I'll believe it when I see it in print from Apple. He actually got you off of the phone with you receiving nothing for free. He probably got a bonus.

If I was an apple employee who had to listen to a million people a day complain about connectivity, I'd make up something (not saying this is fake), but I would.

I'd have a little fun with my job and just be like "Oh yeah free stuff mang!"

The bumpers should be free anyway. It's just a piece of ****** plastic that goes around the phone. They should have just put them in our iPhone boxes. I doubt anyone would of bought one if Apple name wasn't tied to it.

If you bought a bumper, go get the new one and then sell it for $20-$25 on CL. I bought a bumper but didn't open it. I bought it to see if I had reception problems but I don't, and so I'm taking it back to the Apple store and buying another charging cable instead.

how many have actually heard this from an apple rep? so far...this is the first.
one doesnt make it credible enough. maybe 10 or more. in spread out cities.

ill believe it if at least several people from different cities confirm what the op said. :p

If this is true, I wonder how long it will take for the first thread to be made complaining about how they can't get a free Bumper in the color they want.

Wouldn't this be front page (MR and major media outlets) news if it was true?

No because it isn't tomorrow, and the OP said that Apple would tell people tomorrow. Also, you can a lot of other people have the misconstrued thought that every iPhone user uses this forum.

I was just on the line with an apple rep and he said apple will be making an official statement tomorrow as they are a big corporation and all and will not sit back and watch the whole issue with reception. He claims that apple will be giving out a free bumper for iPhone 4 users. He was going to ship me one but he said it doesn't make sense to ship it if they will likely give them out tomorrow or on Tuesday. Just thought I would let you guys know, and I am not lying about what he said to me as I would have nothing to gain by doing so. I was told this, I just hope it's in fact true.

Edit: I just thought I might add that they also said a software fix was indeed being worked on but this is also to better the reception.

Edit 2: I forgot to mention that he said they received an email to all the employees that this must be done. Also, he said the engineers are working on getting the software fix out really soon. I want this to be true but deep down I feel like it's too good to be true. This was the supervisor I talked to by the way.

the superviors i talked to say the same things, except for the free bumper and say bumper wont help with the problem.

called apple. the rep stated they know of the issue and fix is comming and also mentioned a possible recall or free bumpers to everyone with problems. of course he couldnt release a date of when the fix will come or when the free bumpers will come?

im going out of town this friday and plan on stopping by an apple store to BUY a bumper. hopefully by then they'll have free ones.

Just confirmed OP's story. Don't know how the logistics will be handled because bumpers are out of stock everywhere.

We should go ahead and make it imo.

lol I hope this is all true. I mean he knew exactly what the problem with the antenna was in great detail, he mentioned something about the hand being a conductor and that because of this it disrupts the circuit in the antenna causing the poor reception. Really seemed knowledgeable and understanding to be honest

Like I said earlier I'm sure that some of what these people on the line are saying is true, but if it was me on the phone I'd say anything, lol.
