Apple Media Event Announcement? iPod Updates Later...

"The Motorola rep did say that when the phone get its formal kickoff, it won't be sharing the stage with any other acts. 'We feel it is big enough to have its own event,' says the Motorola rep. 'It will be us, Apple and one of our large carrier partners.'"

So this sounds like there's no chance of any other major announcement like a video iPod-- that would simply upstage the phone too much. As sad as it is for all of us, the phone is the thing for this event.

Whatever happened to Apple's digital music production box? What was that called?

I found it interesting that there was an article last week proclaiming that Apple was going to make music production history (or whatever it was specifically they said).

I think it's clear...it's a music event. It's an industry event. It's to keep momentum moving...and perhaps launch something that is directly related to...ummm...music in some way.

The first is a place holder just in case, the second says if the iPod Video isn't relased by the end of the year, you'll get a creative sumit or other.

For the millionth time, today will be about the phone and only the phone.

They rented that place to hype it up, because idiot joe public will love it.

Net benefit to Apple, despite the price.

Even if the $2 price per song is true, I think it will be a net benefit to Apple as it would expose the Apple brand, innovation, and technology to a larger customer base beyond the computer and iPod product stacks.

That was the asteroid thing that got the rumour sites into rouble, pehaps that will be out today, to acompany Podcasting related stuff, maybe an update to Garageband as well to allow broadcast via Itunes 5.0 now that they've seen how popular podcasting has become (well at least in my circle of friends)

I still believe that with a line like "here we go again", the announcement tomorrow has got to be something big that no one has yet expected. A new ipod mini and a phone that plays mp3s just aren't all that revolutionary.

They aren't revolutionary at all or even evolutionary. There just additional renditions of products already on the market. I'd like to think that with all this hype, there's something more to it.
