CONFIRMED!

My cousin's best friend's mother's Labrador retriever called the Apple store in Poughkeepsie and the manager's sister's third grade English teacher said Job's is going to give everyone a complimentary hand job.

once again another loser posting BS

I didn't post BS, I posted what the apple supervisor rep told me. Accuse me whatever you guys want, but I was not lying. I even said in the original post I hope this is true, I wasn't yelling "CONFIRMED, CONFIRMED, CONFIRMED" as I was just speaking what I was told.

Nevertheless, title is a bit misleading.

can not agree more. i guess we missed that "big announcement and the update!

one would think people would have better things to do with their time than posting this kind of rhetoric and speculation. If we had Mods who paid attention these threads would be deleted to spare us from this.

Considering this is what a rep told me friday...must be possibly true.

Though I still think it's rather silly to fix it this way. Will the iphone 5 be sold with a bumper on it...to appear magical and all new?

No real good PR way to address this. No matter what, they'll be made chastised for not properly testing a new product.

Wonder if they'll just give one away at all the ATT stores tomorrow?

I was one of the people with the antenna problem who is getting a free bumper. I have an order number, but I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't shipped until after iso 4.01 is released. It could ship this week or at the latest next Tuesday. I wish there were some cases available in any store in my area, even Best Buy.

Isn't this a rumor site?

For those getting on the op - isn't this a rumor site? He posted a rumor he heard. Who said it had to be true?

If this turns out to be true I hope I get refunded for the two I currently have. One is definitely going back, though.

Edit: just noticed that there's a 10% restocking fee if opened. Thanks Apple. Guess I know which one I'll be taking back.

Still waiting on the Official Announcement that has been CONFIRMED.

Me too. You know, I can confirm that there is no reception issue. You are all just holding it the wrong way.

Stay Tuned. Apple will be offering classes in all retail locations to show you guys how to hold the magical iPhone 4.

The approved technique is to hold your pinky out while you use your iPhone. This will not only improve reception but identify you as a cultured refined communicator.

I don't know how or when this is going to be "confirmed" by apple, but no bumper cases coming my way...

I pushed pretty hard for one, spoke with 3 different senior tech people and they all said that 'apple is working on it, bumpers aren't a guarantee to work'.

I'd love a bumper, but i'd rather have a working phone. If i had a choice between a recall (new phone) or a bumper as a band aid, i'll take a new phone.

btw - i was on the phone with one of the tech guys, and he was trying to tell me how i just need to hold my phone in my right hand, and had a little attitude telling me how thats why there are headphones in the box. So, i asked him to take out his phone (he did) and then type an email or text without touching the left corner. He paused for a moment, and then said, i'll see if i can get you a bumper. He came back and said no luck, apple is still working on trying to fix the problem with a software update...

so for those who got a free bumper, good for you, i'm jealous, but would settle for a working phone.

Apple will put out a patch that raises the bars in these quirky situations and all those people who over-reacted in the first place will soon be singing apple's praises for their magic patch.

Yet the phone will work exactly as it did before.

Actually it's really easy to type an email or text without touching the left corner.

It's not an over-reaction when you get dropped calls. Sitting at my desk at work I can make a call fail every time by holding the phone in my left hand (which covers the bottom left corner). The calls start out with 4 to 5 bars and drop one-by-one until I get "call failed" on my screen. It takes about 15 seconds. I have demonstrated this failure to so many employees at my office that the iPhone 4 has become an office joke. I've had employees lend me their iPhone 3G and 3GS to do this test side-by-side with my iPhone 4 and their phones never drop the call, my iPhone 4 drops it every time. Now you might say that my office is in an AT&T dead spot, well with the iPhone 4 sitting on my desk without being touched I get 4 to 5 bars of 3G signal strength and previous model iPhones don't drop calls.

So even if Apple releases a software update that dumbs down the refresh of the signal strength how is that going to stop calls from getting dropped?

People need to realize this isn't just a signal display problem.

Stop putting your hand there when calling.

At what point in time do you think that will sink in?

That's OK as a temporary workaround, but it is not a fix. I'm disappointed by how many Apple fans consider "hold it differently" to be the solution. :(

I agree for the most part. The part that gets me is that if people are unhappy, take it back until they release a product your happy with. We aren't obligated to keep our phones and a sire fire way to get a business to listen is through action. A "self imposed recall?" :)
