I am in Hawaii and that's the right time GMT -10

That may be the right time, but that is not how Windows XP displays time -- nor is that a font Windows uses ... plus, you didn't didn't match the color of the background very well.

So, I'm with the other guy -- this is more than a little fishy.

According to what a friend who doesn't work for apple told me, the iPhone has the ability to activate more towers to get stronger signal, however if you short circuit the antennas, the software becomes confused. Its a software fix, might be announced tomorrow. Something this big, such has a hardware issue, i doubt would have made it past apple testing.

Great post

People that are probably paying $30/month for their data plan are whining about not getting a free bumper. Toss in the troll posts from the 'expert' who says it's a hardware problem and Apple is going to recall all the phone and you have a typical MR thread.

Not quite. This thread was missing a whiner who displays poor grammatical skills. Thanks for sorting that out for us.

How many threads do we have now about Apple's action regarding this problem? Let me see if I can recall all of them:

1. CONFIRMED: $200 gift cards
2. CONFIRMED: Recall of affected units
3. CONFIRMED: $175 gift card + bumper
4. CONFIRMED: Gift Cards + Free Bumper
5. CONFIRMED: Free Bumper
6. CONFIRMED: Free back massages to all buyers

You forgot the free ponies.

lol. so 75% of people who are complaining will be satisfied and keep phone after getting a 10 cent piece of plastic. Good trade for Apple. They give you 10 cents, you give them/AT&T $700.

Probably 10% of complainers have the sack to actually return the phone. Or the problem isnt as big as they are making it out to be on these boards.

Thereby making it a "non-issue". Wow, Steve was right.

Why are you all giving OP such a hard time? A facetime rep told me the same thing! I knew you wouldn't believe me without pics so here is one of our actual chat session:

I was in the local Apple store last night trying to buy a bumper case and they were sold out... Sounds like it was good luck for me. I'll be getting a new one for FREE!

CONFIRMED: all ip4 users experiencing signal and/or antennae issues will have SJ's granny dispatched to their home or place of business to have an iPhone 5 prototype shoved up their ass and receive a steel-toe boot kick directly to the nuts so that the issue of ip4 connectivity will no longer be their primary concern......... imo :D

Steve Jobs copter just landed on my back yard and he asked to see my I4 phone. I handed it to him and he took a piece of scotch tape and put it over the affected area, and zoomed off to the guy down the street also with an I4...said he'd be up all night doing this....

I tried scotch tape and it didn't work.

Worst image edit ever.

i hope this is true since i couldn't get one from apple care, but if not ill just wait till the one i orderd comes in.

No Bumper or Band-aid is going to fix this issue. Go into a low coverage area like I did this weekend and the phone will be rendered useless.

This weekend I went out to a friend's cabin like I do many times a year. All of us know we do not get reception at the cabin but we know when we get into town as well as at the lake we fish we can get reception to make phone calls. In town we are extra lucky because we actually have usable edge. Sure it's slower than 3G but it's enough to get by on and check emails and some light browsing.

This weekend I found the iPhone 4 to be useful for 2 things, taking photos and playing games. The only place I received a signal to make phone calls was in town and edge was useless, at the lake, no signal at all. I turned the phone on and off many times, tried changing the network settings, etc. and nothing would help.

Ok, just a bad weekend? Maybe the towers were really busy? How can you use this as a scientific way to determine if the iPhone 4 has issues. It was very easy, the guy next to me, the one laughing while using his 3GS without issues, everything was on par to my previous experience on my 3GS.

If you are looking forward to a free bumper to fix this issue, you've just had the wool pulled over your eyes. A rubber bumper may fix the interference when touching the 2 bands but it will not increase the signal.
