptop in the meantime.

if the new ibooks dont come out today, i'm just going to get a pb. i sold my old g3 ice book and bought a new 14'' ibook, but returned it because i heard the new ibooks were coming soon. i cant go much longer without a mac. i use ilife too much. or should i go cheap and buy a dell thing

for the love of god. Don't buy a PC. i've hassled with this infernal machine for 12 years, and its like a bad relationship. I know i was born a mac person, ergo why i'm so adamant about the release of the macbook. its the light at the end of a smelly, dark, rat-infested tunnel. don't buy a dell, hp, toshiba, gateway or any other windows-native machine. Its just not worth it anymore.
