Completely edge-to-edge. No wasted space. Could be great for VR too.

I'm on the every year cycle :p.

Although I must say I haven't heard anything about the iPhone 7 that makes me that excited for it.
Apple and VR doesn't exist yet sadly...I think they will be very late to the game...vr is what makes other devices so much more attractive especially when no one is innovating much.....

Jeez, you guys have to make up your mind, do you hate OLED of do you like it, because I'm sure anyone could easily search the many Samsung Vs Apple threads to see an overwhelming of Apple loyalist absolutely hate Samsung's AMOLED screens. I mean does that hate have an expiration date? And would that date be the day Apple uses Samsung's tech. Oh and that thing about copying, I believe that's another thing that really ticks off a lot of you. So ummm....., Oh forget it, let's all just thank Samsung for their never ending innovation and pushing mobile tech to the edges (pun totally intended), and hope Apple get an awesome deal on those displays so the next iPhone doesn't end up overpriced for what you get, like it is now.

Shrinking the bezels on the top and bottom of the phone and keeping the screen size the same or bigger is a good idea to me; the iPhone 6s Plus is a bit unwieldy (not unmanageable, but could be improved upon), when other 5.5" phones manage to feel more compact in the hand.

However, I think the Samsung Edge phones look hideous and are an accident waiting to happen. The curved screen means that the metal edges are awkwardly shaped, and having glass essentially on all four sides of the phone is just begging for people to break the phone. The description of this phone sounds exactly like a Samsung Edge, which I'd rather not see in an iPhone personally.

Just my two cents, but I think copying Samsung at this point is a bad idea, and not just because it's unoriginal. The curved screens are both unattractive and not particularly useful.

So, this analyst got his information from where exactly? Just sounds like (hopeful) speculation from where I'm standing.

So can we just agree the iPhone 7 isn't gonna be all that impressive and just stay tuned for 2017? No thanks, Samsung here I come

But if AMOLED display production is unable to meet the entire large-screen demand, Kuo believes Apple will launch 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch LCD iPhones similar to today's lineup, with the 5.8-inch AMOLED model being a third option at the high end.

I bet this will be the case, and it will be overpriced just like the new iPads.

It will be called the iPhone Pro and will be the new flagship iPhone model over the 7 Plus. May have Apple Pencil support considering a 5.8 inch screen is big enough to write on. Also may have a four speaker setup like the iPad Pro. LCD displays will be around for mainstream iPhones (e.g. 7/7 Plus and 7s/7s Plus) until 2018. It will cost $899 at the low end and come standard with 32 GB of storage with 128 GB in the mid-range and 256 GB at the top. Dual cameras are a definite must. Will have the ability to utilize a digital card-free e-SIM, allowing multiple e-SIMs to be used in one phone. May have USB-C instead of Lightning.

I don't mind the 7 not having smaller bezels. Larger bezels give case makers more freedom and allows them to offer cases with more protection. Smaller bezels might also compromise on battery capacity. I don't mind them getting rid of the 3.5 mm audio jack, a dual speaker setup is a bigger plus for me. I can see the 7 getting slightly thinner, especially considering a new, thinner Lightning port is in the works.

Not sure if I'm cool with the idea of an entire shatter-prone case or not.
Oh absolutely, if it was Gorilla Glass 2 or 3, I'd be really worried. I'm hoping Gorilla Glass 5 or 6 will be approaching indestructible. A glass design that doesn't shatter or scratch will be incredible.

Don't you realize how absolutely inane that statement is? You could use the same logic to justify an 8GB iPhone. After all, if you need more you can just pay $100 to double, another $100 to go further, etc. right?

A phone with a 4K camera simply should *NOT* have 16GB of storage. That's just pathetic. you can shoot barely 20 minutes before you have COMPLETELY filled up your storage. Wow. Especially when it would have literally cost pennies for Apple to have put 32GB instead. No joke, not even a dollar. NAND flash has gotten so cheap but Apple seems stuck in 2011. It's sad and pathetic.

But worst of all, a $750 phone with 16GB...???? Come on now. There are Android phones less than HALF that price with 32GB. What a joke.

I used to be an iPhone guy even since the first back in 2007. But these days the iPhone is an awful joke, a punch line.

I hope that this year, when Apple does move to 32GB (it really just had to at this point), I hope their profit margins take a HUGE dive because they truly deserve it.

It's a corporate phone, not a consumer phone. Drop the prices by $100 and you'll still complain about the 16 Gig phone.

So in other words, A Samsung S7 Edge.

An S7 Eddge that doesn't sputter and lag. Samsung should be embarrassed that the 6 month old iPhone walks all over it in speed and multitasking tests.

OLED. Sounds good. As do bigger mobile screens. Whatever will these boffins think of next? And all as soon as 2017 you say? I never thought I'd see it in my lifetime. What of the future for Apple in 2018. Virtual Reality? Curved screens? The stuff of science fiction I'll be bound! I wouldn't be surprised though going by the speed that these new innovations are zooming along that they'll jolly well manage it in such a tight timeframe. Go for it chaps!:apple:

A totaly black iPhone with a seamless OLED screen? Please, take my money! Cant wait to see a moving wallpaper on a device like that!

Edit:
I couldn't resist to make a quick mock-up about my idea of a totaly black OLED iPhone. Would love to see it blacker than black.

Very nice mockup !

That's funny my S7 doesn't splutter or lag at all, and it's much lighter and smaller and brighter and takes better photos.
Oh, forgot the screen, much much better.

I saw someone with a Galaxy S7 yesterday, side ways on. The edge wrap screen thing actually looked pretty damn cool and the device looks a lot thinner than the iPhone. Makes the iPhone look pretty dull in my opinion. I hate Samsung and Android so wouldn't buy one, but this is the sort of thing we should be seeing from Apple in my opinion. Actual innovation in the market.

If the 7 looks barely different to the 6,6 Plus,6s and 6s Plus I don't know if I could see the appeal of it. Even as someone who still has a 6 Plus. Apple products are getting all too samey.

Think it's getting harder and harder to defend Apple and the iPhone these days. In some cases you genuinely feel like you're being ripped off for an in-superior device. But then fan boys gonna fan boy, right? We're lead to believe everything Apple creates is stardust and I'd have agreed about 2 years ago.

Ugh now I might be waiting another year to get a fully redesigned iPhone

Even then we all know they won't bother with anything even resembling a full redesign. The design of the 6 and 6s is frankly dull and boring compared to some of the stuff Samsung is coming out with. Their new S7 actually looks pretty cool from a distance. Just a shame it runs Android...and Samsung made it.

I really wish Apple would get back to innovating. They're in a slump. Unless they're dedicating all their resources to a new project, the Apple Car anyone?
