Quote from Motorola

this is from Mac Daily News back in August:
"The Motorola rep did say that when the phone get its formal kickoff, it won't be sharing the stage with any other acts. 'We feel it is big enough to have its own event,' says the Motorola rep. 'It will be us, Apple and one of our large carrier partners.'"

So this sounds like there's no chance of any other major announcement like a video iPod-- that would simply upstage the phone too much. As sad as it is for all of us, the phone is the thing for this event.

3 hours to go-- anybody know if there will be a web broadcast anywhere?

Whatever happened to Apple's digital music production box? What was that called?

I found it interesting that there was an article last week proclaiming that Apple was going to make music production history (or whatever it was specifically they said).

I think it's clear...it's a music event. It's an industry event. It's to keep momentum moving...and perhaps launch something that is directly related to...ummm...music in some way.

We already know about the dang phone, why rent out a whole convention center for it?

It's gotta be more.

it is the only one that would fit that intel-loving ceo. 🙄

The first is a place holder just in case, the second says if the iPod Video isn't relased by the end of the year, you'll get a creative sumit or other.

For the millionth time, today will be about the phone and only the phone.

They rented that place to hype it up, because idiot joe public will love it.

Net benefit to Apple, despite the price.

Even if the $2 price per song is true, I think it will be a net benefit to Apple as it would expose the Apple brand, innovation, and technology to a larger customer base beyond the computer and iPod product stacks.

That was the asteroid thing that got the rumour sites into rouble, pehaps that will be out today, to acompany Podcasting related stuff, maybe an update to Garageband as well to allow broadcast via Itunes 5.0 now that they've seen how popular podcasting has become (well at least in my circle of friends)

Hi everybody! I've been reading MacRumors for years, but this is my first post...

So, I had this dream last night about the announcement. It goes down like this........

So..... What did you eat before bed?

And since when does Rush Limbaugh do music? 😉

Is this event supposed to be today? I ask because someone mentioned that it was tomorrow and their post is labelled as having been posted today. Oh, and is anyone providing live updates? 😀

first of all that is just a mock-up not something that is actually real for christ sakes.

Uh, read much? Isn't that exactly what the link I posted says? That it was a contest?

idea instead of phone:

For the iPod:
extra firewire port on top
iChat AV client
built in Airport
new mount ships with iSight.

Ta-da, video chat, to-go. Now what's gonna take off? 😀

dude, that was great.

thanks for making me laugh.. 😀

does anyone know if a stream of the event will be posted on apple.com later today? as they have done in the past w/ special events.

Also, This Makes Sense.

Last September it was the iPod Photo

This September it's the Video iPod

It can't be just the phone

I bet it's something completely different such as (finally) an agreement to put the Beatles catalog on iTunes Music Store

Have you all seen this? His predictions (recollections?) break down as follows:

- iTunes 5.0, with video podcasting.
- Video content to be sold at iTMS, including video podcasts.
- Video capabilities added to iPod.
- Wireless capabilities added to iPod.
- Airport Express with video streaming and connections for the TV. Can stream video wirelessly from the computer or iPod.
- Phone.
- Can purchase and download content directly using the iPod or phone.

I think it's dead on.

I still believe that with a line like "here we go again", the announcement tomorrow has got to be something big that no one has yet expected. A new ipod mini and a phone that plays mp3s just aren't all that revolutionary.

They aren't revolutionary at all or even evolutionary. There just additional renditions of products already on the market. I'd like to think that with all this hype, there's something more to it.

Bleh, how about they finally bought Apple Records? 😀

We could only wish!!

But if Steve was going to unveil all of this goodness, would he not do it during the Mac World Paris Expo Keynote?
