“Market share”? Apple Maps has been the most used by far mapping app on iOS for several years and is used BILLIONS of times a week. This is fantastic stuff! Little-byilittle, IMO, Apple is picking up momentum with their mapping application from a content quality and functionality standpoint. I have 14.5 installed and I thought I heard Siri telling me this the other day and I couldn't believe it (I thought I had Waze running! lol ... thank you MR for putting some color on how this works including in CarPlay). I've been a Waze user (and beta tester) forever but their innovation is slowing and I just needed something like this to get me to try returning to using Apple Maps. Waze still has an edge in crowd sourcing department with so many folks using their app and always updating the status of local driving but as Apple gains market share, their real-time solution in terms of what's happening at the time you're driving will get better and better.
Thanks Grandma. Just remember to stay out of the fast lanes and tool along on the right.More goes into it than that the time saved from 70-80mph is negligible. Even with that logic we still share the roads with cars from the 90s/semis and the roadways primary purpose military vehicles that have a 55mph limiter. I even have a model T I have taken out on the interstate. As I am nearing 30 I’ve found my reaction times are not nearly as good when I first started out driving as well I can’t imagine what it feels like to be driving in my 60s. I love going to the track on weekends and pushing the limits of my car in a safe environment but you’ll never find me speeding over 5+ on public roads.
I live in Italy and have used them here, Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, Austria, Slovaki, Czech and Germany. The only issues were in some villages in Croatia. I don't use Waze (and thus Google Maps) as I don't want Google to know my whereabouts, speed and driving habits.are more people using apple maps these days? here in UK I've always been nervous about using after directions not being as accurate as google maps
I’m in the UK and used Apple Maps from day 1 and never had a problem. It even showed me shortcuts I had no idea existed.are more people using apple maps these days? here in UK I've always been nervous about using after directions not being as accurate as google maps
We did some side-by-side comparisons on two iPhones with Google maps (not Waze) and Apple Maps about a year ago on several journeys. Our findings were that Google was usually more reliable at finding the destination initially, but after that Apple was better all round. The reliability of traffic and routing, the clarity of the spoken directions, and the animation and display of the maps were all better with Apple. This was in the UK. We were also surprised that on several trips to Italy the traffic was more reliable with Apple - surprised as Android is much more popular in Italy.are more people using apple maps these days? here in UK I've always been nervous about using after directions not being as accurate as google maps
Awesome feature. But they are copying Google. LolAll I want to say is if you’re applauding Apples move here, you have nothing to stand on if you complain about Amazon making clone products and putting small businesses out of business.
Sure Waze isn’t small and all, but it’s the use of their dominant position and financial means to snuff out small companies. Amazon or Apple, be careful what you wish for.
Maybe but it’s also far more useful while drivingthat is HIGHLY questionable and personal.
i think their UI is crap, over crowded and ugly IMO.
So you are encouraging people to speed and drive unsafe. So much the the morality of the Apple crowd. Thanks Grandma. Just remember to stay out of the fast lanes and tool along on the right.
Top speed is not the same as acceleration. You can accelerate from 0 to 60 (or whatever the speed limit is) as quick as you like and not get a ticket because at no point did you go faster than it.No, the idea is to raise money from speeding tickets. Today's speed limits were made for cars in the 90's... You know, ones that don't have 10 speeds, 20" tires, computerized technology combined with the parts, and don't average 150-300 horsepower for a daily driver.
About time but you still cannot flag where a cop is like you can in Waze! Remember the old Trapster?! The other issue is you cannot mark where the trap is if you’ve passed it and want to add it because you weren’t fast enough at that moment!! Waze also has this defect but Trapster did not!
