I still won't trust the speed trap indicator in the updated Maps app. It's not like it'll be 100% accurate, so a "speeding ticket" (even though the govt purposely makes the speed limit too low to make a profit) will still be a risk. Convince me otherwise.
I’m not sure why you would think this is any different than Waze or Google?
For those that commute (I don’t anymore, but when I did, I used Waze exclusively), there are typically spots along this daily drive back in forth where police wait to catch speeders.
Of course, not every day and not always in the same spot.
I happen to be one of those people that likes to drive faster than the speed limit because the roads and traffic here allow for it to be done safely. I relied on Waze to warn me when I needed to slow down and it rarely failed.
Not everyone lives in high traffic areas where speeders are dangerous and can typically be seen passing on the right, driving too close to other cars or weaving from lane to lane. Probably the reason we have 75 mph speed limit in locations here.
And as others have mentioned here, I think it is a nice reminder to actually slow down altogether.
Being one of the lucky ones that have this, the interface is very easy to use in either CarPlay or on the phone.
I’m going to use it in phone mode over the next week or so and take videos of the interface to share on the Maps thread pinned in the ios14 forum if anyone is interested.
