A totaly black iPhone with a seamless OLED screen? Please, take my money! Cant wait to see a moving wallpaper on a device like that!

Edit:
I couldn't resist to make a quick mock-up about my idea of a totaly black OLED iPhone. Would love to see it blacker than black.

Nice mock up but it appears they may get rid of physical Touch ID.

People moaning about the 16GB iPhone... it's there as a baseline model for very light users of apps/data/camera. Just people wanting an iPhone to use as a phone and nothing else. What's the problem with that? It's a choice people can make and I'm sure if it wasn't successful, Apple would sell it.

It's a bit harsh to call out on Apple when a lot of Android phones have a small baseline data storage chip. Yes, most will allow an SD card, but why the faff? Again, it's a choice.

I'm just hoping Apple do iPhone 7 justice. Needs plenty of different approaches to software nav and not bulking out iOS with extras.

iPhones get sold, handed down or traded in and are used for years.
No they don't. They sit in cupboards and side drawers and are hoarded by their original users. Apple should start buying back its ewaste. Worse than McDonalds they are.

Which Android phone cost $650 that starts at 16gb?

You just made up numbers?
And added a thank you to the guardian at the end of your gibberish rant.

What blanket assertion?
That Apple offers larger capacities than the 16gb variant. Damn straight. You seem to want to ignore that.

Because people will pay for it. Because customers obviously want it.

Not me, I bought a 128gb variant.
#happycamper
Customers obviously want it? I think it's more to do with customers want more storage but not willing to pay $100 more. So they "settle /compromise" with 16gb while never being truly satisfied.

It's easy to call Apple out because they position themselves as above the competition.

Maybe because the cost to Apple to upgrade the 16GB to 32GB would be pennies, but they ask £80 for it.
Maybe though, all the people who'd buy the new 32GB iPhone would complain that they had all that unused space...

Actually...it seems it's you that doesn't really know much about NAND flash storage technology.

The only difference is that iPhones use multiple NAND arrays in parallel for faster read & write speeds. SD cards and such use the same exact NAND, they just use a single controller over a slower SPI bus.

But the actual NAND flash silicon itself...? It's the same in cheap flash drives and iPhones. There is nothing special about the NAND in iPhones. The only difference is the flash controllers and communication interfaces.

The NAND flash used in a cheap Samsung Evo+ 16GB/32GB MicroSD card is far, far more advanced than the NAND found in iPhones. Samsung pioneered 3D vertical NAND fabs. Meanwhile Apple seems stuck in 2011. It's sad and it's pathetic and no amount of koolaid can change that fact.
Ok, this tell me a lot about your knowledge....
I'm fine. Don't need more of this discussion

The hate towards the iPhone is so much that some people complete distorted the reality here...
The nexus 6 was one of the worst device ever designed, an commercially a complete failure

Nexus phone never is and never will be clmmerixally successful products. It is not designed to be that way, it is more or less reference devices for Android maker. It is to show off what Android is intented to be at software level.

I personally own every Nexus phone since Galaxy Nexu (for your reference, that is Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P). I love those phone and pure Android experience. But I have to admitted that Nexus phone never a commercials hit. It is for niche audiences and market.

16 gigabytes is not enough storage for the average consumer in the year 2016. Running out of storage leads to subpar and sluggish performance. It is Apple's obligation to make sure every Apple customer is not, BY DEFAULT having a subpar, inferior experience. According analyst firm IHS it costs Apple 42 cents per gigabyte, costing them $6.72 per phone to increase the default storage to 32 gigabytes. Offering a 16GB phone in 2016 and beyond is unacceptable.
16 Gb aren't enough for me, for sure.
16 Gb are enough for my wife (she has 6 Gb of free storage). She doesn't have any subpar experience on her 5S.

I agree, I wouldn't buy a 16 Gb model in 2016. I didn't buy a 16 Gb model even in 2015, nor in 2014. Actually last 16 Gb iPhone I bought was the iPhone 5 in 2012...

I owned a Nexus 5 and it was a good device, especially with KitKat.
A little poor in battery life and camera quality, but considering the price it was a good device.
After that, nexus lineup became a nightmare: expensive uninspiring devices.

The 5s was released in 2013, has an 8 megapixel camera and can't do 4k. It's still a good phone and I'm glad your wife gets by on it. Going forward, it is unacceptable for Apple or Android/Microsoft manufacturers to produce a new phone with less than 32gb by default (unless it is a really cheap value phone). Increasingly large apps, higher res. photo/video/music simply can't be contained within 12 gb without hindering the user experience for the majority. 16 is the new 8. Memory is also cheap enough these companies have no excuse not to.

Should I be impressed by that spec list ?
The only thing I know about that thing is it runs Touchwiz over android. For what it counts they could even give it for free: I wouldn't buy it.

The Note 4 has a 5.7" screen and a smaller form factor than the 6S+ so it wouldn't be any larger if Apple slims bezels and keeps them MINIMAL
You choose a poor example. A phone has 3 dimensions. The Note 4 was shorter than 6S+, but wider and thicker....

iOS is the gold standard? pls point me to your research that substantiates that point. NOT opinion, research. Proof. Just to reiterate. I’m not interested in what YOU think. I’m after real proof. If you are going to give me more opinion don’t bother to answer.
No problem, we are also not interested in what YOU think. Here is the ultimate (put your money where your mouth is) verdict of mankind on the quality of iPhone versus supposed alternatives:

I think it's a financial suicide for Apple to save the major redesign on iPhone until next year.

I mean, sure Apple has the cash to burn until next year, but it's a user-base that would change camp.

Many of iPhone 6 users didn't upgrade because it had the same design. And like it or not, a lot of people only care about the image that new design gives them. It's the same reason why pink color 6s sold out the fastest; everyone wants the new bling.

By not introducing major new design, Apple risks losing the market of its iPhone 6/6+ users looking to upgrade after two years and we all know how dependent Apple is on iPhone for its revenue.

If I were Apple, I'd introduce a new design language on the iPhone 2016... with OLED screen saved as "S" upgrade.
