Don't you realize how absolutely inane that statement is? You could use the same logic to justify an 8GB iPhone. After all, if you need more you can just pay $100 to double, another $100 to go further, etc. right?

A phone with a 4K camera simply should *NOT* have 16GB of storage. That's just pathetic. you can shoot barely 20 minutes before you have COMPLETELY filled up your storage. Wow. Especially when it would have literally cost pennies for Apple to have put 32GB instead. No joke, not even a dollar. NAND flash has gotten so cheap but Apple seems stuck in 2011. It's sad and pathetic.

But worst of all, a $750 phone with 16GB...???? Come on now. There are Android phones less than HALF that price with 32GB. What a joke.

I used to be an iPhone guy even since the first back in 2007. But these days the iPhone is an awful joke, a punch line.

I hope that this year, when Apple does move to 32GB (it really just had to at this point), I hope their profit margins take a HUGE dive because they truly deserve it.

Why is the iPhone a joke or a punchline? Bc it has a 16gb option? If I recall correctly, the iPhone has >80% customer satisfaction rate. Your statement doesn't seem to align with reality.

The only issue I have with curved screens is how are cases going to work? Unless the thing is nigh indestructible I don't want kinks/scratches in my screen even if they are just around the edges. :( I can't see any way a protective case is going to save it from accidental damage and not cover up parts of the screen.. ?

This sounds absolutely amazing. I think I'm going to hold onto my 6S instead of the phone that comes out this year. I will for sure get one of these

Good job Apple, welcome to where Samsung was at several years ago. Maybe you could even go beyond the pathetic 16GB base model some time in the 2020's. But then again, why leave 2011 when you don't have to?
Entry level model should start at 64GB , 32 is not enough now especially with all these app updates

SO Basically Apple is Making a Samsung Note 5 Edge. And Calling it the iPhone Pro.
In that case I already Own an iPhone Pro its just called a Note 5 Lets see.

#1. 4GB DDR4 RAM
#2. Fast Charging
#3. 8 Core CPU at 2.3Ghz
#4. 1440p 5.7 inch OLED Display
#5. Thinner and lighter and physically smaller than the iPhone 6s Plus (samsung uses thinner bezels)
#6. Stylus for Hand writting note taking drawing
#7. Camera and LED are heart Rate Sensor
#8. aptX for HD Bluetooth Audio
#9. Wireless charging
#10. Multitasking 2 apps open at once

I humbly Present the iPhone Pro go buy one today. Mind you if Apple had created these features theyd want a Nobel Prize.

Don't get me wrong the Note series is awesome. What's not awesome is the fact I don't trust google nor do i trust samsung with any personal data on my smartphone. What's worse is the fact I cannot rely on them for security updates, OS updates. Sure the carrier's have a say in all this but that's not my fault.

Apple is just awesome - from customer support to product support they have never failed me once. I love their products for the build quality and if I ever have any problems, I walk into an apple store, DONE! I can't do anything about this samsung - I have to mail it somewhere. So it's not as simple as having all those cool features on the Phone.

If you can own BOTH that would be great - if I owned both, my personal data would still be on an iOS phone - NEVER on any google OS phone period. I am, however, disappointed the iPhone 6 isn't greater than 1080p because QHD super amoled display is just superior. I hope they will not use the same iPhone 6 series design for the upcoming iPhone 7 because it's just not a good design, IMO. If it's true 2017 is the year of an amoled iPhone, I'm afraid I'm going to hang onto my samsung one more year.

Lol... Some people will defend Apple and their saintly business ethics to the death. You'll never convince them. Watch for it... The revolutionary curved screen will also be Apple's innovation even if other phones had it first. Just like NFC payments... Rebadge it as Apple Pay and the flock shall agree it's Apple's invention.

I meant what I said. Samsung products suck. But from a distance the S7 looks cooler than the iPhone. Not that that means anything when it comes to a phone or is even a selling point. I am in no way standing up for Samsung, I would never buy a Samsung phone - or even any Android for that matter. I just feel the iPhone is stale and it's becoming harder and harder to defend Apple and justify buying a new iPhone anytime soon.
So you've never bought a Samsung product or used Android and yet YOU are absolutely sure Samsung products suck, can you explain how you KNOW this.

has anyone considered the fact that, when it comes to apple MacBooks, iMacs, iPads etc

the main design changes are quite minimal. If Apple produce one timeless great design for a Phone, why keep drastically changing it for the sake of changing it? is that an important part of why people want the next iPhone?

Agreed. Eventually, iPhone designs will change less frequently and less radically, just like Mac designs do.

onto that discussion.. does anyone have an opinion on which iPhone design so far, is the best one they should have stuck with? or maybe none are as good as it gets yet?

The 4/4S design strikes me as classier than that of the 6/6S.

Besides Photos Selfies etc. What "Personal Data" are you putting on Your Smartphone. ?? I don't get the "rub" when people say my "Personal Data"

Do you do Banking from a Cellphone ? do you Store Sensitive Tax or Health Data. ?

Personal Sensitive Data to me Are.

Bank Logins
Bank account Numbers
Pharmacy Prescriptions
I had a recent full physical Complete Blood Work levels results (these are handed on a printed Lab paper)
Safe Deposit Box Key
Tax Returns
Social Security Number

This stuff to me is "Personal Sensitive Data" Everything Else Facebook Twitter is Social Media or Pictures Which most iPhone share with the Cloud with or without your permission. And if you have any of the Above on your Cellphone question is what is wrong with you ?

B-B-B-But marketshare!!!!!
Market share is not a measure of quality. With software you can make as many free copies as you want. To make a profit customers must see actual value in what you do and vote with their wallet. Think about it, Samsung is not paying a single cent license fee for Android and they are the masters of component manufacturing, even a major supplier to Apple itself. So what is stopping them from being hugely profitable? People are not willing to pay for what they have to offer, no matter how much storage, memory, cores or inches. Curved AMOLED displays haven't changed that.

In addition to my iPhone 6+, I own a Nexus 6 running Marshmallow 6.0.1. With Nexus running stock Android, it's as close to iOS that you can get without any OEM bloat. To my surprise, Google has been great about pushing out monthly security updates and overall the device is secure. I've been alternating the Nexus 6 with my 6+ for over a year now and the Nexus on Android has been a flawless experience. Here in 2016, and from a completely unbiased standpoint, both these phones and OS' are 100% equally comparable. The future of both platforms is exciting.

So if this turns out to be the case and they do indeed save the redesign for iPhone's 10 year anniversary then this years' 2016 model should most likely be named iPhone 6SE. And next years' 2017 redesign will be iPhone 7 or they might take the opportunity to do away with the numerics altogether like the MacBook line.

You heard it here first folks!

I won't be upgrading my 6s either, based on the rumors that the next iPhone will look very similar, with some minor (or not so minor) updates like stereo speakers replacing the 3.5mm headphone jack. The tenth anniversary iPhone next year sounds like it's worth waiting for.

16 Gb aren't enough for me, for sure.
16 Gb are enough for my wife (she has 6 Gb of free storage). She doesn't have any subpar experience on her 5S.

I agree, I wouldn't buy a 16 Gb model in 2016. I didn't buy a 16 Gb model even in 2015, nor in 2014. Actually last 16 Gb iPhone I bought was the iPhone 5 in 2012...
The 5s was released in 2013, has an 8 megapixel camera and can't do 4k. It's still a good phone and I'm glad your wife gets by on it. Going forward, it is unacceptable for Apple or Android/Microsoft manufacturers to produce a new phone with less than 32gb by default (unless it is a really cheap value phone). Increasingly large apps, higher res. photo/video/music simply can't be contained within 12 gb without hindering the user experience for the majority. 16 is the new 8. Memory is also cheap enough these companies have no excuse not to.
I'm with Max(IT) on this one. I personally won't buy anything but 128GB or higher these days, mostly because I have a lot of music and a few big apps that I don't want to compromise on. That's me though, and I don't think my personal use profile defines the market so precisely that companies shouldn't offer a product I personally wouldn't buy.

I also don't take video, and only a limited number of pictures. If I was like a lot of people and relied on streaming for my music and used my phone mostly for communications and accessing online services, then 16GB would probably suit me just fine.

I don't know the breakdown of sales between the different storage options, so I don't know if the majority are buying 16GB phones or not. The point really is that they don't have to-- there are other options out there. So even if a profitable minority were interested in buying the 16GB version, it is still worth selling-- and the fact that Apple continues offering them is pretty much proof that people want to buy them. You don't dominate the profit share of an industry by selling stuff people don't want. That is the excuse these companies have not to-- people are buying it.

In short, the 16GB device isn't being sold for you-- so stop complaining about it.

If you need more proof that a 16GB device is perfectly functional, look at this complaint:
Yeah, sure, buy more. Problem is, the work phone that was handed to me was the base 16GB model. Like other company phones, only the base model will be given out to employees. I offered Verizon to pay for the difference to get the 64GB, but I was told it was corporate policy that it was not possible.
Now with all those required app from the company, I am left with less than 5 GB of capacity to use for e-mails, pictures and videos FOR THE JOB.
B4U's company is perfectly happy buying them. B4U would personally like more storage, but assuming they work for a company that deserves to be in business, the company would make a different choice if they felt this decision was hurting their ability to operate.

And this is where I've long suspected the rage against 16GB comes from-- people who don't have the power to make their own purchase decisions. Their parents, or their company, are making the purchase decision and so the only way to get something different is if Apple didn't offer what they're currently being given. That's really the only environment in which this kind of attitude makes any sense at all-- the only time you should care if a company is selling something you don't want to use is if you're being forced to buy it.

Sure, there are a few out there taking the Socialist view that profits are a sin against the proletariat and Apple should be giving according to their ability while we take according to our needs-- but for the most part I think the complaints are the rage of the impotent.

Actually, you're not the first, but you're close. Let's be honest, does anyone here honestly believe there would be an iPhone 13s? It's time to do away with numbers.

My mom also received an iPhone 6 Plus from company. Base 16GB model. iOS 8.4. Luckily there is no app for them to install for work, so she can use much of the space to store her photos and app data.
I was handed a 5s and with the moment I was given the phone, I was warned to install those company certificates, apps that monitor corporate policies and such...
16GB is really pathetic when considering that my job requires frequent video recording and taking pictures to record the issues.

I've got a clear jel case on mine, I'm not worried about scratches its Gorilla Glass 4, I've never had a scratch on any of my Gorilla Glass phones. The jel case juts out just above the top and bottom bezels which should hopefully protect the screen on a drop, I'll let you know if I ever drop it.

Problem with my company is, those bean counters do not understand how we use our phones. Taking pictures and videos are like a daily job requirement, because if there is no pictures or videos, the issue did not happen (at least, according to our design team). And to make matter worse, the IT department do not allow us to use iTunes on our work computers to unload those files from the phone to the computer...
Like I have said before, I offered to pay for the difference out of my own pocket to buy more storage, but was told no.
The only other way around is to get the Galaxy S5 (shoot me first) or buy my own phone (they don't actually pay enough to cover this expense).

Good job Apple, welcome to where Samsung was at several years ago. Maybe you could even go beyond the pathetic 16GB base model some time in the 2020's. But then again, why leave 2011 when you don't have to?

Now look up articles that discuss "10 things Apple copied from Android" and giggle.

And the headline did read "may", which implies it might not as well. That's the trouble with vaporware - they're not going to give straight answers. Given issues with curved displays such as increased fragility and screen protectors that don't fit, Apple shouldn't be playing the "good artists copy, great artists steal" game again... curves are neat but are gimmicky. It's a good hidden market, though.

You're amazed watching someone else use a cellphone? LMAO.

I know right! LMAO! Who gets amazed watching someone use a phone. #millennialAge

What a pathetic sorry POS excuse for human beings we have become. Wow!

Least on the internet, I know no one in real life who acts like some of these posters. I guess they don't get out much.
